( apologies for the large space at the top i don't quite know why .
i sat through the wt study that dealt with all the new understanding.. the conductor started by by saying .
well we wont spend too much time on what we used to believe, we will consider what we believe now.. i took a look round to see how the members of the congregation were reacting to this.. nothing.... .
While pre-studying the following questions came to mind:
Para 5: "These pangs of distress correspond to what took place in Jerusalem and Judea in 33CE to 66CE."
Question: Were there war, famine and earthquakes in Judea between 33CE and 66CE?
Para 6: "In the first fulfillment, the Standing In A Holy Place occurred in 66CE."
Question: Did the Romans infiltrate the temple in 66CE?
Para 6: "In the larger fulfillment, the Standing will occur when the UN atacks Christendom."
Question: Since when do we consider Christendom to be a Holy Place?
Para 7: "In 66CE the Romans cut short it's attack... Jehovah will cut short the attack of the UN on false religion"
Question: So if the 1st century Christians had to flee when it was cut short, what corresponds to fleeing today when it will be cut short?
Para 8: Now describes the Rapture of the anointed, as pointed out by many others.
Checking the description of Rapture in the reasoning book, it says being 'bodily' caught up. This, deceptively, is not the definition of Rapture as believed by other religions, but does allow the WT to still say the rapture doesn't apply to them since they will be caught up in Spiritual bodies.
Para 15: Lots of talk of Jesus 'coming.
Question: If he is 'coming' does that mean he is currently 'away'? If so, since when? If so, who has been appointing GB 2.0 in his absence?

+1 to pixel.
If you count the number of christians put to death for their faith in the 1st century, you soon exceed 144,000, easily doubling or trebling that number at least.
So for that reason the WT says they were false christians, giving their lives for false reasons.
Talk about the tail wagging the dog.

to all who are still active...& those who are not...... is everyone ready for wt for sunday....1914....is everyone ready to see the friends faces, that will pretend all is well.
but their minds will be racing.
i started the article...talk about confusing...but maybe on purpose only a few in the hall will be able to break it down.
Good question St George, since if he went away in 1919, who appointed the newest batch of GB, none of whom were alive when the 1919 appointments were made.
Maybe Christ pops back every now and then to see how things are going. I don't recall this in the illustration of the 10 virgins.

worth a listen on the podcast.
talking on the issues of his life as a jehovah's witness and the child abuse issues.. plus a backlash afterwards by a few jw sympathisers.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01ffl21.
BroMac: Which one of us is Richard?!!
"I'm Richard, and so is my wife!"

e.g a nonprofit organisation that helps people, that requires its members to vote.
is all voting evil and wrong, even if it's not a political party?.
Yes, you're ok to vote for these sort of things.

so... this saturday, around the world, jw's will study the infamous july 15, 2013 wt.
please comment on all the bs and how the jw's take it, if you are a fader or a lurker.. let the games begin!
!.
Its the 4 week epic reversals of 8 (9?) major FDS teachings that JWs have held for up to 80 years.
And it has more holes than a string vest.

how many of us have had to deal with a version of that retort?!
it's hurtful and i suspect - for some - that's partly because of the nagging feeling that our families may have a point.. but do they?.
i was 15 when i got baptised, is it reasonable that as the 50 year old man i'll be on my next birthday i continue to be held to a decision i made as a schoolboy?.
It isn't the same religion that I was baptised into 25 years ago.

i think they know what they don't believe in, like no blood, no hellfire, no trinity....but they really couldn't explain what their beliefs are and why they believe as they do.
do you agree?
Our cong sometimes does a witness quiz night.
It would be revealing to have a few New Light questions in there so they could see for themselves.
