i remember tons of young ones getting counseled for being too young to date and for marriage.
the elders said, "marriage is the 2nd biggest dedication of your life (baptism being 1st), at 20 you still don't know who you are or what you want.
you can't possibly make a decision like that, that young!
The Society say that marrying as a teenager is too young, but have no qualms about encouraging baptism at an even earlier age.
*** w71 9/1 p. 526 par. 8 Fortify Yourself So as to Maintain Integrity ***
Then there are the young teen-agers who think they must “date” and “go steady,” as many children of today do... They are too young to get married, but they want to satisfy the desires that are building up inside them.
*** w85 7/15 p. 19 par. 15 ‘Run in Such a Way That You May Attain the Prize’ ***
Failing to recognize that “foolishness is tied up with the heart of” youngsters, some parents have allowed their children to associate closely with worldlings, attend unsavory social affairs, and even date when far too young for marriage.
*** w93 4/1 p. 21 Growing Up With Jehovah’s Organization in South Africa ****** w99 2/15 p. 5 What Is Needed for a Successful Marriage? ***
“It is very risky to get married too young,” says Nikki, who was 22 when she married. She cautions: “Your feelings, goals, and tastes will continue to change from the time you are in your late teens until you are in your mid-to-late 20’s.”
*** w01 5/15 p. 20 par. 15 Divine Guidance for Selecting a Marriage Mate ***
Eighteen-year-old Blossom thought that she was in love with a young man in her congregation... But her parents asked her to wait one year, feeling that she was still too young. Blossom later wrote: “I am so thankful that I listened to that wise advice. Within the year, I matured some
Sound marital advice that does not extend to what the WT say is MORE important than baptism:
*** w92 10/1 p. 22 ‘Should I Get Baptized?’ ***
Ayumi got baptized when she was ten years old. She wanted to serve Jehovah because she really came to love him. Now she is 13 and just had the experience of seeing her Bible student, who has also come to love Jehovah, get baptized at the age of 12. Ayumi’s younger brother Hikaru was also baptized at the age of ten. “Some said I was too young,” he recalls, “but Jehovah knew how I felt.
i know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).
An elder brought this topic up with me. His family is not very well off.
He described it as a "give us your money" talk.
I agreed. I said we are now televangelists.

If anyone should have worked it out by now, the GB should have;
JW's are among the most tight fisted, short changing, payment dodging, low tippers of any group on earth.
My guess is that, while being mostly at the low end of the education and income scale they have learned this skill from their masters.
we (and by 'we', i mean my wife) decided that we should try something new and she, erm, i mean 'we', liked the idea of painting.
so i enthusiastically (i.e.
begrudgingly) went along for the night to the "pain nite" event she'd booked us for a couple of weeks ago.. the premise is pretty simple: it's held in a pub or restaurant, all the art supplies are provided, the instructor then walks you through how to reproduce a painting they have chosen for the night and you have a glass of wine or beer, do some painting, have something to eat, have some more wine, more painting, more wine, realize you are drinking the dirty paint water and so on.. here's the site: https://www.paintnite.com/.
That is beautiful!
The softness of the painting perfectly suits the tranquility of the subject - it's very dreamy.
It may not be as detailed as the original Canoe Sunset, but I prefer it - I'd rather have that hanging on my wall.
Well done, fantastic!
up until 1954, the watch tower society said that the symbolism of the memorial loaf included the little flock and that the wine represented their sharing in jesus death.
(one example: the loaf pictures not jesus fleshly body but his body members, the christian congregation.
the watchtower, march 15, 1954, page 174).
CloseTheDoor It was in the early 50's that the Org. taught the bread symbolized the "unity of the body of Christ" -- and in other words, "the Christ", the anointed believers.
It goes back further than the 1950's!
w1880 April (No. 10)
p.8
if we are Christ's, we are part of the
same loaf; to be broken as He was; to die, as He did to the flesh - crucifying
the flesh. "The loaf, which we break, is it not the communion of the body
of Christ?"
according the watchtower study of may 10th, it has been made clear no prophetic meaning should be given to a a scripture or passage unless the bible itself gives clear interpretation of it.
therefore daniel 7 especially gives it's fulfillment to nebuchadnezzar only.
no future kingdom or 2520year wait til 1914. no gentile times or "this generation".
Island Man Quote me the phrase in this week's Watchtower study where they clearly admit that their type-antitype teachings were false.
-- w97 9/1 p. 13 Beware of False Teachers! "There will also be false teachers among you."—2 PETER 2:1.
"Wisely, we take note of how false teachers introduce their corrupt thinking. Peter first says that they do it quietly, or in an unobtrusive, subtle way."

Didn't they flip back to 'Christs congregation' after that 1956 wt, then flop back to 'Christ's literal body' again?
FLIP *** w57 4/1 p. 199 “The Lord’s Evening Meal” ***
"It therefore follows that only those who belong to spiritual Israel, or Christ’s body, may properly partake. “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of the Christ? The loaf which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of the Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, although many, are one body, for we are all partaking of that one loaf.' ”—1 Cor. 10:16, 17"
I like the thought that for 36 years (1919 - 1957) the F&DS didn't understand why they were partaking of the loaf, or even better, that for 77 years (since the first mention of the loaf being the congregation in 1880 - 1957) the anointed didn't properly grasp the meaning of such a special institution.
w13 12/15 p. 25 par. 10 'Do This in Remembrance of Me'
At one time, God’s servants felt that... the bread meant "the body of the Christ," the congregation of anointed ones. In time, however, it was appreciated that both reason and Scripture indicate that the bread represents Jesus’ human body.
If "reason and scripture indicate" this, was the wrong teaching, held for 77 years, unreasonable and unscriptural? If so, was it wise or discreet to teach it?
heyo!.
i'm quite interested in knowing the average age of those of us who use this forum.
i made a quick strawpoll that you can find at the following link: http://strawpoll.me/4340636 just pick an age and click "vote" if you wish to participate.. admins: if this breaks any rules, i apologize in advance..
So 75% of us are in the 30-60 range, evenly spread out!
I wonder if the 20-30 bracket is so low because nowadays those who wake up in that age bracket just leave with little need for a forum like this.
Good straw poll!
stephen lett about 33 minutes in to may's "liar liar" episode of the monthly worship broadcast said "jehovah's witnesses have the most multilingual speakers of any organization in the world!".
the catholic church has the most people i thought, do you think he's telling the truth and where is he getting these facts?
i finally broke down and decided to watch this in order to work on my reverse witnessing skills, lots of ammunition for anyone needing fuel to extinguish their dirty flames of lies!.
I wonder if the JW's have the most thinkingest multilingual speakers of any organisation in the world.
