  we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

  fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

  i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

  Wow Winston - you've done it. I hope that there are not too many repercussions close to home with people that you want to remain in your life. It's such a shame that the WTS has cultivated this culture where relationships can be made or broken so quickly just because someone is viewed as organisationally acceptable or not.

  I know I have dropped people like a stone in the past when they have been DFed which is something I bitterly regret so I hope people that have been long standing freinds do remain at least in casual contact.

  Great to hear your updates Winston and I am very pleased you are progressing without losing your family.

  One point however is on the DA/DF association with 1 John 2:19. You are right that the context shows it is talking about the "antichrist" however the WTS defines anyone who denies (to quote the Insight book) " any or all of the Scriptural teachings concerning him: his origin, his place in God’s arrangement, his fulfillment of the prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures as the promised Messiah, his ministry and teachings and prophecies, as well as any opposition to or efforts to replace him in his position as God’s appointed High Priest and King."

  The WTS will apply that to anyone who leaves the org regardless of if they continue to express a faith in Christ or not. Even if they continue to follow a Christian faith the WTS will claim that since it is not the "truth" then it falls into the same bracket.

  The only reason I mention it is that reasoning on that scripture with the elders in an effort for your mum to justify continued contact will get her nowhere other than a fast track to the naughty step, perhaps even a JC if she openly maintains contact.

  I guess this is not news to you but I hope your mum realises the potential impact of the stand she may be taking.

  I mentioned some of this to my wife after bringing up the subject of the statement about blindly following direction from the Nov 15 WT and she completely dismissed it as being unimportant. Apparently it's of no consequence that doctrine has changed so much over time. All of this was years ago - waaaay before we were even born. Whatever has changed over the past 10-20 years does not matter - it's the light getting brighter. Of course things are going to change.

  I love my wife to bits and sometimes I think she is on the cusp of really seeing things for what they are but this congnotive dissonance is depressing.

  I'd love lock her in a room and tell her not to come out until she's read every page on jwfacts.com.

  Basically they predicted a bunch of absolute j**z. Worse still. loads of it were other peoples' rehashed j**z. Cultish sloppy seconds.

  i find it interesting that the 7/15 watchtower will be studied from september 2-29th and then the annual meeting will be exactly one week after.

  it strikes me as an effort to emphasize the fds and their role before a big announcement.. siam .

  this very first sentence in the bible makes no sense to me, i struggle with it and i am wondering what other's thoughts are on the subject.

  don't get me wrong, i believe in god, i believe their is a creator, or atleast i hope their is.

  but i struggle with him creating the heavens and the earth, i mean, why would he?
