  So how exactly did this "new translation" come to be?

  a normal person, upon hearing that a new (or revised) bible translation has been released, would have 2 questions spring to mind almost immediately:.

  1) who did the work, and what are their credentials?.

  2) what manuscripts is the work based on?.

  It suits many to think the GB 'may' have done this or that, 'could' have learned hebrew and greek, 'probably' translated it from the originals (originals????), as this aligns to their preheld adoration of everything GB.

  To even consider an alternative would undermine the already shaky belief system that has been built, torn down, repaired and painted over, over the last century.

  Unless it is specifically stated by the GB, the next best thing is to conjecture something favourable and put all your trust in that being the most likely thing, and if anyone thinks differently then prove it!

  Pistoff No word if the most recent 'translators' are of the GENUINE anointed.

  Good comment.

  The GB are neither hebrew nor greek scholars, and none of the other anointed can provide food at the proper time since that is restricted to the 8 man FDS.

  So whoever produced this was not qualified to, one way or the other.

  A small observation from the AGM...

  ...but it struck me as significant anyway.. i attended at a jw assembly hall, and was sitting behind a pretty typical jw family.

  2 kids about ages 8 & 5, frazzled hen-pecked husband, and....the mom.

  Thanks Oubliette,

  I'm from the UK so as far as I'm concerned there's only New York, California and Disney Land in America. I just chose one and hoped .

  It's a bit like, to Americans there's only London and Scotland in the UK.
  If someone is especially educated there might be Manchester as well .

  Why the need for a new font?

  so with everything else being dissected, i want to know why it's important to have a font that can be copyrighted?.

  the font used is very similar to a number of others, like tahoma, ms sans serif, and arial etc, so what benefit is there to employing (in the loose sense of the word) a team in japan to create a brand new western set of glyphs?.

  will this help with their prosecution of those who copy/paste nnwt verses?.

  Here in the UK I was sat near an older gentleman (80+?) who was not satisfied with the length of clapping going on in the local assembly hall.

  When he realised the live audience were out clapping us he decided it must be a measure of our appreciation or faithfulness, so became the only one clapping in the hall once the local attendees had petered out but the NY audience were still going.

  In the end it took a nearby older sister to tell him "that's enough now".

  galations 5:19 2 peter 2:2 .

  a catch all phrase for apostates.

  The whole point of changing Loose Conduct to Brazen Conduct was to enlarge on the sexual element, losing that constraint.

  The argument goes, the original greek word did not just refer to something of a sexual nature but included a disposition or attitude.
  That is now reflected in Brazen Conduct.

  My interest in this revised NWT

  the biases of the earlier iteration of the nwt have been known and discussed from the appearance of the first appearance in 1950, and i assume the revised edition will be affected by the same prejudicial biases.

  one can cynically subscribe to the view that this is a financial bonanza and possibly a distraction from the imminent centenary of that distant significant date.. my interest will be to see how the impact of this revision evolves, particularly in the area of the wts's support material and on the impact its release will have on witnesses.
