Maybe the JWs are so insignificant that no one could be bothered to destroy their building.

I Am Legend JW email
by Descender inso my sister-in-law, who is a pretty hardcore jw, showed me an email that looked like it had been passed around quite a bit, so i figured someone on here had probably seen it.
supposedley it's a picture from the movie "i am legend" where will smith is walking through new york and all the buildings in the background are in ruins except for the bethel building, which stands out, undamaged and clean.
i watched the movie and don't remember seeing anything like that so i just figured that some jw photoshopped it and sent it out to the jw community to show that the bethel building is protected by god even in a post apocaliptical world run over with zombie vampires.

NEW "annointed" since 1935 - hilarious!!!
by hamsterbait ini counted up the deaths/ new partakers over the 71years 1936 to 2007.. i assumed 70 as the average lifespan, which means we can reasonably expect a decline of 1.43% each year.. those dead: 14 707 new partakers: 52 312. .
average deaths each year: 207. average new partakers each year: 737.. this gives a combined total of memorial partakers between 1936 - 2007 of 66 839. according to the witchtower of 1988 15/12 there were 27 006 partakers in 1936. smell anything yet?.
1: where those dying (3 figures) exceeded new partakers (2 or single figure) 16 years out of 71.. 2: at no point did the number of deaths in a year exceed 561.. 3: lowest number of deaths 122 in 2003. lowest number of new partakers 3 in 1988.. 4: highest deaths 561 in 1938. highest number of new partakers 10 677 in 1937.

One day at work, I had been doing some actuarial calculations. Later that evening, I was at the book study, and the subject of the remnant came up. I began musing that I wished I had sold those bastards life insurance. The residuals would be awesome. They just never died.
Then it dawned on me, that something is wrong here. So, I pulled out the numbers of anointed over the years, and noticed that around 1970, the numbers started behaving abnormally. So, starting with 1970, I plugged the anointed number into an actuarial spreadsheet.
As you can guess, the most important group in the history of the world is almost completely fake.
I can post the table if you like.

Greater Noah and manure piling up in Antitypical Ark
by hamsterbait ini loved frankiespeakins thread on the original ark.. according to the wt the borganization is the antitype of noah's ark.. what does the real crap piling up in the prophetic pattern tell us for our day?.
the build up of methane would be so great the ark would have exploded.. the ventilation was so inadequate (only a 15 inch vent around the upper deck) causing suffocation to those below.. without refigeration most of the food would be going bad.. noah was so ignorant he thought the flood was global.. who is the "greater noah?".
how can christians use this prophetic pattern to find healthful words of truth for honesthearted ones?.

Well, they also consider themselves to be the "John" class. Couldn't they just flush everything down themselves?

Abrahams wife Sarah was actually his half sister
by evergreen inreading through genesis has been an eyeopener for me.
i was surprised to read in chapter 20 that sarah was in fact abrahams half sister.
in verse 12 of this chapter, it mentions how abraham and sarah both had the same father, but different mothers.

A bit further on the Amram-Jochabed affair...
The fellow who was making up the begats must have gotten a little confused. If you do the math, Jochabed was 260 years old when Moses was born. That would make her a couple hundred years older than her husband.

Well, it is interesting to explore the potential use of hypnosis by JWs (whether intentional or not). They certainly use many of the other techniques used by cults for controlling people.
However, based on this guy's website, he looks looks pretty nutty himself. I'm not sure that I would want to fall into his hands any more than the Witnesses.

Climate Change. Yes the science is settled.
by mavie inthe science is settled.
special interests do not want you to think that it is.
"in a candid memo about political strategy for republican leaders, pollster frank luntz expressed concern that voters might punish candidates who supported more pollution, but he offered advice on the key tactic for defusing the issue: "should the public come to believe that the scientific issues are settled, their views about global warming will change accordingly.

I have to admit that I was beginning to bend under some of the propaganda put out by the anti-warming crowd. I guess it's due to my backlash against apocalyptic proclamations.
- until last week, when I helped my daughter write an essay on global warming. The arguments in favour were well researched, logical, and credible. The arguments against were almost universally crackpot in nature. I only found one or two sources who were capable of making a rational argument against global warming. I was also struck by the similarity of their logic to the ID movement.

The war on Christmas is completely imaginary.
If an individual wants to refer the holiday in any way they chose, including "Christmas", they are free to do so. The only ones that I have ever heard complaining about the label are the Christians, who seem to think that they should impose on everyone else to say the same words that they do.
Call it whatever the hell you want, and let everyone else do the same thing.

Vasectomy Horror Stories- Have Any? Or Normal Vasectomy Stories ?
by flipper inwell, i know you all pretty well now after 9 months of being on board , so i feel o.k.
to approach this subject.
this subject is a pretty touchy one for most of us men, especially those of us that have been put under the " knife" , and got to the point where we did not want any more children.

Mine was a piece of cake - a bit of pain and bruising on one side, the other was completely painless. Within a week, all was normal. I didn't take any time off work, but then, I just sit at a desk anyway.
