  Canada Branch Finances - What's Going On?

  an update on the canada branch hasn't been made (i think).. year-over-year, canada's equity decreased by 11 million in 2012, 17 million in 2013.. however, the 2014 report shows a huge increase (20 million) in the cost of "purchased supplies.

  " with the shrinkage of the mags, and the push to online, how the heck did this go from 39 million to 58 million?.

  even with this number, the equity in 2014 went down by a staggering 56 million.. what the heck is going on?.

  i had served in a lot of congregations over the years and had seen a lot of crazy goings on, but this particular elder was high up on the "crazy list".

  JWdaughter That guy looked like a JW elder. Few dress like that even in corporate positions anymore

  That's a good observation.

  Times are changing in the business world as far as accepted norms for business wear.

  JW's will stick to the 1980's formula until they are told by a CO or the GB that they no longer need a suit jacket and tie.
  I can't remember the last time I had a business meeting with someone dressed like this, it dates them to a time and mindset that's no longer relevant.

  jehovah`s witnesses make a big deal about the 2 or 3 witnesses in judicial decisions yet they ignore that evidence when it suits them.. firstly :.

  regarding the length of a generation matthew ch.1:17 gives a strong clue ,their are 3 lots of 14 generations mentioned which equal 42 generations from the time of abraham to jesus .. watchtower publications give abrahams birth as 2018 bc......they also give jesus birth as of 2 bc a period of 2016 years .

  smiddy Your making the mistake of thinking the total years of ones life is a generation.

  Taking all assumptions out of the equation and looking solely at the Bibles use of the term #generation we find this.

  What is the Bible's definition of a Generation:

  35 years: (Job 42:16, 17) "And Job continued living after this a hundred and forty years and came to see his sons and his grandsons—four generations.
  

  37 years: Jerusalem was destroyed about 37 years later when Jesus said "this generation will by no means pass away"

  38 years: Deut 2:14 - And the days that we walked from Ka′desh-bar′ne·a until we crossed the torrent valley of Ze′red were thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war had come to their end.

  (Mt 1:17) "All the generations, then, from Abraham until David were fourteen generations, and from David until the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon until the Christ fourteen generations". When you read the list in Matthew, none of them are described as overlapping:
  65 years - Abraham to David : 2018BCE -> 1107BCE / 14 generations
  35 years - David to deportation : 1107BCE -> 607BCE / 14 generations
  45 years - Deportation to Christ : 607BCE -> 29CE / 14 generations

  He's just repeating the introductory paragraph from the Dummy's Guide to CRM's.

  I wouldn't employ someone who can't speak understandably to the customer or who tries to look good using the latest technobabble. Stick that in your CRM guide to looking stupid.

  No More Literal Peaceful Animals in Paradise?

  there is a quote in the new june episode of jw broadcasting, which says isaiah 11:6 applies to people inside the congregations now who have their personalities transformed.. in the 1980's and 1990's, when i attended meetings all the time, i always heard them say this scripture had a literal fulfillment and the animals will be at peace with one another.. here is the scripture:.

  isaiah 11:6 (nwt): the wolf will reside for a while with the lamb, and with the young goat the leopard will lie down, and the calf and the lion and the fattened animal will all be together; and a little boy will lead them.. after hearing the quote, i did a search on jw.org, and i found this statement regarding that scripture:.

  fisherman The word guilty is not found in the Civil Jury's verdict. And neither did the verdict say that he was found guilty by the jury. The terms guilt and guilty (you answered yes) are terms that you have selected to describe Civil Court findings but they are not used in any legal way in the Civil Court documents to apply to its findings.

  i started posting on the ex community about five years ago since two of my children have remained under the jw spell.

  back then i had little tangible hope of seeing the downfall of the org.

  i now see evidence of big cracks forming in their hermetic carapace..

  After seeing some of their recent film length videos, I wonder how much it costs to produce one of these.

  They are building new studios so the emphasis is going to be on more films. Even the current Regional Convention has something like 40 video clips dotted throughout.

  I can see the mid week meetings becoming nothing more than a series of brothers introducing videos, then hosting Q&A sessions on them.
