Who is your favorite "Apostate"? Who helped you see the truth about "The Truth"?
by minimus ini would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .
and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

I have this memory that Randy Watters did a paper newsletter called Freeminds in the early nineties before the internet. Can't remember how we got hold of it. After reading CoC and leaving, that newsletter really helped us to feel less alone. Thank you Randy. -

Well although I work with computers I never thought of myself as particularly a wizz with them but I have to say I haven't found the new site to be a problem. Perhaps I'm getting cleverer in my middle age

I don't think that's technically correct. From what I've read and seen, many physicists believe the math points firmly in that direction, but there has been no observational evidence confirming these ideas. Until string theory is able to make predictions that are confirmed by observation, these ideas remain firmly in the hypothesis stage.
Really NEJ, that's interesting. So why did he put it in a pop physics book I wonder? I'm just reading The Grand Design at the moment. A bit misleading isn't it?

Prince Charles, Cameron and Obama on their way to Saudi
by Xanthippe inwhat do you think of royalty and premiers going to pay their respects at the death of saudi's king abdullah in light of the human rights abuses; public executions and people getting a hundred lashes for criticising islam?

Julia your art is beautiful. Fur and feathers are so difficult to paint. You are very talented. Maybe you should just stick with your art at the moment as it is working for you. -

I am sorry but I could not disagree more. As a former behavioral health clinician, I know this to be totally untrue. This 'forgiveness' thing is a religious teaching, not something required for mental health.
Acceptance is needed. Moving on is needed. Those are the only aspects that affect mental health.
Forgiveness is separate from that--forgiveness means you're saying what happened is ok. Not only is that untrue in the case of jw/wts, it's unhealthy to pretend it's true -rebel8Thanks for this rebel. It's something I have thought for a long time and I've said so on this forum. I did wonder what mental health professionals thought about it because it was just my opinion from experience. Thanks.

If it helps when my husband and I DA'd we didn't think of it as following their rules we thought of it as resigning, I think that's what we said in our letter. We simply left an organisation we worked for / belonged to and no longer wanted to work for or belong to. -

Stephen Hawking says,,
'According to M-theory, ours is not the only universe. Instead, M-theory predicts that a great many universes were created out of nothing. Their creation does not require the intervention of some supernatural being or god. Rather, these multiple universes arise naturally from physical law. They are a prediction of science.'
The Grand Design, p.18
The first time I read something like this it was in a Robert Heinlein science fiction novel about 30 years ago. I knew scientists have been knocking this idea around for many years but I had no idea it is now totally accepted by physicists.

Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?
by thedepressedsoul ini was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!
i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.
they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

It's a form of terrorism with the threat of violence (Armageddon) being the power base of this religion. If you don't think this is true read the posts of people on this forum who know the TTATT and who still have fears about the big A.
When fear is used as the motivation for so-called morality it is going to be depressing.
