Mandatory reporting and misprision
by Xanthippe inday 7 of the australian royal commission has chair justice peter mcclellan raising the point that i have been wondering about all along, which is, how can these elders not report child abuse to the authorities especially when a full confession has taken place?.
justice mcclellan asked toole, the wts's lawyer, if he is aware that there is a difference between an organisation being required to have mandatory reporting of child abuse to the authorities and misprision which is the concealment of a felony, itself a criminal offence?
toole says he is aware of it now but he wasn't before!

If nothing else, this is demonstrating that even the highest-ranked WT reps really are "True Believers". - Vidiot
I'm not sure this is true. As I've mentioned before the Divine Right of Kings in Europe five hundred years ago gave religious authority to monarchs and as we know the most terrible atrocities resulted. Did they really believe they were ruling by divine right? Who knows, but it gave them tremendous power and who wants to give up that kind of power to bow to laws made in a democracy?
'The divine right of kings or divine right is a political and religious doctrine of royal and political legitimacy. It asserts that a monarch is subject to no earthly authority, deriving the right to rule directly from the will of God. The king is thus not subject to the will of his people, the aristocracy, or any other estate of the realm, including (in the view of some, especially in Protestant countries or during the reign of Henry VIII of England) the Catholic Church. According to this doctrine, only God can judge an unjust king. The doctrine implies that any attempt to depose the king or to restrict his powers runs contrary to the will of God and may constitute a sacrilegious act. It is often expressed in the phrase "by the Grace of God," attached to the titles of a reigning monarch.'

Only God can judge an unjust king. What does that remind you of - wait on Jehovah.

There is likely to be two parts to Geoffrey Jackson's Subpeona
by Listener inwe've been focusing on the fact that geoffrey jackson will be subpoenaed to be a witness at the australian royal commission but he will also be required to present a witness statement before his appearance.
even if he continues to wiggle out of the appearance he has no excuse for not presenting his witness statement.. this statement will have to address questions set out by the commission and will need to be answered.
without doubt the answers he is able to be aided by his lawyers and more 'experienced' jws but as he is signing the document they will be his answers and he will be responsible for their truthfulness.. had he shown more willingness to appear prior to yesterday the questions asked by the commission in that statement would not have been written with the same amount of insight that they now have.

I'm not sure Jackson is going to be subpoenaed. The impression I got from the hearing was that McClellan told counsel for the commission Stewart to talk to counsel for WTS and sort it out between them. We could do with Jackson's assistance if policies and procedures need to be changed is how chair McClellan put it while sympathising with Jackson's father's illness. He is aware that everything he says is being watched by the world and his words will be on YouTube for years. -

I thought it was interesting that counsel for BCB quoted Gal. 6:5,
'Each one will carry his own load'
in the context of an individual being responsible for reporting child abuse that they become aware of.
Is she just speaking to the JW lawyer in his language or is she referring to what may happen if JWs continue to conceal crimes against children?

Day 7 of the Australian Royal Commission has chair Justice Peter McClellan raising the point that I have been wondering about all along, which is, how can these elders not report child abuse to the authorities especially when a full confession has taken place?
Justice McClellan asked Toole, the WTS's lawyer, if he is aware that there is a difference between an organisation being required to have mandatory reporting of child abuse to the authorities and misprision which is the concealment of a felony, itself a criminal offence?
Toole says he is aware of it now but he wasn't before! I find this incomprehensible. Surely a lawyer knows that concealing a crime is in itself a crime? All along I, as a person unfamiliar with the intricacies of criminal law, have nevertheless been thinking surely they are committing offences by concealing these crimes of child abuse.
The counsel for BCB and chair McClellan have just pointed out before the Commision adjourned that individuals all do have this obligation under Australian law aside from organisational mandatory reporting. I wonder now what will be the fallout from this?

Makes me sick too. I just can't believe they can get away with saying things like this. Are JWs walking in their sleep? Don't they think these phrases are revolting? -

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

I love this thread. Thanks for bringing it back DF. Loved your quote about people with an open-lipped smile are more trustworthy that those with a closed-lip smile. So funny! Introverts know who is trustworthy and who isn't instantly don't we?
All the fake body language in the world won't make any difference at all. I always know when people are lying. That because I'm a useless introvert! Damn it we survive though don't we!

'Women are a kind of man. Women are here :-
1. To serve God
2. To fill the needs of man 😖
3. To be married.'
I'll just chain myself to the kitchen sink now. I can't believe women are accepting this. It was bad when I was in but never this blatant.
