  Pope,

  For one moment I thought you were in the congregation that I was sentenced to re; chairs.

  When they moved into a new building they converted it into a KH

  As the elders wanted to please the CO at his next visit they purchased a completely new lot of chairs putting it first to the congregation, I put up my hand and asked the question.

  Why are we spending £1,500 pounds on chairs when our disabled brothers are stuck down stairs not being able to enjoy!! The company of the rest of the Bros/sisters up stairs (that is the way the elders planned the layout of the building, they had to sit downstairs and watch a portable TV set of what was going on. (by the way there was not much wrong with the old chairs)

  This forced a show of hands the chairman put his hand in the air in favour of buying the chairs,this obviously swayed many bros. To vote accordingly ,

  The result was a three way split with a slight majority in favour of buying.

  Visiting witnesses couldn’t believe what they heard.

  This is agape love really working through the Brothers & Sisters.!!!

  I agree with you completely,there were many women who were far better readers then us men, They would have made better elders as well bring back Ruth etc.

  It all started with a kingdom ministry sheet directive, suggesting that good readers to be used to read the watchtower on the Sunday. The elders, in their wisdom, took off 10 brothers.

  I reacted to this because the KM said good readers not the best readers. (I had also seen the damage done on a previous occasion with the same situation.)

  Because the elders would not back down over this, they used sisters to read in the group.

  Visiting witnesses were very puzzled. It got to a point where the elders wrote a letter and lied to the Society, saying that only 3 had been taken off reading. I wrote to the society and

  named 10 who had been taken off reading. Because of this, the travelling C.O. called a special meeting. The outcome of the meeting was the elders had to make a public apology to the congregation because of the way they had handled things.

  They were told to apologise unreservedly

  A few weeks later we had a WT discussion on Ez. Ch 7 re: The fat shepherds of old and how they were

  treating the people so badly . My answer! "Let’s bring this up to date, these fat shepherds are fat elders. I then went on to explain the likeness there was with ones at the time of Ezekiel and ones now. [As above] Within 2 mins of arriving home, I got a phone call telling me I was on the "carpet" & the elders were going to sort me out.

  I asked them whatever happened to Matt. 5 & Matt. 18, (two procedures that had to take place) Their answer, " this is too serious." ?

  Again they failed in this foolish act, because they were in such a hurry to flex their muscles. It was a pity, as I would have loved to have given a response to such a "kind" invitation to meet with them !!. Unfortunately, this did not materialise.

  There are many more instances like that, that I have come across in my 30 years in the Borg. 2 congregations fondly known to me as Staleg 17 & Staleg 18 !

  IMHO - The so called leaders are experts at using the stick, but failed miserably to master the carrot.

  Going out with a bang

  after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.

  it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.

  i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.

  Having recently met Little Toe at the Curry House, we came home and tuned in to his Talk which incorporated his DA notice to his congregation (back in 2001). We were very impressed by his sincere manner and Christian approach to everyone in the congregation, even though he would have well known the repurcussions of his action.

  On a personal note, whilst I (KT) would have loved to have done the same, I don't think that I could have done it in such a mild manner especially when I would have looked down at all of the "Glorious Ones" in the KH!

  We are both so proud of the way that you lovingly handled the situation.

  How Would You Refute JW's Claim Of Being The ONLY True Religion?

  What Do You Think About The "Faithful&Discreet Slave Class"?

  there are so many new posters here now, i think this topic should be revisited.

  i believe the most ridiculous belief that witnesses have is a "slave class" made up of 144,000 give spiritual "food at the proper time".

  this is something that has always puzzled me.

  genesis 10 v 5 - "...the population was spread about in their lands according to its tongues".

  genesis 11 v 1 - "...now all the earth continued to be of one tongue and one set of words".

  I read that and at first it seemed a load of waffle, then I realised that it was a quote from the WT and this confirmed my original thoughts !!

  They (the WT) didn't really explain anything
