when i think back of how the elders were viewed, even when i was a kid, i recognize that many people were deathly afraid of the elders.

my brother had been appointed in the 70s shortly after the elder arrangement was put into effect.

so my family always had an "in" because of our theocratic connections----not that my brother was very forceful.

I was in the org. for 30 years, I thought I could hold myself against anyone when it came to finding and using scriptures.

When I left (because of U.N. involvment etc.) and read many other books, (frowned on by the wts) I realised that they have not got the sole rights to his word, and they certainly did not have the correct interpretations of the scriptures, they have got SO MANY PROPHESIES WRONG, you have to take seriously the scripture in Deu.18 20 –22. There Jehovah is telling us not to be taken in.

As I say after 30 years I believe in Jehovah and Jesus Christ but my knowledge I believe is very questionable eg;

What do I think is going to happen after death!!!!!!!!!!

I know all the scriptures in Isaiah, Psalms, Revelation, but there are others that make you wonder what the real answer is, in other words I can find the scriptures, but as to their true meaning I am lost.

Elders.

Elders are in a position of teaching, teaching to the public.

James 3 v1, not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we receive heavier judgement.

There is a clear warning to make SURE what you are teaching is accurately researched and investigated before opening your mouth, not to accept just the wts version, but to get outside the box !, ………………(they have been wrong a "few" times in the past ?

I certainly found that to be true.

In my very last cong. We had a hit man, B.D. he was used at tricky times to sought things out, did not have ½ ounce of Christianity or common sense, always had to flex his muscles.

When I read what I print, sometimes I think I must have been an Absolute idiot for putting up with them (elders) for so long.

As a JW were You Told to Not Report or Be Silent about Child Abuse ?

as most of you know in 2002 barbara anderson and bill bowen were on the dateline program which revealed that child abuse victims had been theatened with disfellowshipping from the jehovah's witnesses for reporting child abuse to the police and authorities .

and this actually happened to many victims and their families for standing up in behalf of the safety of abused children !.

most here are aware of the out of court child abuse settlements the wt society made with 16 witness child abuse victims in 2007. a gag order was placed on victims so they would not speak of their experiences with the media.

As an x-jw I know they "believe" the bible and its every word.

I am puzzled therefore when I read scriptures like Rom 13v1 (be in subjection to the superior authorities)

Surely its against the law not to inform the police ?

What of gods law!!

NOW IN CASE A SOUL SINS IN THAT HE HAS HEARD PUBLIC CURSING,, AND HE IS A WITNESS OR HE HAS SEEN IT, OR HAS COME TO KNOW OF IT, IF HE DOES NOT REPORT IT, THEN HE MUST ANSWER FOR HIS ERROR.

I never reached those dizzy heights, an elder once said to me you will never be an elder because you are not prepared to work with them………………………THE TRUEST STATEMENT I HAVE EVER HEARD FROM elders.

I could not work with lying cheating two faced people who have never had a position of authority in their lives.

They do not act like "true Christians".

You can sit in a hen house but it don’t make you a chicken.
Likewise, you can go to church, but it don’t make you a christian.

Yet again the WTS can be knocked down by simple common sense.

I’m not sure I agree with you about the elders,

When do they (elders reach perfection 100years etc.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE PERFECT NOW.

What entertainment does not have violence…………………….even Tom and Jerry have their fare share.

The WTS go on about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness,

But according to WTS this was when all previous heavenly life was opened up to him………………………..he would have been on a spiritual high surely, but he still had angels minister to him

How many of us imperfect ones got direct help from angels when we had a dispute with brothers

people resurrected not able to marry

can someone provide the societys view on whether resurrected are not able to marry.

it has been over 10 years since i was active and i at the time if i remember correctly the society said they would not.

if anyone knows whether they flip floped on this either would be great.

According to Wtbs there will be two groups of people (this was when I was interned by them)

One group would be those survivors through the great tribulation, that would still be married.

The other group having been loyal till death (even postponing having children)

These ones would not be allowed to pick up where death intervened.

Looks a bit dodgy to me, and one of many questions that the Glorious ones could not answer.

Even the answer that Jesus gave on this subject still causes problems.

Contradictory beliefs and faulty reasoning re. Jehovah 'blessing' the work

you will hear jws coming out with two things that are completely contradictory which they take to both prove the same thing.. 1. they have massive growth and that proves that jehovah is blessing the work they do.

2. they are not as large as the catholic church which proves that they are the 'narrow path' leading to salvation.

so, having a lot of followers and also not having a lot of followers are both proof that you are the one and true religion.. hmmn, ok ... but there is more.. think about what they believe regarding #1 above ... that growth is evidence that jehovah is blessing their work.. how does that work exactly?.
