by LDH inhi, dfs.. first of all, let me say it is not necessary to label yourself on this board, or anywhere on the internet for that matter.. so many of us have family members that are df'd, it really doesn't hold much water round here.

Sabrina,Just drifting slightly, lets say that you are a believer in the Bible. Do you suppose that when Paul said his "quit mixing with bad guys" stuff he was also actually saying "cos if you dont I`m going to send you to Coventry myself"? Surely, Pauls words were well intended enough, but were they not just good general advice, and not meant to be the big deal that witnesses make of them?

Advantages of being a JW
by ISP inclearly there is a great deal of anti-jw sentiment here and elsewhere for that matter.
such feelings are generally directed at those at the heart of the organisation and there are no such feelings for the rank and file who are often very genuine people.. in actual fact there are some advantages in being a fully loaded jw and to be fair it would be interesting to note them down.
they can be factual or whimsical or both.

I see friends with their families and I often feel envious, but I accepted a long time ago that the rules are the rules and some JW's do not break them for anyone. I am happy that some JW parents respond to exjw's communication, but it isn't very often they will bend on their rules. My parents will not speak to me unless I go crawling back to JW's and beg them to let me back in. I will be dead before I will ever do that! You see, they are brainwashed and I can't break through a wall that my family constructed when CT Russel was still on the scene. My parents grew up celebrating Christmas and Birthdays and still didn't think twice about banning their children from knowing those joys as they had. When I was just 8 my mother told me they used to celebrate. I wanted to know why it was so wrong. I think the JW's are too old fashioned for today. They change their rules so often, they are comical already!

I love the way you call people "worldlings", like they are aliens or something. ROLF!! I always had good friends and none of them were JW's. A lot of JW's get thrown out of this religion for something as stupid as smoking 2 cigs a day. Get a divorce on grounds of anything other than adultry and watch the sparks fly! Ask too many questions and you'll be out faster than you can snap your fingers. Sure I agree, some do climb out, and good for them! But, it's my opinion that the exjw's with the worse mental turmoil going on are those that were kicked out with little reason, but really can't give up on the dream. They are mad at the Borg but still love the religion and it's God. Logic is in great short supply. I feel sorriest for the children. They have no choice but to be a JW and growing up believing that the world will end soon is the cruelest part of all. This way or the highway! I am DF, and for me it means FREEDOM! Thank you BORG! Just my opinion, but I think that being DF'ed is still a big deal and will continue to remain so. At least it is a "big deal" to all the families that are destroyed by all the lies! I believe that most of the jw's stay off the internet as they are told over and over and over. It will be in their sermons, mags, in their bible studies. The internet could cause serious damage to their numbers. They will fear the internet knowing that Apostates reign there. They are controlled by fear. It's quite effective! (Not to mention the 80% porn sites.)
