14What are you doing for Turkey Day and Black Friday?
by SnakesInTheTower inhappy turkey day everyone... the one thing i can be grateful about this year is that i am over a year out of the borg.... that was a huge milestone.. i have only distant relatives close by and wont be able to travel this year to be with my brothers (who live 5 and 8 hours away) or mom (11 hours away).
just no time or money to travel this year.. i did receive an invitation to spend turkey day dinner with a jwder and their family, but this year i think i am just going to coccoon the next couple of days... .
(i am very very grateful that they thought of me to extend the invite.

Watched "Meet Dave" not funny = Missing the old Eddie Murphy!!
by Witness 007 ineddie murphy movies i liked.....he was our hero growing up.. eddie murphy delirious and raw......just saw these last year on dvd.....damn funny.. the golden child and beverly hills cop 1-3.......trading places....coming to america.. eddie murphy movies not so funny....meet dave....and most of 2000-2008.....i think he now makes movies for $$$$$$ ...come back to us eddie please!.

Other than my wife and kids, I have no family near me. My childhood friend of 35 years and his wife live just 20 miles from me in Princeton, they have no kids and family near them we also have another couple who have no family in the area, we kinda adopted each other, for the past five years or so, we have been alternating between each others homes for the holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. This year we're travelling to Union, New Jersey, other than the turkey, evefrything else is pot luck. Interestingly will be the food. My wife is Haitian, I'm Puerto Rican, Chris is German, his wife Austrian, Hermina is also German her husband is Eucadorian.

Every morning when I walked to the train station, she and her pioneer friends would be standing on the corner offering the magazines. She approached me and I yelled "get a job" and kept walking. It was a few weeks later that she found out I was a witness. She hated me for two years. But got me back by marrying me. going on 19 years now!

Why hasn't there ever been or ever be a mass exodus from the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe wts have a history of false prophecies, including teachings that armageddon and the end of the world would occur in 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975. .
most of us didn't see that the true point of authority was not the bible, but the watchtower magazine, awake magazine,ministry school and the ever-changing views of the governing body.
the word of god in the bible does not change and a prophecy that does not come true is not of god's doing.

There have been a few schisms in the Society. As was mentioned there were several between 1917-1927, all stemming from the JUdges illegal takeover of the Society and discarding most of Russell's teachings. At that point some 75% of the original BIble Students, those who worked closely with Russell left. During the 30s, there were smaller ones, with either whole congregations leaving or just splitting with people taking sides.
In 1909 there was a split over the New Covenant doctrine. Then again, many left when 1914 failed, some came back though.
In certain parts of the world, there were schisms that left the JW's in the minority and the "apostates" the majority. Although years later, those tides would turn with the WSociety's heavy witness and evangelizing efforts.
In Europe there are two groups of Jehovah's Witnesses, one following Rutherford, the other following the Governing Body!
