i'm just 'stopping by briefly' lol to wish happy holidays to old friends who may still be posting/lurking here...so many of you come to my mind on a regular basis, things you've said long ago continue to return to me when i need them and keep me going in a strong, forward direction.
my family continues to be amazed by the fact that four and a half years after my df'ing, i still haven't caved in and gone back.
for me, there is no going back.
((((Essie/Prima))))
What a beautiful post, my dear friend. I feel I've been very fortunate to have you as a friend. We've both had our share of "online" disappointments and hurts hey? And yet...and yet, there are still people that restore our faith...you're one of the ones who do that for me
I'm so glad to see the responses to your post; others see the beauty and kindness and strength in you that I see. I wish you and your family the very best of this holiday season.
Love,
Dana
.
six and fosl (the fruit of six's loins) will be visiting nyc between dec 27 and jan 1 (fosl's b-day present).. please share your thoughts on where to go, what to see, what to do.. i'd love to meet up with any nyc apostates as well.
contact me via e-mail if you're interested.
Ahh Six,
I'm jealous! I would love to see NYC in the winter time; I absolutely cannot wait to go back to the city. I was there for the first time ever in September for the march and enjoyed it immensely. What a great b/d gift for your daughter! I hope you both have a wonderful time and definitely, Ground Zero is a must-see. I also enjoyed the Metropolitan Museum and my carriage ride through Central Park.

a couple of years back, 2 friends of ours decided that they would like to have their marriage vows renewed in our local church.
the main reason behind this was that they had married abroad some years back, and they thought that a sort of "second wedding" would be a nice thing for the mums and dads who had missed out on the original.
it was fine, very enjoyable.. hmm, i got to thinking, her ladyship and i did not marry in church, but settled for a registry office bash because of parental jw pressure, and also, because i had been married before it was, back then, very difficult to obtain a church wedding if one had been divorced.
Let me think about this... Tracy is the most beautiful, classiest, sweetest, kindest, most gentle, sharp as a whip, always optimistic, best friend I could ever hope to find. Our friendship is based on mutual respect and interdependence. It will survive time
Nice try Doug, but she already bought your xmas present (at the DOLLAR store, no less!), so your effort is wasted, sad to say

LOLOL Good answer Simon
BTW...it shows you've been married long enough to gain wisdom, grasshopper...heheheheh.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Dana
Simon,
And your point is?
Dana
do you feel as if children in the watchtower organization get baptized too early in age?
when you think that in most places, you have to be at least 18 years old to vote, go in a bar, or have a drivers licence.
being told that it was the most important day of our life, wouldn't it be reasonable to wait to be at least 18 years old before getting baptized.
Good post JH!
This is a point that has long struck me as hypocritical of the JWs...ALL other decisions they claim minors are too young to make for themselves, but when it comes to this decision, one that will affect their entire lives and their families, et cetera, why, of course they're capable of making it! Give me a fricken' break. I was baptized at age 13 and I had no clue what I was letting myself in for...I did it because that's what you did. It was expected, plain and simple. Besides, what if Armageddon came (coz you know it was "just around the corner") and I wasn't baptized??!
I agree with others who have said that it's a way to keep the numbers up...talk about a selfish, self-serving organization. Yet another example of how the fail to truly care for the children.

i am pleased to report that there is!
i just got off the phone with a jw family member who is sending me a christmas present!.
they (i am keeping their gender a secret to protect their identity) didn't go so far as to wish me a merry christmas but they did tell me that they are mailing it tomorrow and that they hope that i get it in time for christmas.
(((Robyn))) I'm doin' the happy dance with ya! That's great news; it's so exciting when a family member joins in, especially when you least expect it. I was so thrilled when my sister left and started celebrating xmas with me...I felt like I had a family again. I'm really really happy for you

today's news
santa's helpers cheer youngsters .
Very interesting story, Blondie, thanks for posting it. I, too, am glad that the family accepted the gifts, even though it is a mark of hypocrisy when related to the whole mind set of the JWs. At least this one family got some help!
I recall years ago there was a family in our congregation whose home burned down. They were given a LOT of help by the Salvation Army...out in service one day, the group I was in was gossiping discussing it, and the overall conclusion was that obviously that family didn't know they weren't supposed to accept help from the SA! Note that no one in the group had any ideas for another way for the family to replace the clothes, furniture, food and toys that they had lost...no one commented on how great it was that the SA gave them these things for free...no one offered to step in and help them out...I guess it was more fun talking about what they shouldn't have done rather than what could be done to help them. BTW...the SA not only donated the above items, but also helped the family find another home to rent and helped them get into it. Drat those evil worldly organizations anyway!
