German TV Magazine Covers JW Child Abus
by GermanXJW inabout 45min ago - on short notice -, german tv magazine kontraste ( http://www.kontraste.de) broadcasted a very well researched report on child abuse within the jw community.
the report was only 10min long, but it was german prime time - the very first topic after the most watched daily news magazine.
kontraste (contrasts) is very reputable tv magazine.. two victims were interviewed and a jw spokesman.

This is fantastic. It looks like there is a fairly well organized anti-JW movement in Germany, helping people to deprogram themselves - not to mention embarassing stories popping up everywhere.
I think the Society has more trouble on its hands than it can possible handle.

Reading this thread is a sickening reminder of the mindless, stubborn, adherence that JW's have to a printing corporation.
I cannot begin to express how embarassed I am to have ever been associated with this group of imbeciles.

demonized child
by finnrot ini was raised a witness, and i was always told that demons were everywhere.
i was told that if you let your mind open to "wrong" thinking that demons will invade you and take over.
and just about anything could get you demonized.

JW's are scared of a multitude of things that the demons can use to infiltrate your life.
I remember the music scare of the early 80's. Debasing music and backmasking caused young JW's (like myself) to destroy perfectly good albums.
Probably the stupidest comment on this subject came at a circuit assembly, where the speaker said that the "new classical" music could allow demons to gain control of a person, because it required that the listener empty their mind and give themselves to the music.

"My Child is Dead"
by Lee Elder inthis morning we published a very moving story written by a jehovah's witness whose 15-year-old son died supporting the watchtower's society blood policy.
to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time a jw parent has gathered up the courage to face down this monstrous policy after losing their child.
this is a very special person indeed and when we finally gather enough of these folks together and set them in front of the right attorney, the wts will be in for some serious litigation.. at present mary is in the midst of divorce from her jw husband and nailing down a custody agreement, so the identity of her and her son must remain anonymous.

I noticed that the driver of the car had been racing on the way home from the meeting.
Over and over again, I see Witnesses who think nothing of breaking a small law (either moral or legal) for no particular good reason. Yet, they refuse to break a perceived law in order to save their lives.
The hypocrisy is astounding.

Why WTS Wants A Young Girl To Die
by metatron inhere we have a paradox - a mystery on which a life hangs.. the society dumped their new blood cards.
they write ambiguous replies to "questions from.
readers" about what blood products can or can't be taken.

I think your reasoning is correct, although I might add another one.
Most of the organization, if not all, believes that the words of the Watchtower are the words of God. They have come to believe their own propoganda. They are followers. The leaders have all died, and no one is capable of shaking their own divine, but misguided, authority.
I was at a conference this week. The speaker urged business managers to beware of believing their own PR. This is what has happened to the Society.

It appears that this Chinese newspaper has the same ability to discern reality as the governing body.

Very interesting post.
I have often wondered about the prohibition on holidays, sports, dances, and virtually any normal teenage activity. There seems to be very little scriptural support for the ban. My question is:
Were these things prohibited based on legitimate beliefs, or were they prohibited specifically for the purpose of isolating our young ones?
This yeilds another question that I have long wondered: Is the governing body a group of evil geniuses, or are they just stupid?

Well, this is an odd coincidence. I just happen to have ripped out those pages and stuck them in my desk drawer.
Here is Washington. Let me know if you would like any other states
Tacoma June 28-30 (Tacoma Dome)
Kennewick July 5-7 Spanish onlhy (Tri cities coliseum)
Tacoma July 5-7 (Tacoma Dome)
Kennewick July 12-14 (Tri cities coliseum)
Tacoma July 12-14 (Tacoma Dome)
Kennewick July 19-21 (Tri cities coliseum)
Tacoma July 19-21 (Tacoma Dome)
Kennewick Aug 2-4 Spanish only (Tri cities coliseum)
Kennewick Aug 9-11 (Tri cities coliseum)
It looks like a bit of a pattern. Do you suppose maybe they got a deal on parking, or maybe a tax break? -

what's the silliest....
by dustrabbit inwhat's the silliest thing you ever heard a jw say?.
(besides, the possible, "anything they say is silly.
my personal favorite: an elder once said to me at a circuit assembly back in the eighties (and why i don't remember...maybe i was smirking): "you think the devil is weak?

This reminds me of my baptism questions. The brother asked me if I knew the difference between adultery and fornication. Well, as a typical 14 year old, of course I did. But, I didn't really want to get into it, so I said "no".
He then explained it to me. Apparently, if you have non-marital sex once, it is fornication. If you have it repeatedly, it is adultery.
Wow, to this day, I can't believe a 50 year old elder did not know what adultery was.
