I don't know who is saying women and children first. Do you have a specific example. When my colleagues and I evacuate the public building where I work if there is a fire, bomb threat etc, we evacuate everyone. Where do people get these ideas that women are still doing this that and the other, what the heck do you mean? Who is saying women and children first?

Evangelicals and Unbelievers
by Boredposter ini have been noticing a distinct difference in reaction to those who leave christianity among evangelicals and jehovah's witnesses.
when i left jwism there wasn't much effort to correct me.
i know this is not a surprise to any of you.

Surely your link is to a Christian site and article about Christianity. Why are you talking about apologists trying to bring people back to Christianity? You've lost me. I don't know what you're talking about.

Explain why you are happy if you believe there is no afterlife vs when you joined JW's
by Bad_Wolf inone thing that has intrigued me are so many who have left, who are wholly convinced everything in existence is merely by chance now, also claim they wouldn't want to live forever, and perfectly fine if this is the only life.
now, i would understand that if you were raised into the religion.
i was raised into it.

I am happy if there's an afterlife and if there isn't I won't know anything about it. I would love to live forever, people who say it would be boring amaze me. Perhaps they're bored now.
I also don't agree that believing in the possibility of an afterlife destroys your enjoyment of the present and postpones happiness. That only happens if you're in a religion that won't let you enjoy life and makes you work to appease a deity and earn an afterlife.
Religions don't have anything to do with our existence on this planet or anything that may be beyond. They're selling tickets for a gig they don't know the way to.

The Latest Thing Waking People Up...
by pale.emperor insince i woke up and left i've been contacted by others i knew from my youth who've also left the cult.
also people around the world on facebook adding me out of the blue because we have mutual friends and they occasionally ask me stuff or share their story.. what i've noticed in the vast majority of cases, is that people are waking up not because of the arc or doctrine but apathy.
active jws are becoming less and less interested, less and less bothered.

It was all very well when you were living within an actual generation of 1914, well the one they give, three score and ten. But when it's been 104 years and they're still telling you to do more, it's just around the corner, come on!
Thats good news by the way that people are just leaving because they're fed up, PE. Very good news.

Screwed up sexually
by purrpurr ini was thinking about how the borg screws up and sexually neuters their flock by telling them when single to "deaden their body" and then boom as soon as there's a ring on the finger to not be denying eachother.. do any of you know of jws who have been screwed up by these teachings?
i know 2, 1 elder came back from honeymoon having a nervous breakdown unable to cope with the cd that sex produced in his head.
and the other called up her parents while on honeymoon, crying and begging for themto come and get her, since she was so shocked that sex hurt.

When you get married to a guy you love more than life but he has been an enforced virgin for 27 years. He wants to make love three time a day and that's fine because I was only twenty-two but after a few months you get tired when you're pioneering and going to work as well. All the housework too, my privilege of course. You just want to take a night off occasionally and sleep, you know! He can't though, because masturbation is forbidden, even in marriage. Arrrggh!! Stupid cult.

The Shape of Water. It was just so different. None of the normal action or heroics and yet very ordinary people doing brave things. Only if you like sci fi of course but not your standard runnin', jumpin' and shootin'. I enjoyed it, didn't get bored.

Have you ever considered how bizarre the idea of "War in Heaven" really is?
by TerryWalstrom inwhen you grow up and look back on childhood belief you have to laugh at how.
easter bunnies and santa were all too plausible for children because trusted adults who were otherwise unimpeachable sources of truth and reality assured and reassured kids.
why wouldn't they accept it?jehovah's witness kids didn't have santa, we had armageddon.only this morning i suddenly asked myself why i ever accepted the idea of a war in heaven as even remotely sane.

What a terrible thing to send the Devil and his demons here anyway, of all the planets to send him to! Typical of ancient beliefs that he's described as being thrown down to earth from heaven. In ancient times heaven was above the earth.
Why send them here? Surely humans were having enough trouble trying to survive and develop civilisation without evil angels being dropped on us. Then a war is needed to rid the earth of them later after they've caused havoc here. Weird story!

2018 convention
by Akid48 insorry i forgot to update when i was there.. the only things i want to talk about is how they would tell young ones to tell every body in school that their a jw.i hate when this happens this will not go well for all.they had one random video about some kid,the kid said the teacher would make fun of him,but one day the teacher let him talk about being a jw (this parts bs)then some random teachers and the principal walked in for no reason, and he got to talk about to most of the school wtf.. i hate the fact they tell kids to tell every body their a jw once again this will not go well for all..

Well said akid48. The whole point of getting kids to talk about it at school and adults to talk about it at work is to get them alienated from other people as soon as possible. It's a cult ploy so that you have to find a support group within the cult and you can never leave because you've frightened all your friends away. Good thread.
