Financial Help.

hit my posting limit and am using my second account..... i don't know if anyone can help or not.. but i am in a desprate situation whereas i have to swallow my pride and seek out some help.. i am behind rent as well as my morgage ( i own a moble home on a lot rent).. need food as well.. phone needs to stay in service since i am deaf and need it as part my text communication for hopes of landing a better job.

sister can email me to let me know if a employer calls, so i can drive over and find out what's up from there.. i work at wal-mart and alot of us have our hours cut to 20+ hrs a week, so this is hurting me fianacially.. job hunts is hard since i am deaf since most employers seems to prefer hiring a hearing person.. i know of a deaf friend who is unemployed and he went thru 20 job interviews in a month.

none of them ever called or emailed him to say he got a job.. family can't help since they all have their own problems to deal with.. i can post all the info you need if anyone needs it, such as my landlord's address and my morgage address if anyone wants to mail a check directly to them.

First off, most of the time I find you to be a reasonable, nice, and balanced person. I have no desire to have this become adversarial in nature, just to clarify.

Now then, earlier when I said "put up or shut up", I was not referring to you specifically, I was referring to those who have made claims about Gary. Now that you ARE making claims about Gary, I do feel the same applies to you. I also stated in that post that if anyone had proof to back up said claims, they could email them to me.

You ask me to tell you what I know of Gary...I've already done that. I feel that somehow there is a miscommunication occurring here, so I will try to state this as succinctly as possible. If you cannot respond because of your posting limit, feel free to email me, my email is open but just in case, it's [email protected].

*I* have made no claims about Gary. *YOU* and others here have, therefore, I believe the burden of proof is on you, not on me. If you can prove what you believe to be true about him, then what is the problem in disclosing that information privately? You and others here have publicly stated accusations regarding him; all I am saying is that I feel you should be willing to back those up, with facts, NOT second hand information. I am not trying to change your, or anyone else's opinion, of Gary but I believe in giving someone the benefit of the doubt in the face of lack of evidence to the contrary. If he is the villain some think that he is, then surely there should be some supporting evidence. If there is no evidence, then why is it necessary that everyone share your opinion of him? I am not challenging your opinion, btw...I am merely stating that I choose not to share it without some factual information to base it on. Here's how I see it:

Others: Gary is a bad person.

Dana: Really? What has he done?

Others: This and this and this.

Dana: That's terrible! How do you know this to be true?

Others: I just do; I have more facts than you do.

Dana: Ok, what are they?

Others: So and so told me this; another person showed me this email, etc.

Dana: Ok, but where are the facts?

Others: (so far no facts)

No, I'm not poking fun at anyone and I'm not trying to put anyone down. But from my perspective, I am being asked to accept other people's negative opinions without any evidence. I don't ask you to do that Larc; please show me the same courtesy.

My ONLY point is that if you have facts, then offer them. I did not say that facts do not exist to prove others' contentions about Gary, only that so far, no one has offered them, and that includes Farkel, to the best of my knowledge.

Larc, I am safe4kids, not Think41self. Think41self is Tracy, my sister...Freepeace is Doug, my brother in law, who is married to Tracy. THEY know Gary. I've MET Gary on several occasions. Did I state that I like Gary because he's charming, or are you making assumptions? And honestly, whether or not Gary is down is his business to disclose, his reasons for it, et cetera, if he chooses. I was merely trying to make a point Larc.

As to what you've read about Gary, Larc, certainly it is your right to form your impressions and make a judgment; we all do it. In fact, I spent most of my life believing opinions and written detail that formed a gestalt that made sense to me. I choose now to try to base judgments on facts.

Dad is gone

my dad passed away at the hospital today after a lengthy illness.

he was 84 years old.

some of the folks here have known for awhile that he had been ill, and they have been very supportive.

Newsflash folks...*Deacon* has left the building...I find it interesting, in a tedious sort of way, that people still have the need to vilify someone they don't even know. And Larc, I'm curious why you want Tracy to tell you about Gary...shall the burden of proof be on him or on his detractors??

I don't know Gary very well...about all I know of him is that he makes a mean English breakfast! However, several months ago, I received a flurry of emails from concerned people warning me about Gary...some of them were people I actually respect, and so I asked for proof of their allegations. Funny thing, I NEVER received any proof whatsoever. All I got were vague hints, 'trust me on this one', copies of emails and 'he said/she said's. No proof, although some of the claims against him were very specific in nature and should be relatively easy, imo, to prove if true. Sorry, but I don't feel like Gary has any responsibility whatsoever to try and clear his name; he obviously doesn't care what this community thinks of him, as he chose to leave months ago. And basically, if any of you have proof that he's the horrible person you believe him to be, then feel free to email it to me or Doug and Tracy...in other words, put up or shut up.

One other thing...isn't it possible that Gary made some mistakes? Isn't it possible that NOW some of you are continuing to kick someone when they're down? Shall we all disfellowship Gary because we've heard some nasty things about him? I've heard some pretty damning things about several posters here but you'll notice I don't bring them up at every opportunity, nor do I expect others to take my word for it, nor do I dog them asking for proof of their innocence. I don't know about the rest of you, but I intend to keep my own counsel and I really do wonder why it is so important to some of the people here that Gary, even now months after he's left, is still being dragged thru the mud. Frankly, I'm tired of it all.

Suicidal fear of rejection.

the fear of rejection has once again controlled my life and my actions in an unintentional act of self destruction brought on by how i was raised to view life.

i have come to the conclusion that i will probably be battling this psychological whirlpool of self sabotage for the rest of my life and i do not think i have the ability to completely eliminate it.

talking about it here is a start.

Tracy has such a healthy self esteem because she has always had me to compare herself to. That'd pretty much give anyone a boost, doncha think?

Dude, I always enjoy reading what you write, usually for the entertainment value. Tonight, that changed. You got to me, and not on the humor level. Lately, I've had so many walls up that my walls have sprouted walls and I haven't really allowed anything to pierce them...but you did. If you ever do it again, I swear I will hunt you down like the rabid dog you are. (BTW, who you callin' EVIL???) I pretty much feel like I flipped the emotion switch to "off", I've danced the dance of pointing the finger at others and analyzing what they do in a desperate attempt to hide from myself what I'm doing/thinking/feeling. I do not appreciate these flashes of insight.

Fear of rejection? Did you really have to explain it all so concisely, so clearly? Is there no cure? Coz I think that we may very well be in the same boat, or at least in the same pond. I hope the best for you Dave, all kidding aside. I think, from what little I know of you, that you are a sensitive and empathetic person. I KNOW that you are talented and creative, and I believe very much that you have a lot to offer. I know what it's like to lose your best friend; I know what it's like to realize that you are your own worst enemy; and I know what it's like to slam head first into the brick wall of knowing that you keep making the same mistakes over and over. But, and this is a big but, one I need to hang onto, thank you very much so please don't say anything to prove me wrong, I also believe (hope?) that we are capable of overcoming ANY adversity, any problem, any dysfunction once we are aware of it and motivated to change it. I hear some motivation in your post, Dave. I agree with the others...a good friend and a deep love is worth almost any effort to save. Just do it.

Thanksgiving Football???

im a big cowboy fan, and i love to watch them play on thanksgiving.

but if i was not a cowboy fan, i must admit i would rather watch a more completive game, a game that would have play off implications.. how do you feel about it?

Forbidden Pleasures ......

this morning on the way to work, i burst into song.

not just any song ... but the heretofore forbidden "star spangled banner".

i just felt like singing and i wanted to sing something challenging and it seemed like the perfect choice.

I actually voted in the gubernatorial election in September...first time I've ever voted and it felt grrrrrrrrrreat! (just call me Tony ) Only downside is...a few weeks later I got called for jury duty. Bummer. Never done that before either, so...I get to experience something else that's new.

Discussion With My Dad...Ended Badly.

some of you may know that my parents were expected for "dinner" on thanksgiving day.

well i really don't think its going to happen now.

i called my dad last night becuase my mother, now visiting my kids in south texas and bringing them here to see me, said they had "stuff to do on thursday".

I agree with Xenawarrior...I doubt anyone would have handled it much differently. Don't beat yourself up about it and, besides, you just never know when something you say might actually stick in their heads. For instance, maybe not now or in the next year, but if your dad becomes an elder, and the child abuse thing isn't changed...then he'll see first hand what you were talking about.
