At least those who still have time (ie are not in their 60's already) can start to make some proper plans, knowing they will be retired at 70.

in a private conversation with a c.o.
friend from north carolina, he told me yesterday that they just got a letter that all traveling overseers (do's & co's) age 70 & up are going to be laid off on 09/01/2014.
they will be asssigned to local congregations and further details are pending.. .

we had an elderly pioneer/ms in our hall and he used to like to rattle the elders.
he liked using the "n" word in his comments.
he one time started to comment about the "ni##er pool" that he would observe among the poorer blacks.
When a MS asked why he was constantly overlooked for appointment as an elder he was told "because of your beard".
He said "But..... I don't have a beard?!?!"
The elder told him "Yes you do, you have a LIP BEARD!"
So a moustache is now a 'lip beard' in this particular congregation.
(raises eyebrows (eye beards?), rolls eyes, slaps forehead and shakes head)

why do the jw's insist that jesus was crucified on a stake??
the practice by the romans back in that time was to use a cross.
i've even heard of some witnesses say it was due to "lack of wood.
I would love for the sign of the son of man to be a cross - it would be recognised by the whole world as representing Christ.
(Matthew 24:30)
"Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief"
That would leave the Witnesses scratching their heads.

hi pepeep am attempting to get a current list of uk travelling overseers.
left 4 years ago and have heard rumours of many new ones.
.
According to the latest info, CO's "retire" at 70, even if it means cutting a three year visit in half.

i wonder, is this a new doctrine and when did "reason and scripture" take place.. .
page 25 paragraph 10 dec 15 2013 study wt.
10 the bread that the apostles could see and would soon partake of meant jesus body.
So for over half a century the anointed were partaking of the bread without knowing what it meant.
These included the handpicked and anointed ones of the FDS, from the famous 1914 era.
Picked by Jesus but unaware of what his most important instructions meant.

this is interesting.. the apostasy project is by the rationalist association and is helping those who wish to leave their religion do so:.

direct link to their video:.
Each year there's a resolution to pay for the khall insurance KHAA fund.
Also the CO's car fund TOAA.
Plus a set amount per pub per month for the international convention candidates.
Plus a set amount per pub for the local assembly hall.
Plus keeping extra funds with the SOC so they can invest/get the interest.
Plus CO expenses twice per year.
Plus the DC car parking costs scam.
Plus reminders at the DC, CA and SAD to contribute.
Plus the elders resolutions to give Circuit funds to the branch.
Plus the frequent "give us your money, shares and property" articles.
What have I missed?

got everyone all excited thinking the big "a" was coming and all it was about, was the literature would now be donated instead of charging for it.. .
Yes Gayle, it's bound to be that.
And the new names for Distric Assemblies etc.
It will all be forgotten in a week or two.

law school is obviously not the hardest program to follow.
it isn't something that can be replicated on the internet.
a first year student can find the law.
Hi BOTR,
I've seen you upset with other posters before, and I've always hoped that would not stop you from contributing.
I'm not into law, I specialised in other things but can see the same as you - Someone who has years of study/training, decades of experience, a real world value, and the comments you offer are ridiculed or tossed away.
For me, I actually get a sick sense of glee from it. I think "ok, let's see how this turns out for you then" and sit back to enjoy the show.
I've upset many people by saying that some are put on this earth for the amusement of others. Seems harsh? Well some are simply past the point of being educatable.
I look out for your posts and even cross-reference them with previous info you've posted. For me it would be a real shame if you stopped posting.

back in 1985 my then-wife and i were having a lunchtime "gathering" at our place to show some support to the ones in our congregation who were full-time pioneers.
i had just recently received the vinyl collection of the songs featured in the song book "sing praises to jehovah" which had been released the previous year.. .
many of these melodies sounded depressing to me although i would have never admitted it at the time.
There was a letter a couple of months ago instructing all congregations to download the latest 'improved' music from the jw website, for playing at the Hall.
Some songs were so hard to sing they changed them a bit, and all of them had a higher bitrate quality.
Why do we call them 'songs' when they are more properly called 'hymns' (from Hymnos) - religious songs?
