  Witnet closes its Door for good...

  kind of a sad but inevitable end to a special and unique place on the net.

  free speech is severely limited in the truth, and the wide range of opinion and viewpoint between the old school and the new school i'm sure made operating such a site a challenge.. for me the most facinating thing was the way one could see thinking troubled witnesses contrasted with the ones who were the mindless products of an organization.

  i think it was a valuable window into the worldwide picture of what is happening today in the religion.. the site was helpful to me, and for that it holds a special place with me.

  Hey TMS, I always used the handle RR or RR144, dependi9ng on how many characters allowed for user name. I started on Witnet from the beginning, when Obed had the forun on www.about.com. You are right, Witnet started out pro JW, but then it became a place for comparing notes and Obed lost control. Later he found out I was inactive and banned me, so I came back as KingdomLeast and posted until the end of its run. I actually had lunch with Obed and his wife, as we both lived in New Jersey. He seemed like a nice guy, a bit conflicted. Last I heard he moved to Atlanta, had a couple of kids, heard he was divorced, but can't say for sure .... the rumor mill you know.

  i heard on real prison breaks last night that mcnair who i think escaped from a louisiana prison went to a prison bible sudy group,using it as a cover,i immediately wondered if his was anyhing to do with jws..

  faith on the march p.27 "..regarding the armagedon perdiction in 1878 ".....i told him {russell} pittsburgh papers had reported he was on the sixth street bridge dressed in a white robe...expecting to be taken to heaven with many others.....russell laughed heartily and said: "i was in bed that night between 10;30 and 11;00 pm.

  however some of the more radical ones might have been there, but i was not.

  niether did i expect to be taken to heaven at that time...much work to be done preaching...".

  Witness, do we know for a fact that Russell said that? After all MacMillan, VanAmburgh and Rutherford put a lot of words into Russell's mouth after he was dead. No one knows for sure.

  There was no Watch Tower Society in 1878. Russell didn't predict 1878, Barbour did The Three Worlds, Russell did not write it, only financed it.

  In fact McMillan wasn't with the Society in 1878. He was merely reading a current newspaper that did an expose on Russell and claimed he was on a bridge in 1878. Later the Brooklyn Daily Eagle made the same claim for 1914, that he stood on the Brooklyn Bridge waering a white robe.

  what is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).

  mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.

  my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.
