  i saw this on ex jw reddit:"this may not be news to you but it was to me.

  forgive me if this has already been posted before.

  it came from a reliable source working on the warwick project.. wallkill bethel had broken ground and laid the foundation for a new recreation building.

  the disbanding of the Portishead congregation and the closure of the hall they shared with Clevedon.
  

  I'm wondering why this congregation is disbanded. Is it due to lack of attendance, merging congregations to sell a hall, or something else?

  How Comfortable Are The Governing Body At Headquarter After This Massive Lay Off?

  this lay off and all the child molestation lawsuits coming to a head with more lay off in the wings.

  i'm sure there is a lot of concern going on among those still there.

  i'm sure a lot are finding out for the first time that the governing body are all frauds by doing secure internet searches to find out just how much they been had by these villans , i think the situation could be dangerous (the possibility exist).

  Jesus said in Mt 25:41 "Go away from me, you who have been cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the Devil."

  What would cause Jesus to issue such a strong condemnation? The following verses explain "You gave me nothing to eat or drink, you did not show hospitality to me or take care of me."

  By saying "me" Jesus explained that doing things to his brothers is the same as doing things to him.

  If the GB kick out any old anointed from any bethel, they fulfil Jesus description perfectly and are cursed in his eyes.

  "Obey" or "Be persuaded" at Hebrews 13.17

  various posters have apparently concluded that the wt society is wrong by quoting hebrews 13.17 as a reason for christians to submit to, and be "obedient" to those taking the lead among them.

  they have pointed out that the greek word for obedience is "hypakouo" or some other, not "pei'tho" which is the one that appears in the beginning of verse 17 at hebrews ch.

  their motive for their objections may be one of rancor brought about by the extreme authoritative measures the society have imposed on the brotherhood.

  Good topic Wonderment.

  If the English word doesn't exist to accurately translate this type of 'obey' then a phrase should be used to maintain the meaning, such as 'become convinced to believe and follow' (which is pretty clumsy).

  There is a difference between these two 'obeys', but how best to represent that?

  mans requirements are limited which can be satisfied with a little and tension-free endeavor..

  however man attempts not only to collect but also to grab and amass everything to the excess.

  somehow he feels that he can be happy only when he has in abundance whereas others have nothingwhich seems to be the thread that runs throughout the history.

  hi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.

  as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.

  that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

  Hi thewalker. The feelings of confusion, guilt, disappointment, fear - they are common to many of us here.

  There's no cure, only working things out for yourself, what you see and hear, what you are taught, what you believe.

  If you've been lurking then you know what this site is all about.
  Most here have been through all the emotions and decided the WT has many lovely people in it, but the teachings are becoming more and more difficult to believe, and the leadership more and more disconnected from reality.

  For something that demands to control every aspect of my life I need it to be flawless, and the WT is clearly demonstrating hypocrisy, unkindness and that it has lost its way.

  I hope you find what you're searching for.

  music and art have been a big part of my life since i was a little boy, and although i was never able to play a decent guitar, i can paint.

  my art teacher from college said " i was the most imaginative and constructive pupil she had ever had.

  " i loved that comment, because in translation i realised it meant i had to work harder than other more naturally talented students, but the effort was always worth it.

  Correlation decline JW numbers and JW broadcasting?

  i read some impressive figures here about the decline of the jw numbers in 2015.. could there be a correlation between this decline and the start of jw broadcasting?.

  hence, that there would be an negative impact because the gb is standing so nearby, you can experience the idiot reasoning of their doctrines sitting in your own living room?.

  the wt has been reducing it's printed output of the public wt magazine since 2012.this is how the figures breakdown:.

  month ................. wt printing each issue ............. total pages per issue ..... languagesjanuary 2012 ....... 42,182,000 .................................. 1,349,824,000 ...................... 194january 2016 ....... 58,987,000 .................................. 943,792,000 ......................... 254. during 2012 the public wt had 32 pages, so there were 1.35 billion wt pages printed for the public to read each month.1,349,824,000 pages x 12 months = 16,197,888,000 (16.2 billion) pages per year.

  by 2016 the public wt has only 16 pages and is being printed only on alternate months.943,792,000 pages x 6 times per year = 5,662,752,000 (5.7 billion pages per year).
