  This is the traditional Christian view of this scripture which the JWs adopted. Not difficult to understand at all. Women should be at home looking after their husband, having babies and keeping their mouths shut. Paul's infamous misogyny.

  Oh yeah that's how the GB want women, barefoot and pregnant and keeping their mouths shut 'I do not permit a woman to teach'!

  Somehow we are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world because Eve was deceived. So Adam was not deceived and wilfully disobeyed but still men can be the head of the house?  It must be because I am so emotional and illogical that I can't understand this.

  Excellent answer. There are so many disgusting diseases on this planet from river blindness to leprosy, how can anyone be in charge? I do love the way Stephen engages with the question and says he wouldn't want to know a god who professes to be loving and yet creates such misery. Adam and Eve and fans being switched off and slowly winding down a la JW teaching just don't cut it.

  i was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.

  of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.

  i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

  oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.

  More beating them over the head with the idea they must stay in an organisation to be safe. The inner rooms connected to the KHs will protect them when the big A comes. Such a primitive ides. People have been rushing into churches and temples as the buildings fall on them or the lava pours down for thousands of years. A deeply entrenched fear in the human psyche exploited by this cult.

  All to keep reeling in the individuals who are exhausted with the constant doctrinal changes and want to find their God away from an organisation that keeps verbally beating them to do more. Only a building can save them?? Whatever happened to a relationship with God!

  Well yes, see EndofMysteries thread an hour ago about the biology professor whose words have been taken out of context in an article on evolution in Awake! I suggest the evolution books the Borg released were stuffed with misquotes from scientists to cast doubt on evolution.

  received revealing "witness" in parking lot

  a few weeks ago i was working out of my home state and was in a grocery store parking lot when i received my first jw witness since leaving jwdom.

  a youngish-looking lady was sitting in an suv parked next to my car and i was about to get in my car to leave.

  she opened the door and asked whether she could give me something to read (had a tract in her hand)..

  Great work Magnum. How typical that they are being taught ad hominem phrases but no scriptural argumentation of the kind we learned. As you say all they can do is hand you a leaflet and keep repeating the web site. Truly a dumbing down especially after living through the overlapping generations fiasco she doesn't even know about it.

  That's why I asked the question where is this vid from. It's so cultish. From one of the most controlling religions in the world that made us miserable, pretending they are the happiest people in the world.

  I have seen about five threads on this vid talking about how disgusting it is, should dancing be allowed, should people dressed as Bible characters dance and the obvious question, to me anyway, is where did it come from.
