why do jehovah's witnesses as individual members readily think that apostates are having a sweeping mass delusion?
if some jw's have known you for a long time do they really think you based everything on some random delusion you randomly had instead of confirming the information?.
it's quite retarded even the bible itself is contradicting them in jeremiah about the 70 years.. i know some know, and some choose not to know but what about the rest?.
Short but true story:
I was once in London, late at night. No, make that in the very early hours. Anyway, we're talking about midnight to 3:00am.
I wanted to see how the city was at that time. I wanted to meet the people, the homeless, the disaffected. Just see what went on. It's a very different place.
I was sat in Trafalgar Square on a bench talking to a very interesting young homeless man. He had a real knowledge of the city at night, and boy was he street smart! Anyway, two girls came along, I'm guessing late teens early twenties, and stood nearby. With a wink the guy I was with told me to "watch this" and went over to talk to them.
He politely said Hello and asked where they were staying. One of the girls screamed at him. Literally screamed and postured and threatened. He remained calm and polite, and every civil question and statement of his was returned with intense abuse and fury.
After a while he came back and told me he knew that was going to happen and I asked "how?"
He saw how frightened and vulnerable one of the girls appeared. She was uncomfortable being out in unfamiliar territory, and she thought the best way to look 'strong' and confident was to yell and scream and abuse. The opposite was clear though, she was out of her depth and had "clueless" tattooed on her forehead for all to see. Her overreactions were actually comical, yet she thought she was looking tough and competent.
I'll never forget that evening. That experience and others from the same night made a strong impression on me.
ARS, you are a young girl, lost and afraid and looking comical.

"Higher education, with its emphasis on academic study, often produces graduates who have few or no practical skills, leaving them unprepared to deal with the realities of life."
Besides, if you earn enough after graduating you pay those with cheaper skills to fix your car, install your washing machine and paint your fence. Where's the problem?

with hopefully a good deal of interest here in the conti appeal tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are), i thought that on my ride home from work tonight i'd preview what to expect and what i think the key issues are for any who are interested.
i have had a busy few weeks and haven't had time to read everything, but i had some time to look at the appeal briefs during my work commute the past couple days.
it'll be interesting to see what develops out of the network news coverage of this case.
Trailer Park Pioneer. What turns my stomach the most, is the WT recognised the mental health issues years ago, but have never done anything about it.
*** g04 3/8 p. 29 Watching the World ***
Some reasons suggested for the rise in workplace stress, anxiety, and depression include an older work force that finds it more difficult to keep up, heavier work loads, and modern technology that keeps employees connected to their work, resulting in a “never-ending workday.” According to Dr. Richard Earle, of Toronto’s Canadian Institute of Stress, employers can help “by educating managers on how to identify and deal with psychological illnesses and by providing employer-assistance programs and other services.”
There is absolutely no practical help or assistance for such older ones. Their promised dreams are shattered, their lives all but gone, their daily living is hard.
WT is 'Psychological Illnesses R Us'.

When children commence school, many parents notice a change in thinking and attitude in their children. Some become more difficult to manage because of the environment in which they now find themselves.
being that this is not "ex jws" and in fact, more driven by atheists talking a bunch of crap, im not even going to address you people like you know anything about jws because you dont.
nor am i going to assume you know the bible because none of you do.. and yes, im speaking down at you all because you men have actually went out your way to make a site to speak down at an entire group of people.
yet i bet you cant even handle a single uswer talking down at you, like you talk down about jws can you?.
I think it's very telling and informative that the angriest, shoutiest, least able to reason persons are those that drop on here as WT apologists. Poor ARS did nothing apart from declare his thoughts to be truth, and the whole rest of the world is wrong. No-one in their sane mind would ordinarily believe such nonsense.
This is, of course, the cult mentality coming out. It's no different to an extremist muslim declaring a fatwa against someone who can logically and provably disagree with them.
It is learned behaviour. Sitting in the meetings, talking with the local JW's, a differing opinion is never tolerated. It is judged harshly and there are severe consequences. Your mind HAS to be made up for you, and you HAVE to acquiesce.
I've seen this exact same thing on JW Friendly boards. Someone will ask an innocent question, and the responses are judgmental, hostile, accusative. The person asking is badgered, their motives questioned. Any elders on the board rally together to intentionally misunderstand the question and read terrible things into it. They are instantly defensive. The person asking is put under public suspicion until they apologise, justify themselves etc. It is truly horrible.
Since first becoming aware of this mind destroying conduct, I see it everywhere with the JW's. You cannot even have a one-on-one discussion without these demons emerging. And when all reason fails there is the fall back position "Are you questioning The Slave?" (large gasp and intake of breath, then recoil at the thought).
To question, to think for oneself, to use logic, to look at facts, to be reasonable, these things will get you in very deep trouble every time, and I mean EVERY time.
ARS is just one more going through the exact same aggressive, nasty, routine of telling non-JW's they are stupid and wrong, and the GB are right. Then the GB completely reverse a long held teaching but they are still right and always have been. It beggars belief to hear an adult reason like a child, and I actually find it very sad that they willingly give up their minds so readily to an organisation who are wrong so completely.

PS. The sun is older than the planets in our solar system. It has to form first, then the planets coalesce around it. Even if we saw this happening with our own eyes, people like ARS would instinctively close theirs so as not to see the truth of things.

Nitty-Gritty: The elders are not and never have been marriage councilors nor psychologists nor doctors and have not claimed to be such
I cannot disagree with this, but it's not the whole story.
There was a recent video put out by the GB for the instruction of elders and MS's.
Essentially it was about a sister who had lost her husband a year ago and was still grieving - to the point of contemplating suicide.
If you were approached by this lady, knowing you were completely untrained, ill equipped and inexperienced with this sort of problem, what would you do - refer her to her doctor for proper medical advice, or play at being a psychologist and come up with a few ideas?
Don't forget, if you get this wrong, she may kill herself.
Well the advice the elders gave her in this instructional video was for her to repeat out loud every day "I am an integrity keeper", as if her suicidal thoughts were because she lacked integrity to God - a suggested accusation that would no doubt make her feel worse, not better.
So while you say "elders are not doctors", neither are they trained to demonstrate humility, recognise their limitations, or take the most sensible course of action. They are told they have the ability to help persons, when really they cannot. They cannot set a broken leg, they cannot fix a broken mind, they are not equipped to deal with the complexities of marriage problems.
But they will recklessly and unashamedly try to.

I feel sorry for the highly qualified, widely experienced experts who volunteer their skills.
They will be used to working for professional clients or companies.
All of a sudden they will find themselves under a 'supervisor' who has no clue about the work, no idea how to manage people, and they will be expected to toe the line in the face of the most ridiculous ideas and requests.
Personally, I couldn't lower my standards to such a level.

during the course of the year congregations pass a number of resolutions to send money to the branch.
this year i've resolved to count all money grab endeavors.
so far for the month of january there were two locally:.
wannaexit 2. it was resolved to send $500.00 for the care of the circuit overseer's car and medical expenses.
I thought this was paid for by the branch.
If the CO gets this each week from the congregations he visits, that's a very useful $26k salary he's got there!
