the society's latest book, "bearing thorough witness about god's kingdom" contains two serious omissions.. first, on page 105, it offers an outright lie about the organization and the bible.
"they do not force the scriptures to fit their views.
impartial observers have recognized this fact.
That's nothing new, the Society has been misquoting people for years. They even misquote their own publications. They quote Russell and Rutherfordsaying one thing, but when you look at the actual publication, it's saying something opposite.

when i was still in the cult i reckon i spent 90% of the meetings/assemblys mentaly asleep.
at one time i did try to concentrate on the talks, but just kept drifting away.
i even perfected the art of looking intently at the speaker while mentaly thinking up to-do lists, shopping lists and composing emails.. is it just me or not?
Is ANYONE Listening???!!
HUH?
me and hubby stopped attending around 2000, and for some strange reason i have stored all the books we were using at that time.

I left in 1992 and still have most of my JW stuff. Little by little I scan the books, and then ebay the original.

i am watching the movie "the perfect world", and they have a scene of a jw family eating dinner and then the doorbell rings and the mother answers the door with her kids following behind.
she opens the door and there are several costumed children saying "trick of treat".
the jw mother says that they don't participate in such activities.
I don't hide, I just don't answer the door. I don't answer the door for anyone.

The Angel of Jehovah Bible and Tract Society
This organization was founded by Alexander F. L. Freytag who was branch manager of the Swiss Society and who disagreed with some of Pastor Russell’s views even while the pastor was alive. Yet Pastor Russell appointed him in 1898 as Branch Manager. In 1917 he started publishing his views using the Society’s presses and paper. He was ousted in 1919 by Rutherford. He published a four-volume set of Scriptural writings, mostly published in French. His writings have been translated from French into English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. He published his own hymn book (he wrote and composed all the music) as well as his own devotional book. He also wrote numerous booklets and tracts. He published two journals, a monthly The Monitor of the Reign of Justice and a weekly Paper For All. There are branch offices in Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, and Italy. Members of this group view Freytag as “that Faithful and Wise Servant” of Matthew 24:45-47. This group also goes by the name Philanthropic Assembly of the Friends of Man, and The Church of the Kingdom of God, Philanthropic Assembly.

we will suggest a safe way to judge whether your present associations in the name of christ are part of babylon or not, and whether, therefore, you are one of those called to "come out.
" it is this: if there is no meeting of the congregation at which believers can call up a passage of scripture for discussion, in which discussion you, with others, can present your views of god's word, there is something wrong.
you cannot long have fellowship there.
We will suggest a safe way to judge whether your present associations in the name of Christ are part of Babylon or not, and whether, therefore, you are one of those called to "Come out." It is this: If there is no meeting of the congregation at which believers can call up a passage of Scripture for discussion, in which discussion you, with others, can present your views of God's Word, there is something wrong. You cannot long have fellowship there. Your light is under a bushel, and will go out, unless you give it more liberty. You must come out of such condition or your light will become darkness.
But if there be meetings at which you have an equal opportunity with others of calling up any portion of Scripture and expressing your view of its meaning on a par with others, you may conclude that you have found at least some evidence of Christian liberty; for no Christian has the right to refuse to give, when asked, a reason for the hope that is in him. And since the credo or belief of each Christian professes to be built upon God's Word, it follows that each should be not only willing but ready at all times to change his belief for one more Scriptural, if such can be pointed out to him. - Watch Tower April 15, 1908
My, the Watchtower has come a loooong way .... where's the freedom now?
Dear Tide: I am writing to say what an excellent product you have! I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out! In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.
What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product .
Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.
