here is a response i sent to a recently df'd jw over the un issue.
this person has not been deterred though, they are still clinging to the borganization as god's.

in the netherlands and many other european countries president bush of the united states of america is considered as a man with low intellectual capabilities and a narrow minded unilateral view on the rest of the world who uses one-liners in stead of founded argumentation.
but in the us he is seen by most americans as a wise and great statesman, a marvellous leader in difficult times.. i am interested how jws in congregations from different countries look at president bush although they usually dont openly have an opinion about politicians.

Geez LB! Did I read it wrong or are you really questioning the bravery and manhood of the Brits??!! I don't think that's a very fair generalization, any more so than any of the other generalizations I've read in this thread.
I, for one, don't think all that highly of Bush and I really don't understand why so many Americans (here I go making one of those nasty generalizations!) insist that we, as a nation, have acted altruistically towards other countries. It just ain't so! As much as I hate to admit, Expat is right when he says that America, just like EVERY OTHER NATION acts in its own self-interest. I mean, let's not be naive here...each has its own agenda and that agenda is "what is going to serve ME best?"
Eman and Expat, I am sorry about the friends you've had who have been affected by the violence and bloodshed occurring in your country due to terrorism. Having to deal with terrorism on such a scale in our own country is something relatively new to us, more immediate and in our faces, so to speak. I don't feel that what your countrymen have suffered for so long is in any way lesser or not as important as what happened here on Sept 11. Just so you know.

Year round, certainly! Then I wouldn't need anything but a bicycle with a basket and a small boat. Plus, I wouldn't hafta wear anything but tanktops and bathing suits...unless I wanted to dress up, in which case I could break out a tshirt and a pair of shorts!
Actually, there are a few year-rounders who live there. I've actually been down a street (there may be two of these streets, but I doubt it!) with some pretty humble dwellings. I'm thinking that if I save every penny for the next 10 years and cash in all my retirement stocks, etc...I MIGHT be able to purchase a run-down, one room place. Course, then I wouldn't be able to eat regularly, but eating is highly overrated, imo.

One place I'd love to live is on Captiva Island, off the West coast of Florida. It's a beautiful island that hasn't been 'too' developed yet. However, if I could live ANYWHERE, why then I'd just have to travel around the world till I could make up my mind. There are so many places I want to see, so many experiences I want to have....
Canada is quite nice, don't think I could handle the cold weather for too long tho!

the national poetry contest had come down to two, a yale graduate and a redneck from texas.
they were given a word, then allowed two minutes to study the word and come up with a poem that contained the word.
the word they were given was "timbuktu.

this is awful, a woman hits a homeless man, and hes lodged in her windshield bleeding ot death with 2 broken legs, and she drives all the way home, leaves him in her garage and calls friends to find out what to do, and they tell her to dump him somewhere... so he bleeds to death in her garage and she dumps his body in a park.
and while he was in the garage one of the first things she did was have sex with her boyfriend.. blegh..i'm appaled that this could happen anywhere in the world.
Geezzzzzzussss! This was the story on the radio that I woke up to this morning...it defies imagination!!!!
