Wife's FS report for last month... Zero!
by Captain Obvious ini could just be reading too far into this but... even with plenty of opportunities and time to go, she didn't seem to make it out last month.
last night she said she was gonna go out today (the 1st) but... she's downstairs at the moment sipping coffee watching tv.
a few weeks ago on the long drive back from the assembly we talked about fs.

You could try suggesting that you go somewhere together next Saturday morning. Not sure what is available where you are, but keep it simple. Farmer's market, park. Don't say anything. Just go do something normal. Couple of hours wandering around enjoying the scenery, maybe some light lunch after that. Later tell her how much you enjoyed spending that time with her.

Ok kids, how many references to jw.org can you find in the new mag?
by FadeToBlack inwife just got back from meeting with new abbreviated mags.
first thing i noted was how many references to the official web site are in the awake.
could be competitive for the kids who count how many times the speaker says jhvh or jesus or gb.

20 Questions
by Terry inlet's say there is a new law.. once each year the leader(s) of any religious group have to answer 20 questions in public on tv posed by their critics.. twenty questions are allowed for a one hour presentation.. of course, we would expect softball answers.
except for one thing: the questioner can press a "bullshit" button!.
that would mean the question is repeated and another answer was called for.

QUESTION: Is it possible that a flood covered the entire earth in 2370 BC(E) and wiped out all life except for 8 people and as many animals as they could fit in their boat? (I'm just focusing on the year, nothing else about flood legend, which would also consume entire hour)...
QUESTION: Is it reasonable to believe that prior to 2370 BC(E) it had never rained before on the earth?
QUESTION: Is it likely that Hebrew is the original/earliest human language?
My suggestion for questioner: Leoleia

Watchtower's greatest failure: the absence of IGNORANCE
by Terry inknowing is good.. not knowing is bad.. knowing that you don't know leads to inquiry, research and education.
that is good.. assuming you know the validity of your research material is bad.. sometimes you are stumped but you don't know that you are stumped.
you proceed anyway.. .

Nice post Terry. I'd much rather belong to a religious organization that said: we are just a bunch of people trying to figure it out. Sometimes we are wrong. We welcome your input. Does such an organiztion exist?

Sulla: it was not free of conflict, just saying that I met some really good people there. I recall one occasion where the hard-core crew had a very engaging, (dare I say fun) brother removed as the School overseer because he was going off track. Several elders resigned when the decision was made to remove him as an elder. I was actually on very good terms with some of the hard-core crew. I just could't figure out why we all couldn't just get along.. Now I understand (kind of).... Frederick was much more of a mix (rural vs urban/suburban) than Montgomery.

At one time long ago, I was in Frederick county. To be honest, there were some pretty amazing (real) people there.

Awake! 2013 - They finally dropped 'That' statement!
by Splash init's been widely reported on jwn and other places about the change to the caption in the inside front page of awake!.
from 1982 - 1995 it stated:.
"most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new order before the generation that saw the events of 1914 c.e.

Thanks for that Splash. I'm going to ask my wife what she thinks it means... I love just using their own publications!
I will ask with sort of a: I'm confused, could you explain this to me? loo. And then ask: what's going on?

Are you sure you have not spoken to someone about Jehovah or the Bible for at least 15 minutes?
by Calebs Airplane inhow many here have had this conversation before (especially just before the week-long visit by the circuit overseer)?:.
brother irregular, i don't believe we've received your report for last month.
did you turn it in yet?.

What about if we talk about bible related topics here? Can we count the time? As mentioned in other threads, a lot of the readers here are more aware of what is in the next study article than the witnesses.

Armageddon is coming! New Dates Predicted (satire)
by 00DAD inkudos to jwn roving correspondent sd-7 for his insightful comments in a recent thread.
as a result of his inspired utterance, i received a flash of insight that has allowed me to predict with uncanny accuracy the exact date for armageddon's arrival.
what follows are sd-7's comments and my calculations.

I'm a big fan of symmetry, yet I fail to see the symmetry of 2,370?
Now if you'd said "2,332" then I'd understand; but you did not and so I do not.
Could you please explain? And while you're at it I'd love to see your "careful calculations" too!
My response: You don't get it. With the WTS we start from the conclusion and work our ways back disregrading all contrary evidence. Get it? First world ended in 2370. Like first Adam/last Adam. Symmetry. Evidently, the big A will be in 2370. You were close. I could go into more detail but it would involve a lot of handwaving and youtube videos. Trust me.
It is like accepting that babylon was overthrown in 537, but not accepting 607.
