me just learning the truth about the truth has just made it hard to even get through a two hour meeting at the the kingdom hall.
i get so sleepy during them and i almost cannot contain it!
the last time i went to a convention, i was still an avid believer but as you can see, that has changed.

check out this gem from the dec 2013 km which explains why it's good to over this book a second go round.. "congregations previously considered this book during 2004 and 2005. however, for many of the approximately two million publishers who have come into the truth since then, this will be the first time that jehovahs endearing qualities have been discussed in detail.for those who studied the book before, the review will help them to deepen their appreciation forjehovahs attributes.ps.119:14".
i gotta kick out of this because i can only think of maybe two or three new ones in our congregation who weren't present when this book was first studied.
at the same time, going over jehovah's qualities isn't something new.
And it's so old, you can't even download an epub version from their website - they only have it there as a PDF.
That's going to be rubbish for studying and following along on a tablet. Some ereaders don't even support PDF.
I looked for it online a moment ago, selected 'Books' and sorted in Newest First order. Five pages of publications came up.
Guess which page this book was on - yeah you got it, the last page, third from last book.
Only 'My Book of Bible Stories' and 'The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived' are older!

i conducted the wt study tonight on higher education.
i wondered what the reaction of the bros and sis would be.
there was no deviation from the idea that a university education is not a good idea.
For anyone wanting to get higher education, just refer to the 1992 WT article for justification and say you didn't know they had changed their minds.
Or if you have a degree say you got it when the WT left the decision up to us.
Or say you are hoping to become a lawyer for the WT, since the WT has degree qualified lawyers in its' ranks.
Ditto for Fund managers, Architects, Doctors, Dentists, Nurses, Draughtsmen, Project Managers, Pilots...
w92 11/1 p. 20 pars. 17-19 Education With a Purpose
"If Christian parents responsibly decide to provide their children with further education after high school, that is their prerogative."

YES - w51 10/1 p. 601 par. 7 Laying the Stone in Completion
The Gentile times ended in 1914 and the prophecies were fulfilled exactly as foretold at Matthew 24 and Luke 21, but have not been heeded by these millions.
NO - w55 10/15 p. 621 par. 1 The Triumphant Message of "The Kingdom"
Today, in this year 1955, the temple of Jerusalem is no more, as he foretold that it would not be, but his prophecy concerning "this good news of the kingdom" is being fulfilled.
YES - ws chap. 7 p. 61 par. 9 Settling Accounts Over the Use of Christ’s Funds
To mark his return, two wars of world proportions, accompanied now by many other wars of lesser proportions, have bloodied our earth. As predicted, these have been accompanied by famines, pestilences, and earthquakes, and by the increasing of lawlessness and the preaching of "this good news of the kingdom" in all the inhabited earth. This has fulfilled the details of what Jesus said would be "the sign of [his] presence and of the conclusion of the system of things."—Matthew 24:3-15.
IT APPLIES TO THE 1ST CENTURY - w92 6/15 p. 14 par. 14 Serving as Fishers of Men
For the needs of the first-century Christians, Jesus’ prophecy at Matthew 24:14 was fulfilled before Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 C.E.
YES - w92 5/1 p. 22 par. 19 Keep Awake in "the Time of the End"
As we look back over three quarters of a century, we can see how one prophecy after another has been fulfilled—the restoration of true worship; the deliverance of the anointed remnant, along with their companions, into a spiritual paradise; the preaching of the good news of the Kingdom on a global scale; the appearance of the great crowd. (Isaiah 2:2, 3; chapter 35; Zechariah 8:23; Matthew 24:14; Revelation 7:9)
NO - w93 5/1 p. 12 par. 7 Shedding Light on Christ’s Presence
(Matthew 24:7-14) Each Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses adds to the evidence that these aspects of the sign are being fulfilled.
YES - w95 9/1 pp. 17-18 par. 17 Christian Witnesses for Divine Sovereignty
Jesus said: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10) Has this prophecy been fulfilled? Indeed, it has.
NO - w97 8/15 p. 14 par. 11 Living for Today or for an Eternal Future?
There is also Jesus’ prediction that "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14) Today, Jehovah’s Witnesses carry out their work in 233 lands, island groups, and territories. True, untouched territories still exist, and perhaps in Jehovah’s due time, a door of opportunity will open.
do you prepare for meetings?
if i go i spend a few minutes underlinging my books/watchtower.. i have noticed that those who do the micks especially notice when your stuff is not underlined, and comments are made after the meeting, not so gentle hints, about study and preperation!
in other words i am being told off, its usually the ones who are highly critical of everything i do, sometimes their whole family seems to be straining to see if my stuff is underlined, i know this because i heard the daughter to family wisper her watchtower is not underlined!.
This is actually very guilting.
To know someone is looking over your shoulder at your non underlined magazine can be very humiliating and stressful because you know you are being judged for it.
I took the approach as above, that I just don't write in my books and that doesn't mean I've not pre-read or pre-studied it. Especially if I'm reading for the congregation do I not want scribbles and lines all over the page.
Get a tablet since many more of those go un-underlined.
After all, once the meeting is finished there's no difference in who can remember the main points, whether you have underlined or not.

what would you say are the best questions to ask a jw which they will not be able to answer and may make them question their beliefs?.
what (if you are a former jw) made you question the "truth"?.
Ask "Why do JW's change their teachings?"
This will give you the "new light" answer.
Ask two questions:
1. Where did the 'old' light come from - Jehovah? - Why would He give us false teachings? Imperfect men? - Then why should we listen to them?
2. How do you know what you are teaching today is also not going to be 'old light' tomorrow?
If you get "even the apostles had false expectations" then use the "but they never wrote anything down in the Bible that was false, since that's not Jehovah's way".
It will be a cyclical argument but is good fun for a few minutes entertainment.
You could spice it up a bit by asking "Is there anything that the GB could say that you would question, or do you accept absolutely everything they say each time as being 'truth'?"
I was once discussing the new FDS teaching with someone who said "it makes sense to me".
I said that "Whatever the GB says would 'make sense' to you."
They took offence.

i have some potentially controversial questions.. i have always wondered about these things in the back of my mind, but i would immediately dismiss them.
now i am giving myself permission to explore them further.... a lot of attention is given to how big the sacrifice was on the part of jesus and god when jesus laid down his life.
as the story goes, jesus gave his life for our sins and then was miraculously raised back to life a couple of days later.. consider this.
Isn't the phrase used "he was dead for parts of three days"?

i wondered what the reaction of the bros and sis would be.
there was no deviation from the idea that a university education is not a good idea.
Weren't they asking for free labour in the UK earlier this month, draughtsmen and other highly educated persons to help with the London bethel?
Even if that letter was read immediately after the 'no education' WT study, few if any in the congregation would see the hypocrisy or contradiction.

10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.
walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .
some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.
Anyone else and I would have thought twice about reading a long post like this one.
You're a lovely man Flipper, with a huge heart.
Thank you for sharing these thoughts. Keep on being a caring human being, an example to the rest of us.
