Woohoo! My son graduated from Infantry Training!

my son dominic graduated friday from advanced infantry training at fort benning, ga. needless to say, i'm a very proud mom.

he has been selected to join the honor guard (or old guard) and will be stationed at fort myer, va...but we get to have him home for a few weeks.

here are a few pics of his graduation.

Thanks for posting those pics (and yes, of COURSE I want some emailed to me!)...Dominic looks so handsome *sob*...I need to have an "aunt moment" here But I gotta ask ya, in that pic of Dom and Nick, is Dom standing in a hole or something??!!! I had no idea that Nick is that much taller (some aunt I am hey?? LOL). It's just for some reason, Nick looks like he's towering over Dom...ah well. I am very proud of Dominic, too, and while I admit that some of the credit should probably be placed at your doorstep, I firmly believe that the majority of Dominic's successes are due to the wonderful influence of his Aunt Dana

It's about time you finally started posting! But I gotta tell you something...you guys need to stop with that "speccialllll" or "do you know someone spesh-ullll" stuff, coz it's greatly affecting me....I CAN'T GET YOUR MOM'S VOICE OUT OF MY HEAD!!!! Ok, ok, so maybe that's not such a bad thing, most of the time anyway, heheheheh.

International Freedom Fest going strong

we are having so much fun talking with everyone.

there are about 30 here tonight, and we just had dinner, ...............chicken on the bbq, coleslaw, and lots of good appetizers.. angharad, and "her ladyship" (also known as englishman's wife), and inky are in the hot tub, and there are little groups of conversation going on all over the house and outside on the deck.. cruzanheart, bigtex and sixofnine got here a few minutes ago.

there are 8 from england so far, including a very nice couple who were on my flight from atlanta.. several of us went out on joy and steve's big sailboat for several hours and it was so fun, and relaxing.. tomorrow we get ready for the big halloween party.

As always, it was a great time, and thanks again to ((((((Joy and Steve)))))) for hosting the fest, although it was a total bummer that Joy didn't have time to sit down for more than 5 minutes at a time (which now makes me wonder how come Steve was able to???!!)

Highlights for me...FINALLY getting to meet Eman and Her Ladyship, kayaking, helping Harry put ice down Simon's shirt (trust me, he totally deserved it!), getting to spend time with Outnfree again , hanging loose with Waiting and Patio (LOL..my lips are sealed ladies, honest!), having a long talk with Mulan on Saturday morning, kayaking, meeting Myself, Freefallin, Irene, and the Belmonts, shooting the breeze with Spice and Matty (congrats!), rubbing Six's head, (did I mention kayaking??), watching my children relax and enjoy themselves, getting to see Jade again , sleeping through my sister's snoring (heheheh, oooohhh I'm gonna pay for that one!), talking with Joe and Barb Anderson (although I'm hesitant to say much right now b/c of the death threats I received!), getting sunburned while kayaking, long walks on the beach (both sunlit and moonlit), seeing Megadude and his dad again, and just generally (kayaking too!) hanging out and having a good time. I know I've left some names out, and I mostly apologize for that, but there were so many people there and I'm having a hard time remembering them all! I'll go to bed tonight and just when I'm on the edge of sleep, I'll suddenly remember who I've left off...yeah, you all know it happens.

The only downer of the weekend is that my VeniceIT and Sevenofnine weren't there *sob* but I understand why...maybe next time.

Dealing my own sexual abuse

i've mentioned it a few times, but between the ages of 5-7 i had my two female cousins living with me.

my parents were doing them a favor by letting them live there, but what they didn't know was the prior sexual abuse and molestation by members of their/our family...well, it is in my opinion the trickle down theory of abuse and i also know and remember doing some of the same things with my own siblings even a couple years after they weren't there any more.. i often ask myself.

am i responsible for that?

Your words touched me, as well. I've been blown away myself at the kindness, warmth, love and discretion that Steve and Joy show...they're two of my favorite people, bar none. In fact, today at work I was trying to explain the weekend and my feelings for Joy and Steve to one of my colleagues...it wasn't easy! LOL

I was very glad to meet you and your family, and Delaney feels as though she has found a kindred spirit in your Jenny; she really misses her. Let's hope that not too much time elapses before they are able to see each other again. In the meantime, please email me at [email protected] so that I can give you Delaney's addy and they can at least write to each other.
