That's exactly word for word what my mum said to me and she missed out on seeing her granddaughter grow up. My daughter didn't mind because she had my husband's parents making a fuss of her and they enjoyed having her all to themselves. Are your partner's parents around? I know this doesn't make up for you losing your own mum does it? Sorry this is so hard for you, it's not fair and it's not Christian, damned cult!

What is happening to the pictures?
by Xanthippe inhi simon, i notice some of mine and kaik's photographs of our gardens from bonsai's 'start a butterfly garden' thread are missing and being replaced with little squares with question marks in.
they're not pictures taken from the web but our own photos so i'm not sure what's happened there.
they've been there a while and used to be fine.. also i like to look back on flipper's 'post a picture thread' to see if i've missed anyone and it's starting to happen there too and some of the pictures have been turned upside down, p94, p95, p103.

Hi Simon, I notice some of mine and Kaik's photographs of our gardens from Bonsai's 'start a butterfly garden' thread are missing and being replaced with little squares with question marks in. They're not pictures taken from the web but our own photos so I'm not sure what's happened there. They've been there a while and used to be fine.
Also I like to look back on Flipper's 'post a picture thread' to see if I've missed anyone and it's starting to happen there too and some of the pictures have been turned upside down, p94, p95, p103. These are both threads that are still in use and keep being added to. Do you you know what's happening please?

He's funny but he's got a point. Are we becoming obsessed with needing constant online validation for our every thought and action? I even dream in Facebook, with writing and pictures! I used to dream about real people!

Turn out the lights the party is over
by Crazyguy ini think the reason the borg really went on a cost cutting move and is selling off all thier buildings has become obvious.
the cult is telling people that there fast growing but then the numbers seem to indicate about a 1% growth rate.
this would give them roughly 800,000 new baptized ones in ten years give or take do to the small increase per year from previous gains.

those in developing lands eat it up....
I'm not so sure anymore. Anglican and Catholic missionaries used to make rice Christians, build schools and hospitals, but JWs are offering nothing but empty promises. Poor people in developing countries aren't that stupid now, they need to feed and educate their kids. Plus secular organisations are offering them more in practical aid now.

Just a little anecdote illustrating how out of touch the typical JW is
by sir82 inthis weeks book study lesson was on martha, the sister of lazarus.
the chapter in the "imitate their faith" book praised her for being "industrious".. the conductor at our congregation meeting was just positively gushing about how "industrious" modern-day jw women are.. he was so exciting, he could barely get the words out.
following is not an exact quote, but conveys the gist:.

I was a young pioneer in my twenties when I was invited to the AGM when it came to the UK. The UK congs. were shitting themselves over the GB and Brooklyn bethel people attending. Of course I didn't hear any of it because I was serving drinks and food all day.
After we had served lunch and were desperate for a sit down we were taken to a room and asked to cut up all these cakes other women had baked and put them on trays. Then they decided to put the plates of cake in one half of each tray and put cups on the other half so we changed them all round. I thought great now are we going to get to sit down and have a drink and eat some of this cake. No, the men in charge of us decided they liked it how it was to start with and told us to change it all back again.
Why do I remember this all these years later? Because I was absolutely bloody furious! How can these idiots who don't know their ass from their elbow keep treating women like this I thought. What shocked me was the other women just did as they were told and nobody complained. They were so submissive but I wanted to punch those men!

My son just got a serious job offer
by Captain Schmideo2 inand it looks like he will be accepting it.he will be teaching english as a second language in shenzhen, china.
it's with a company that works with the public school system out there.his salary includes an apt (most likely shared) that has utilities and internet included, and looking at cost of living (after the rent he isn't paying) it looks like he will be able to put money aside every month.not bad for a kid his age-travel to the other side of the globe, meet new people, get paid, and get experience.
i am going to miss him..

That's great news! You will miss him but it's a wonderful opportunity for him and it won't be forever. You can go out and visit, a new country to explore! It's always bittersweet watching our kids move on isn't it. We want them to do more than we've done with our lives but we miss their company.

As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Sail Away inafter listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

JW's opinions on bunker video
by neat blue dog inthe so called bunker video isn't just getting attention here but among jws as well.
i've heard a fair share of cracks, some half joking half serious about the prospect of the video playing out in real life .
but something else i've heard is that the video was meant to be figurative, an illustration representing the 'interior rooms' prophecy..
-
Xanthippe
It could be the GB have given it a few weeks for the implications of the bunker video to sink in with all the fear and desire to cling to the organisation that it engenders. Then they started to circulate the rumour that it's figurative to cover their backs about another failed prophecy while at the same time leaving that thought planted in the R+F that it might be literal.

your number two is good, but I pioneered and went on holidays so you were too lazy the CO was right lol, only joking.
Well how very rude 😄 Perhaps a little explanation is required. I am the idiot that pioneered for ten years when it was 100 and then 90 hours a month. ☺️ When I wanted to stop because I was so exhausted and getting ill the CO said we're all tired. Then we wanted to go on holiday and the CO said you can do that in the new system. So I go abroad once or twice a year now.
