last sunday my wife and i went walking in the cheviot hills in the beautiful northumberland national park not far from our home.
we have walked a lot of the cheviots in recent months and intend to get around a lot more over the summer.. this week we decided to go up a few of the smaller hills in the north of the park so we headed for a peak known as yeavering bell.
it was used as a hill fort since the iron age.
Nice one cofty, thanks for sharing!

so many questionn perhaps will be answer by this investigation/independent audit and perhaps some follow up untanglement of funds in the proliferation of different corporations that are under the gbs control.. i think 2014 is going to be a very interesting year for the wt corporation.
o and how do do feel about the whistleblower policy implimentation for all those that bring in 1,000,000 dollars or more annually.
can you imagine the wt corporation problems with that little gem, they can't disfelloship him or dismiss a whistleblower my my my.. .
Thanks for the commentary.
Keep us posted on your findings please.

my spouse felt a need to tell to elders about me reading apostate websites and speaking against wt stuff , so they'll probably try to readjust my apostate thinking any time soon.
my spuse never see me reading anything but, during our arguments i did't keep my mouth shut and she knows that i had to read it somwhere and it wasn't jw.org.
could this get my in the trouble if my spose is the only witness and never spoke to another person about this stuff ?
1. Suck up the counsel and tell them you'll never do it again. Honest.
2. Speak to your spouse to see what she said exactly, then find WT references to back up what you said.
3. Deny everything. Say it is your own thinking. Risk upsetting your spouse.
Then learn to be more cautious.

three different headlines on bbc and walesonline, thought you might see how jw elders are picked by the un-holy spirit!.
Shame the picture doesn't have him wearing a convention badge.

forgive me if this has been covered.
last year i did a synopsis of the convention, but my wife decided she did not want to go this year (thats a win), so i didn't either.
a good friend of mine however tipped me to something in david splanes talk.. its pretty mild, but seems a bit wacky.
Isn't the third heaven our current spiritual paradise?
I've seen something on this board recently that discusses this.

breaking news :charity commission takes watchtower to charity tribunal in britain.
two weeks ago we run an article about the abuse case in moston manchester congregation .it would seem that the coverage from the main local newspaper manchester evening news and two national newspapers has alarmed the charity commission the official regulator for charities in england and wales and now for the first time !
they opened an official investigation on both charities ,the local one ,moston congragation and the central one jehovah's witnesses of britain indicating that in their eyes these two are connected and liable for any misconduct .this is the time for a concentrated campaign from all of us to inform the charity commission why the watchtower should not be a called a charity .the article above has a link for the charity commission complaint page .follow it!.
Talk about derailing a thread.

ADCMS, adding points 12 and 13.
12. Have unqualified men interrogate the victim, making them describe the abuse in fine detail.
13. Threaten and disfellowship the victim so noone else can talk to them to hear their side.

if i remember right(unlikely, lol) it was a one-page article about the tetragrammaton which concluded by saying that even though "jehovah" was 'probably' not an accurate pronunciation, it is a widely-recognized and accepted english transliteration of the divine name.
i was thinking it was on the last page or maybe the back cover of a wt pub - maybe a watchtower.. can someone please direct me to the publication it was in?
i read it when i was still 'in' and it made me stop and think about how much emphasis the wt puts on that name, all while knowing it's not the name.
*** rs p. 202 Jehovah’s Witnesses *** How old is the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses?"
"According to the Bible, the line of witnesses of Jehovah reaches back to faithful Abel"
More clever word-smithing from the wt.
This question is about the beliefs, the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses, which go back to to the late 1800's.
The answer centres (textually and literally) on the word 'witnesses', something altogether different.

manchester new moston congregation of jehovah's witnesses is at the centre of reports that a convicted offender was allowed to question his victims at a public meetingthe charity commission has opened an operational compliance case into a manchester-based jehovahs witness congregation following concerns about how it protects vulnerable beneficiaries.. the commission said it was in discussions with manchester new moston congregation of jehovahs witnesses after reports in the manchester evening news that a congregation member, jonathan rose, who was recently released from prison after serving nine months for the indecent of assault of two girls, was allowed to question his victims in front of congregation elders.
the victims were required to recount the abuse at the meeting in order to have rose barred from the church, the paper says.. a spokeswoman for the commission said: "the commission has ongoing serious concerns about the manchester new moston congregation of jehovahs witnesses in connection with its policies and procedures for the protection of vulnerable beneficiaries.
we are engaging with the charitys trustees about our concerns.
Even if the procedures were bulletproof, many elders are either too proud or too incompetent to follow instructions.
