Yaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnn.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
i am very angry, pent-up rage call it!
so you will understand why and with great ease this subject is able to flow off my tongue onto the keyboard, because this time of the year is worse than your christmas time jitters!
anxiety, stress, compulsive babbling nuts are invading our service groups!
Yaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnn.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
an elder came around this morning at 9am to ask if my husband wanted to come with him on a bible study.
my husband nipped from the bathroom to the bedroom in his undies to get dressed, while i talked to the elder!
the elder talked about how he just happened to think my husband might be free this morning, and just happened to get a call from someone wanting a bible study, and then he said to me, "why don't you come visit my house some time?
The concept of 'boundaries' doesn't exist. I've had elders just come straight out and ask me how much I earn at work. Splash.

that article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.
Well things they are a-changing.
There is directive from above that the older ones you are used to seeing take charge/give talks at the CA's and SAD's are being replaced with younger elders.
Any older department heads will also be replaced.
Any new CO's will now be younger brothers (relatively speaking).
This is being implemented with immediate effect and may contribute to encouraging the youth to get more involved themselves.

as a true scot, i'm deeply passionate about most things scottish, any possibly one of our small nation's most successful export is my main favourite - our single malt whisky heritage.. i'm writing this while savouring a 12 year old highland park - distilled in the orkney islands, the most northerly distillery in scotland.
it is one of my favourites - it was my late father's favourite tipple.
yet, only 500m from my house is scotlands oldest legal whisky distillery - glenturret, in crieff.
I used to drink Lagavulin. My first bottle was a challenge, I bought it on someones recommendation. My last bottle of it I really loved. I would pour myself the smallest amount, sip, breathe, savour and swallow it, then over the course of the next hour or two I would enjoy the changing, developing flavours in my mouth.
Epic!
I dont like Bowmore, its like it's been matured with a bag of nails, and the metal taste remains.
I have open a smooth macallans, an oily and TCP smelling laphroiag, and a delicious Cragganmore. My next purchase will be a Glen Farclas
I dont mind adding a little water, as i like a strength of about 30%
Open in the cupboard are a few others for guests to try who might not have a palate that enjoys my choice of whisky.
I've found my likes change so I enjoy trying new ones every few years, but saying that, I have never been without a Macallans during the past 25 years.
a publisher in a congregation doesn't represent the watchtower organisation (due to legal reasons/insurance etc) .
they just represent themselves as individuals.
so why are publishers supposed to hand in their reports to the congregation/wts?
And why are they trained by the Soc, supplied by the Soc and have to pay (contribute) for the Soc's publucations?

the age newspaper | fairfax media | friday, march 15, 2013. jehovah's witnesses a 'cruel cult'.
http://www.theage.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.
christian sect the jehovah's witnesses - with 64,000 active 'disciples' in australia - are a cruel religion with no soul, according to melbourne cultbuster raphael aron.. his warning comes as the federal government considers tightening the definition of a charity to prevent some cults and quasi-religions keeping their tax free status.
leaving_quietlyJWs don't celebrate birthdays because the two mentioned in the Bible ended up with murder. Thus, because of the negative light on it, birthdays are avoided.
Apart from Job's children's "days" I can think of at least three birthdays in the Bible.

Oh, and just to add to Blondies list about Chess:
IS CHESS A SAFE GAME TO PLAY?
NO - g73 3/22 p. 14 Chess—What Kind of Game Is It?
Some chess players have recognized the harm that can result from playing the game.
The extreme fascination of chess can result in its consuming large amounts of one’s time and attention to the exclusion of more important matters. Also, in playing it there is the danger of “stirring up competition with one another,” even developing hostility toward another, something the Bible warns Christians to avoid doing.
Then, too, grown-ups may not consider it proper for children to play with war toys, or at games of a military nature. Is it consistent, then, that they play a game noted to be, in the opinion of some, an “intellectualized equivalent of the maneuvers enacted by little boys with toy soldiers”? What effect does playing chess really have upon one? Is it a wholesome effect?
Surely chess is a fascinating game. But there are questions regarding it that are good for each one who plays chess to consider.
YES - g79 1/22 p. 10 Playing Indoor Games
And, of course, chess is another board game that has long provided many persons much pleasure.
NO - g94 1/22 p. 29 Watching the World
There is growing concern that such amusement encourages violence. University of Calgary sociology professor Robert Stebbins said in The Globe: “There is a fuzzy line between war games considered problematic and those considered acceptable, such as chess with its castles and armies. The intent is violent.” One teenage player said: “It seems kind of weird to promote a game for pleasure that is associated with war. . . . When you think of the message this gives, it doesn’t seem right.”
YES - g96 9/22 p. 22 How Can I Have a Good Time?
What are some things you can do at a gathering—besides simply watching TV, listening to music, or conversing? “We usually plan the evening in advance,” says Sanchia. “We’ve played games or had someone play the piano, so we could sing songs together.” An African youth named Masene says: “We sometimes play cards, draughts [checkers], and chess.”

I liked paragraph 7:
7 On the other hand, what if your aim is merely to become wealthy? Perhaps you will succeed. Even if you do, however, remember that such “success” will come at a price—one that you cannot afford.
So there it is, no question.
"Success comes at a price you cannot afford."
Next time you see a successful JW, know he has paid an unpayable price for it.
