i cannot take credit for any of the gems below but i did want to polish and organize them.
much of the information was borrowed from this thread.
if you can come up with any more, please post them.. the bible does not ban birthdays.
Noah's birthday is recorded for us.
It was the day when Jehovah drained the water off the earth, and as a 601st birthday treat to himself Noah opened up the ark covering for some fresh air.
(Genesis 8:13) Now in the 601st year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters had drained from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was drying.

the us edition of the june kingdom ministry urges the still-active witnesses to get out and preach in august saying that it is fitting because the anniversary of the start of the time of the end will be in that month.
what arch hypocrites!.
they won't allow children to have birthdays but they celebrate a date on a calendar that suits their doctrinal purpose...which is itself virtually the "birthday" of the start of the time of the end - according to their doctrine.. perhaps the "celebrations" will backfire when they try to load 100 candles on the celebratory cake and there will be a huge burnout of faith in this man-made date.. besides, the organization was incorporated in 1876 - decades before 1914.. there may well be moments of unease when the few witnesses with operating brain cells realize the organization has kept them in panic-mode to urgently preach about an end that never comes.
Zoos JWs understand his rule as king started in 1914. WT stated doctrine is that his rule will last 1000 years.
In black and white from a recent WT:
w14 01/15 p. 16 para. 14-15:
"Even though Jehovah crowned his Son, Jesus Christ, as the Messianic King in 1914, this was not the full answer to our prayer “let your Kingdom come.”
When we pray for God’s Kingdom to come, we are asking God that the Messianic King and his associate rulers come to put an end to human rulership and remove the earthly opposers of the Kingdom.
The time for this to happen is very near. How fitting that our yeartext for 2014, the 100th anniversary of the establishment of God’s Kingdom in heaven, is Matthew 6:10: “Let your Kingdom come”!
After the Messianic King destroys God’s enemies, he will throw Satan and his demons into an abyss for a thousand years."
.
So to explain in logical terms, Jesus comes to rule in 1914. He rules for 100 or more years. Then at armageddon he rules again, this time for the stated 1000 years.

Zoos I think most JWs have not given any real thought to the significance of it being 100 years later... that there are only 900 years left of Christi's reign... that they were supposed to have an entire 1000 years to grow to perfection, but they're still dying.
You are correct, of course, but this is not what JW's believe.
This 100 years of Christ's reign is not part of his 1000 year rule. They are quite different!
Christ can rule for as long as he likes, before he rules for 1000 years.
Now does it make sense?

in the march 29th 2014 boe letter to be read to the congregations, this new donation arrangement is stated to be "an adjustment to financing kingdom hall and assembly hall construction worldwide".. this arrangement will remove the low-receipt kingdom hall construction worldwide (khcw) contribution boxes from kingdom halls.. incidentally, this used to be called the society kingdom hall fund (skhf) but this too never received very many contributions, even after it was rebranded and relaunched as khcw.. so how to increase revenues - another relaunch.. this time the voluntary and anonymous aspect is being focussed on, with a 'group responsibility' mindset instead.. don't ask the individuals to think about and contributing, ask the congregation as a whole, then fix it into a bank payment so it never gets forgotten and never decreases.. so why is this thread called 'double contribution'?.
the letter to be read says that this money will be used to "support the construction of theocratic facilities wherever they are needed".. so how does this differ from the worldwide work contribution box, according to a 2005 kingdom ministry?.

In the March 29th 2014 BoE letter to be read to the congregations, this new donation arrangement is stated to be "an adjustment to financing Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall construction worldwide".
This arrangement will remove the low-receipt Kingdom Hall Construction Worldwide (KHCW) contribution boxes from kingdom halls.
Incidentally, this used to be called the Society Kingdom Hall Fund (SKHF) but this too never received very many contributions, even after it was rebranded and relaunched as KHCW.
So how to increase revenues - another relaunch.
This time the voluntary and anonymous aspect is being focussed on, with a 'group responsibility' mindset instead.
Don't ask the individuals to think about and contributing, ask the congregation as a whole, then fix it into a bank payment so it never gets forgotten and never decreases.
So why is this thread called 'double contribution'?
The letter to be read says that this money will be used to "support the construction of theocratic facilities wherever they are needed".
So how does this differ from the Worldwide Work contribution box, according to a 2005 Kingdom Ministry?
*** km 4/05 p. 1 par. 2 Do Good and Share With Others ***
One way we can benefit others is by sharing our “valuable things.” (Prov. 3:9) Our contributions to the worldwide work make it possible for Kingdom Halls, Assembly Halls, and branch facilities to be built throughout the world.
So essentially, there will now be a contribution box AND a monthly congregation bank order to send money to the Society, which will be used for the vague purpose of constructing "theocratic facilities", whatever that may include.
Like docile sheep, JW's have been fleeced for decades. It's only getting more intense.
My suggestion, if there's any opportunity to ask questions on the night, is to publicly ask "If we already donate to the worldwide work which is also used to build facilities, what's the difference between that and this new arrangement? Why do we need to donate to both?"
Even if there is no opportunity to ask this publicly, discuss it privately after the announcement.
You never know, a simple thought like this might get congregation members reasoning for themselves, after all, JW's are notoriously tight fisted when they can reason their way out of spending money.

ive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.
And it's not just Candace Conti who's got them excited.
As far as I'm aware, the Australian Branch were recently summoned to the Australian Royal Commission investigation that is taking place there, to tell their side of the story.
If this goes bad for them in Australia, there's going to be a pretty hefty compensation bill at the end of it. Better to fill the coffers now, before the congregations wake up to the fact that WT are no different to all the other religions and quit donating altogether.

the governing body is powerful, but the holy spirit is infinitely more powerful.
if the wt ever changes, it will be because of a movement such as this.. .
but sanctify the christ as lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.
