When I took a break to check for new activity I was reading: MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual :: 13 SQL Statement Syntax :: 13.7 Database Administration Statements :: 13.7.1 Account Management Statements :: 13.7.1.3 GRANT Syntax
Later this evening i will continue with: Stalin's Curse by Robert Gellately. Pretty depressing and can only be read in small chunks.

On a Scale of 1 to 10---How Devoted Were You To Being One of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inas i grew up in the religion, i was a 10. i wanted to be made a "servant" because that was instilled in me from infancy.
i diligently studied ever piece of watchtower literature and defended my religion intensely.. when i got into my 30's, i started to see little cracks in the watchtower's surface but decided to "wait on jehovah".
then i started to research a little more critically and realized i couldn't defend the prophecies, the treatment of people and the hypocrisy that was becoming more obvious, that especially an elder can see.. it was a gradual thing---from a 10 to a zero!.

Started off as a 7. Over the years, slid down to 4. When I finally moved to another country and had time to think (nobody expected anything from me) it settled down at 0. Since I have been here (JWN), now into negative territory.

Demokan,
Many years ago my life was messed up and I really needed some certainty, some structure. I got involved with the JW's and turned my thinking mind off in exchange for that certainty and structure. As hard as it might be, I encourage you to make a plan to get out. Seek something better. You will find lots of support here on your journey. Keep posting...

Will you make SACRIFICES for the kingdom? WT
by bruh2012 inpar 10 - "significant funds are needed to support kingdom activities.
each year tens of millions of dollars are spent caring for the expenses of traveling overseers, special pioneers and missionaries".. so the gb wants you to support their "kingdom interest", but can care less about the local congregation pioneers who for some struggle to make ends meet, who use their gas driving all around the territory putting wear and tear on their cars sometimes not getting gas money to take care of their expenses, let alone any repairs needed.
talking about highway robbery!.

I'm with ohnightdivine on this one. The answer is -> No! Already did my share. Thankfully, I didn't drop out of college to enter the ful-time ranks. But still suffering from taking the advice to just view my work as a means to an end (pay bills while waiting for the new system) instead of developing a career.

How do JWs Not see how barbaric YHWH is? Its what started my awakening.
by BU2B inif one reads genesis from the first chapter through the end with an open mind, it is clear that not only is it not true, but that god is potrayed as a cruel, petty, childish micromanaging tyrant.
if one continues reading the ot this is just further solidified.
how do jws not see the obvious?

ADCMS: I think he had at least one. In the Genesis account before the flood, it said he felt regret about having made man. I'm sure a lot of other species, extinct or not would agree it was a bad decision.

3. What should be our reaction when
confronted with “strange teachings”?
(Heb. 13:9)oh, the irony... What could be stranger than the stuff the WTBATS doles out?
