To be honest in the beginning it was neither batman89. I fell for the whole, there must be a purpose for this amazing universe and for complex life on earth. Mainly because I knew nothing about evolution or cosmology. To me that argument was logical, but I didn't have all the facts. I did learn to love 'Jehovah' and want to live in the new system. If that was the great plan I wanted to be part of it.

Final post I can't come to this forum anymore!
by hoser ini have come to the conclusion that posting here and visiting this site is not healthy for me anymore.
i just get angry and upset when i read all the stories of injustice and corruption that go on in the jehovahs witness religion.
they are true no doubt, as i have personally experienced many injustices and abuses in my life from being a witness.

Good for you Hoser. Get out there and see the world, meet some interesting people, eat fantastic food, look at snow capped mountains. Think about something other than this daft cult. Have a great life.

What is spirit, exactly?
by Viviane ini've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

Don't know the answer to your question Viv, you've certainly sparked people's interest. Haven't read the whole thread, I've been out of the country. I've heard some people say spirits are beings of light made of photons, anyone here said that? Not my idea and I probably wont stay around and debate something which cannot be proved. Attack me if you must, I'm going back to the sunshine in my garden because the JW stuff doesn't hold a great deal of interest on here anymore for me personally.

How Many Had Chronic fatigue syndrome?
by OnTheWayOut inchronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.

Apparently my sister has ME, also known as CFS, OnTheWayOut. Or so my non-JW cousin tells me. I agree with you that her cognitive dissonance is making her ill. Oh how I just wish she would leave. My other sister has type 2 diabetes and is very overweight. My brother is also getting very large. Funny that I have to find these things out from my cousin. I'm fine, by the way , much healthier than when I was in my twenties and pioneering.

Ah the blade that was broken....
"The sword of Elendil was forged anew by Elvish smiths, and on its blade was traced a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the rayed Sun, and about them was written many runes; for Aragorn, son of Arathorn was going to war upon the marches of Mordor. Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril, Flame of the West."— The Fellowship of the Ring, The Ring Goes South

Do you think it's rude or disrespectful to be in the bathroom for any reason while the brother is praying?
by toto555 ini had a publisher tell me this recently that she felt that it showed disrespectful to the brother up there giving the prayer, like you're ignoring him or something.
what do you think?
and if so, any bible scripture or watchtower or awake backing this idea up specifically?.

Perish the thought that we might ignore someone when they think they are being important. Apes - so funny.

Did Any Atheist/Agnostic Revert Back to Their Former Beliefs?
by Space Madness inare their any former atheist/agnostic on here who reverted to christianity or a belief in god.
i became an atheist back in july and it was the most unfulfilling depressive period of my life.
i'm now starting to rebuild my relationship with god and i'm already starting to feel a lot better.

"They've made us debt FREE !!!"
by gingerbread inso proclaimed the brother that read the wt letter tonight that explained the new kingdom hall funding arrangement.. everyone in the hall claps .... well, like it was the last talk on the district convention.. he says 'what bank would wipe out a debt of $200,000 ???

I would suggest that they have become "thinking free." - Oubliette
The human brain can think with lightning speed.
Sadly every new atrocity from the GB sets off a pattern of thought that goes something like this: -
This new arrangement, interpretation of prophecy, new light, means .....
That sounds a bit odd....but....
It's from God's organization and if that's wrong then that would mean this isn't the true religion...
I will have to apologize to my family who told me it's not the Truth and then I shunned them...
That big house on the hill will never be mine after Armageddon...
I am going to get old and die...
What a wonderful new teaching from our loving organization! We are truly blessed!

What about your vow to Jehovah?
by a watcher indid you get baptized without being dedicated?.
why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?
-
Xanthippe
cBg, you are expecting Jehovah's imperfect earthly organization to be perfect?
You are being unreasonable. a watcher
This argument is getting so old. This imperfect organization demands perfect obedience and perfect loyalty. For the prophecies that are never fulfilled and the teachings they get wrong and change it offers this limp excuse every time, we are not perfect men, we make mistakes. What if a brother or sister does not understand a teaching and cannot believe it? Are they being imperfect humans? No, they are thrown out before you can blink! A watcher wake up!
