10'Peace and Security' - What do you think?
by startingover13 inwoke up this morning to my cnn app alerting me that popel francis has called for peace in the middle east, and is making arrangements to meet with leaders in that region to promote tolerance and acceptance.
i've been out for almost a year now, inactive for almost two, but in that moment all of the jw teachings about the signs on the end, the cry of peace and security, and what would happen to those that aren't serving jehovah returned to me.
24 years of teachings are hard to forget, and reading the story on cnn.com didn't help the situation.

Coincidentally, the last WT (March 2014) studied at the meetings was all about how grateful we should be to have older ones in the congregations, and how you have a responsibility to care and provide for them.
Of course, the primary repsonsibility lies with the family of an older one - we wouldn't want congregation funds being used for such a thing now would we!
When it describes the help the congregation can give it says that for those "who qualify" and are "exemplary", a "temporary arrangement" can be set up to help the older ones to "benefit from government and social programs", and notify their children of any need (if the children live some distance away).
"Some Christians may volunteer their time and energy" if they choose to do so, again removing any responsibility from the congregation itself or the elders to part with any cash.
You can also help the older ones with "strengthening words" and laughing about things instead of getting depressed. Don't they say that words come cheap?The counsel to the older ones is to not be demanding but to have a happy disposition.
I don't think the WT thought they would ever have to write an article about how to care for the faithful, exemplary older ones in the congregation, when 45 years ago they were telling everyone that they would never grow old at all!

A glaring example of how Watchtower's insertion of "Jehovah" corrupts the NT
by Island Man in"the rnwt replaces "kyrios" (lord) with "jehovah" in translating romans 14:8 as follows:.
"for if we live, we live to jehovah,*+ and if we die, we die to jehovah.

by OUTLAW in.. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts,filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn,that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls,they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter,only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...
.. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...
are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...

I don't know (and can't be bothered to find out) what the correct procedure or wording should be, but I'd be surprised if they are done correctly.

The term 'racist' is applied just as unjustifiably in politics, as 'apostate' is in the JW's.
And with the same objective - to put people in a labelled box and shut down thinking.
That word has become so overused as an everyday, unthinking insult, it's true meaning has been all but lost.

JWs in a frenzy!
by leaving_quietly inanyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

Midweek Meetings no longer Necessary
by Tech49 ini am sure we have all seen the recent letter to the boe concerning the change that will take place to the meeting arrangement during the week of the co visit.
to recap the basics: the meeting that usually contains the cong bible study (book study) and a co talk will be discontinued, publishers are encouraged to use their family worship night that week to cover book study material.. so here is a point that i think has been missed, or not even considered:.
if that particular meeting is hereby deleted from the schedule, the co and his wife will never ever have to participate in or go to another "book study", or "bible study" night again.

The CO's do love to work alongside the factory workers (publishers).
How else will they get ammunition to hammer the elders with?
It is by the CO going on the ministry with your average joe publisher that the elders are kept in a state of anguish over what the CO may hear.Splash.

1928 The Messenger PDF
by cabasilas ininformation on how to download the 1928 messenger in pdf will be given at the bottom of this post.. the messenger was the name given by the watchtower society for an occasional watchtower publication that reviewed conventions for bible students/jehovah's witnesses in the 1920s to 1940s.
there were issues published for (not a complete list) 1928, 1931, 1938 and a couple other years.
(perhaps someone else could give a complete list for us?
