completely OT....leech infection!

okay.....now this thread is completely off any topic i have seen here before...but i am just in shock over an infection that my 9 year old son got w/in hours of swimming at an area lake.

my kids went swimming for about 4 hours yesterday and my middle boy, james, found a leech in his belly button on the ride home.

he didn't think anything of it and pulled it off.

Sorry your little guy had to start summer off like that. I'm from SoCal, so when we moved up to the Northwest, I was dying to go to the beach. I took my then three year old guy to a beach on lake washington. When we got home I noticed little bumps all over him. The doc said it was "swimmers itch", some kind of algae bloom in the water. I just wait till I can go in the ocean now...lakes are too unpredictable. Of course every time I go to my house in Maui, there's been a shark attack on the news.

Thanks for your post, and for providing support for gay/lesbian exjws. Many of my single best friends in the borg. were gay/lesbian...some where aware and trying to lead c elibate lives, others were just in agony trying to figure out what was "wrong" with them.

One thing being enslaved to the cult cost me was a relationship with my brother, who was gay. As circumstances turned out, I was able to be at his bedside when he died of AIDS in 95. Eventhough I shunned him all my life, he still loved me. He left trust funds for my kids to go to college in his will. I felt so guilty when I found out. Now that was unconditional love on his part...

i follow the threads on legal questions with interest because somewhere inside me is this voice yelling at me to get back at those bastards that lied to me and my family and all the other good people i have come to know here and abroad.

i too carry a lot of anger with me from my experience as a witness.

however, another poster raised the question "what is your ultimate goal?

Hi Seaken,

Your post moved me very much, I can identify with what you are going through. Feeling trapped between two worlds...very crazy making. On the other hand, I can relate to your wife's total indoctrination. It took my husband and I almost two years to leave, EVEN after our daughter's suicide and the horrible treatment afterwards. It is so hard to let go of years of brainwashing, and the fear of not having absolute knowledge of god's plans. It felt like stepping out of a plane without a parashute.

My goal is to keep my sanity while having to live in this area where all the tragedy happened and I constantly have to look over my shoulder for the local cult members. I'd love to move, but between my son's school and hubby's job I'm stuck here for a few more years. I've tried with no success to open the eyes of a few close jw friends that were very moved by what happened to me. But even with all the hypocrisy and cruelty they saw, they are still too brainwashed to see. One friend even surprized me and said she read Franz book when it first came out...I couldn't believe someone could read it and still be in. It helps me a lot to tell new "worldly" friends about my experiences with the religion. I still get in pioneer hours anti-witnessing.

I enjoyed your post MrMoe. After many years of indoctrination, I am slowly starting to get in touch with the power of intuition. I agree, we all have it so some degree. I am just amazed at some of the "coincidences" in my life, especially in the last few months.

Can I ask...how did you learn to do tarot readings and is it a hobby or can you make money doing it?

The Unfinnished Mystery & 2005 My View

i had an epiphany about the date 2005. one of the holy men of the governing body was sitting on the throne (loo, potty, crapper) after consuming too much prune juice.

his movement looked like the numbers 2005. he called all the other holy men together and they agreed.

the then encased this movement in plastic making a a holy relic.thus we get the expression holy crap!

Sometimes I Am Ashamed

does every issue of morality have to be compared with the thinking and teaching of jehovahs witnesses?

simply because you are no longer jehovahs witnesses does that mean that you flaunt all moral authority and engaged in any perverted pleasure that you have a mind to?

because your morality is no longer legislated by a pseudo religious organization does that give you license to engage in all acts of "immorality" and refer to it "as just having fun.

I posted a very serious, tragic thread yesterday on suicide. Know whats interesting to me...I had a topless picture in my profile box the whole time. Not one person mentioned it. I changed it this morning, before reading this thread. I purposely mentioned the congregation I attended, hoping the mucky mucks in Brooklyn would take notice and maybe investigate the local situation. I got to thinking they would probably take offense at my picture.

I regularly attend a nude beach in Hawaii, and I have gotten so comfortable with nudity, I tend to forget that in our culture it is difficult for many to separate nudity from sexuality. It is so great to enjoy the sun and water without bathingsuits. People of all ages, sizes, colors, it's a beautiful thing. But I understand that sometimes to get your point across you have to be "all things to all people". It's a difficult balance, that's for sure.

SUICIDE IN KH PARKING LOT

last saturday, a former ministerial servant and pioneer committed suicide in the woodinville washington kingdom hall parking lot.

he was disfellowshipped several years ago, and according to the old sister that related the story to me today, he was depressed because no one would talk to him.

i don't know how i kept calm when she explained to me that "we couldn't talk to him...he was disfellowshipped.".

Beautiful post Sentinel, unconditional love is what it is all about. I agree he made quite a statement by doing it in the kingdom hall lot, early on a Saturday morning so the service group would have something to think about as they knock on those doors.

I felt moved to post the location because this is the forth suicide I have heard of in this area in the last few years. Besides my daughter, there was a family that moved to our cong. from a neighboring cong. because their son killed himself. He was upset nothing was done about the book study conductor that molested his sister. And about three years ago, a young sister in a neighboring congregation took an overdose, told her mother what she did, but died in the emergency room.

Disgusting JW Funeral story

i heard of a funeral held for a sister last week in a kh.. her non-jw daughter-in-law write a poem for her, and wanted to read it at the service in the kingdom hall.

the d-i-l had studied many years ago but was never baptized.

however, because she was wearing slacks, she was refused to read it from the platform and had to read it from her seat in the audience.. how low can you go?

Reminds me of a story related by R. Franz in his book, where F. Franz gave a funneral talk for a family member in a kingdom hall. He started by saying, in a very loud voice "Isn't it grand to be alive?!!" His point being, slave as much as you can for Jah now, while you are alive. I thought this was just disgusting. Nothing personal about the deceased was mentioned.

Notes Taken at the Judical Committee Meeting

i used to spend quite a bit of time during my teenage years in what was affectionately called "the green room".

the elders couldn't wait to take out a pen and paper and take pages upon pages of notes while i spoke and my poor parents sat and squirmed.

i wasn't a bad kid, it was always about stupid things, like sister-so-and-so said i wore a short skirt to school, etc.

GRRRR!!! One of my biggest regrets is giving the local yocals a faxed copy of my daughter's suicide letters. She wrote three letters, one to us and one to the young man she was involved with. The third letter was VERY incriminating, it was to her "best friend", detaililng a lot of sneaking around, lying, drinking, etc. I asked for the letters back after a week, I saw the handwritting on the wall. The PO said he would return them. He came by, with the Kingdom ministries, and NO letters...oh he forgot. I never did get them back....

Here's My Graduate !

my baby graduated from high school.

my son is in here too, with her.

in about 4 years, if things go as planned, i'll be having a big graduation party for the both of them as they both graduate from college together.
