  Actually you seem to be the one a bit confused. Maybe you need to brush up on your scriptures a bit more before you assume there is no biblical support for what Catholics believe. I didnt join this board for yet another chance to debate someone that hasnt bothered to really learn about the faith [8>] so Im not going to get into this excpt to give you some scriputural referances.   So what are some seeds I can plant in their minds to make them think about the origins or motives of their faith. remember they are young women- 17, 19, and 24(married). I am thinking there must be something that can be planted into a young mind to make them consider the motives of the faith. I also realize that after I plant this seed, I will probably no longer see them, but I will pray that at some point this seed will grow.

  "Suppose you had a beloved son. That son was an advocate for a political cause and because of this he was popular but hated by the government and some people. So he was unjustly accused of a crime and sentanced to death. His followers were furious and to remember him they hung photos of him in the electric chair and wore necklaces of an image of him in the electric chair. How would this make you feel?"

  OK This was the one thing they asked that stumped me. I am working on a reply to them for this Saturday. I am going to reaproach the topic with them by saying
  ..." that after further thinking on the subject, I would want the photos of that unjust execution hung from every wall in every house and every Church and every public building so that no one would forget the cause. I would want His death remembered for the brutality in which it was administered and I would want people to use to that image to remember for themselves that my son did indeed give his life for them, for a very worthy cause. But most of all I would want them to show that photo to everyone as to make sure it didnt happen again, much the same way prolifers use photos of aborted babies, or the photo of the little baby girl from the Oklahoma bombing."

  Is this acceptable or will they have a come back that I should be prepaired for?

  i have invited some young ladies into my home on saturday's to discuss the bible.

  Well, I am a Catholic and I have invited them in basicly because they seemed like really nive girls and I have heard a lot about their beliefs being way out there. I dont want to sound like the "save the world" type- I just wanted to plant some seeds and show them that all is not what it apears to the JW's. Since they are so young, Im afriad I will not have much time to plant these seeds, because as soon as the folks get wind of what they are hearing, it is likely that they will either put a stop to the visits or start coming with them- which I wouldnt be opposed to. I really want to know how to approach them on topics. Do I dare ask them questions to make them think about what they believe or will that drive them off? I am thinking the best way to handle them is to just answer their questions from MY beliefs and not press any topics untill the girls bring them up themselves.

  please can someone shed light on the claim that when the bible was originaly written it had the name jehovah in it over 7000 times but it was changed because of superstition?

  how do you dispute it?

  exactly where did they get that crazy version of their bible anyway?

  Maybe some of you are familiar with the study guid that the J.W's brought to me. Its called "What does God Really Require Of Us?" In chaper 2 they mention graven images. I tried to explain the topic better to them but they werent getting it. I tried to show them how God instructed and gave details on how to make the angels on the Ark. They said "Yes but they werent worshiped." I asid "Neither are my statues of Jesus, I do not worship them, and the pictures I have of saints are there to remind me of my Holy forefathers and its no different than having photos of my deceased relatives on my walls. they are there because I loved them and want to be reminded of them.But I NOT worship them. Graven images as God described them were images of false Gods that the pagans worshiped and adored and gave gifts to." Did I handle this OK? They just seemed to look at me as if it went right over their heads. Is there a better way to explain this to them?

  Please can someone shed light on the claim that when the Bible was originaly written it had the name Jehovah in it over 7000 times but it was changed because of superstition? Why do they say this? How do you dispute it? Exactly where did they get that crazy version of their bible anyway? And the BIG question- of it IS true that the name Jehovah was changed to Go and Lord, then why was it done? Hope someone can help.
