Sorry for your loss, Poppers. What a terrible thing. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer, I heard. Positive energy to you! I hope you'll be okay and wish I could do more than just offer condolences. Words are rather meaningless sometimes.

Snares of the Devil - Questioning the motives of those who pioneer
by Quarterback inthe wt for today, can't remember exactly what paragraph, stated the dangers of the tongue.
it went further to mention that we wouldn't want to question the motives of a sister who was appointed in the congregation as a pioneer.
there was even a picture to add emphasis.. who on earth questions that?

Badmouthing is hardly a Sister/female only thing. Everybody does it and for years, way before learning TTATT, it always amazed me how many JWs enjoy nasty gossiping or even slander. Made me wonder how that could be if it were "God's Organization" (and you can't blame everything on imperfection).
Speaking of Pioneers, some of the most annoying, most obnoxious people that I have met in the Org happened to be Pioneers. And they had their noses up so high they might have sniffed the dust in the Orion Nebula. They would often categorize people in Pioneers and non-Pioneers, the latter being beneath them. For many it's all about the glory they get.

After 2:17 I couldn't take it anymore. What a load of crap. Cedars, how can I get to un-know these guys? Someone send the Men in Black? The worst fault of that colleague is that he doesn't yield to the Governing Body's authority... Some publications indicate that you don't always have to be specific. Doesn't the bible show that God knows what's on our mind and what we need, before we do?

Here's a comment from a friend of mine, I e-mailed him the quote from the WT article:
"...It is nausseating! That borderlines on the perverse.
It is not like they are advising families to be wary of people who have left, and that they may tell you how much they enjoy their lives, but they are robbing them of their free will, and their choice of how to associate with their family members. The arrogance to force a mother to not speak with her children or for a son to disown his father that raised him...have they no conscience? This is nothing more than blatant manipulation...really angers me for some reason. Even as an agnostic secular person, I find it highly insulting and offensive. They seem to want to enslave people...they dont want faith or fellowship, but servitude." In the past months we talked a lot about TTATT, he always had a listening ear, despite knowing little about JWs he was very understanding. I'm glad he never got into a cult like this. Yesterday I thought about making an advert in the local newspaper with parts of this quote from the Article, perhaps adding a short comment that exposes the coldheartedness in these policies. It might keep people away from the Witnesses and might make them more careful to not listen to the Witnesses when they come knocking the next time.

My Wife's Theory
by breakfast of champions indiscussing the recent boe letter regarding child molestation this morning with my wife (she actually brought it up) , and she commented on how absurd it was - it just did not make sense!
but there was one way that it could make sense.
she said "what if someone at the top on the governing body was a child molester and wanted to cover everything up?

Breakfast of Champions, regardless of why these dummies really come up with their idiotic policies, I am glad your wife actually brought it up and that she sees how little sense it makes.

The sad thing isn't what these sick people publish, it's that too many follow these guidelines. And as Londo said, to non JWs they have the galls to say that they don't shun. SICK B*st*rds.

Jesus=The archangel Michael?
by WatchTowerofBabel in(the first chapter of hebrews seems quite explicit on the issue).
but since scriptural texts don't seem quite enough for my jdub kinfolks (wtf?
), i tried to find out where this poppycock idea first popped up.. .

Thanks Blondie. Never knew they had such drastically different views of who Michael is. But why am I even surprised?

There is something that has always bothered me...
by braincleaned init always bothers me that the society boasts unity, as jehovah's witnesses don't have other branches and groups stemming from them, like the amish for example.
the wts is justified to brag unity of belief; to the point where the same program is taught in the whole world.. i blame those who leave and yet continue to believe in jehovah and jesus (i'm an atheist).
it seems a schism is above those who dissent from the org.

The unity is especially enjoyable when you start questioning and having your own opinions about some matters. The unity is only maintained by means of tight control and kicking anyone out who may pose a threat to it, whether intended or not. Forced conformity it is! Some have to pay dearly for it.

starting fresh
by rather be in hades inwhen you left, did you feel the need to start your life over?
how did you go about reconciling who you were with how you feel now?.
better yet, for those born/raised in, how did that transition affect you and are you ok with who you used to be?.

There's no reason for shame. Think about all the illusions other people hold on to. I think every single person alive has some kind of illusion they accept and never confront. Many are afraid of looking truths in the eyes, truths about themselves, or their circumstances or their spouse or something else. It's human nature. Sure, we were in a cult, but that doesn't mean we were weak minded. Staying in the cult despite what we've come to know would mean we are weak minded.
It's a whole other story for born ins. We were molded to accept it all from childhood on. We saw some good things and concluded it's all good, it's all true. Being conditioned doesn't mean one is weak minded. We didn't know anything else and the truth appeals to feelings of superiority, we thought we knew it all while all those poor worldly people had no clue. We thought we knew the all the secrets.
A challenge for me is figuring out who I really am. I have no clue right now, also don't know who I can be and want to become. What's also hard is getting rid of that "never going to die" idea and living a responsible life.
