The christian school for married couples
by wannaexit inthe new in thing among the rank and file is to strive to get to the christian school for married couple.
this appears to substitute the school of gilead.
it's a 2 month long event and after graduation , couples are sent somewhere where the need is great in their own country.

Is John Barr's funeral talk at odds with New Light?
by Splash injohn barr served in the gb and died in dec 2010 at the age of 97.. in his funeral talk and the accompanying eulogy tract that was printed, is the final sentence:.
"without a doubt, he slept for but a moment in death and has now received his heavenly reward and his father's approval - all he ever wanted!".
given that the new light about being approved and appointed over all things is now a future event linked to the gt trib, was it correct to teach these things about brother barr at his funeral service?.

So did this guy serve on the GB until 2010? I find that very strange because he was becoming senile when I met him and he must have only been in his sixties then.

The worst thing to have pride in
by Rattigan350 ini really hate it when kids on interviews on meetings or assemblies and they state with pride that they turned down the piece of cake or brownie or other birthday treat at school.
is that something to really be proud of?
it is not as if the teacher is tempting them.

When I was pioneering a teacher said in field service that it was the JW children she felt sorry for, they were so isolated they couldn't join in anything. At the time I didn't know what she was talking about but I do now. I am so glad my daughter could go to Xmas, birthday and halloween parties. My late husband used to say you don't have to win the human race you just have to take part.

Poor guy had already lost it in the late seventies when I met him. They had him cutting newspaper articles out all day long at Bethel, related to what I can't remember.

DATADOG, ironic that they should liken themselves to Paul and have to forget the things behind and stretch forward to the things ahead. Paul had to 'forget' killing Christians and the GB, well look at all the blood- refusal deaths they caused before fractions became 'new light'. Not to mention all the people who gave up their youth, health, homes and money, in effect their lives because of the urgency of the times before the generation conveniently changed its meaning. No wonder they want to forget the things behind and move on from their appalling old light.

I just get the feeling from how you guys still going to the KH describe it that these poor people who parrot the answers are just paralyzed with fear of saying the wrong thing because the inquisition will be on them like a shot if they do. That means losing family and life-long friends as we all know. What a way to live, too frightened to speak up and emotionally blackmailed into staying. I feel for you guys who are fading I really do.

ever think about that, if so, then add on.... 1. know in life that people will always tell you their side of the story, and when they do they will always be the hero and everyone else the villian.

Learn to trust yourself. If something feels very wrong it probably is wrong. We can all have original thoughts, don't necessarily believe 'experts'. Read constantly, study everything you can but most importantly think, analyse and ask yourself how do they know that? Know that your brain is as good as any expert in any field, you just don't know as much as they do. But if you read just about anything slowly and carefully you can understand most of it.

Musings about different types of atheist!
by Seraphim23 ina thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.
or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.
after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

So we can bash each other with the apparent rational arguments theists have (ID, abiogensis, etc.) and the apparent arguments non-theists have (too numerous to count) all day long.
I have observed that the ones who do bash one another all day long do get a reaction and calm rational remarks often don't. Perhaps people are just bored and lonely and want someone to talk to for hours and hours and hours......
