Change the Channel!

on another thread band on the run mentioned the jw habit of changing the channel on tv abruptly whenever something spiritually reprehensible might pop up.. recently, when i was visiting a family member, they changed the channel from sumo wrestling so that we would not see such obscene nudity.. of course, as soon as i left the room the channel would switch back.

id come in and it would switch again.

this made for a semi entertaining game of seeing how close i could get before the channel changed.

Flipper: No Joke. No Nudity allowed in my family. I did have a JW friend growing up whose family would all get naked in the showers at the beach- and I was HORRIFIED. Having never seen a naked human before. My next shock came next from the National Geographic where I studied the first adult penis ever- which was attached, like a long flaccid brown snake, to an Indian Saddhu. (shudder)

whathappened- its a high control group, when it dictates what way grown adults should choose their entertainment.

Problem addict- I think I know exactly the clip you mean- as I was like- why, oh why do they have to do this- show a chainsaw near a ladies head on regular TV!!! I have limits too, but its different that the bizarre channel changing JWs do when people on screen kiss to long or some magic happens.

Recently, when I was visiting a family member, they changed the channel from SUMO WRESTLING so that we would not see such obscene nudity.

Of course, as soon as I left the room the channel would switch back. Id come in and it would switch again. This made for a semi entertaining game of seeing how close I could get before the channel changed.

Why did you pick the name you have now

just wondering if your name describes what you saw, how you were treated when you were "in" or now "out", maybe your personality, ect.... i'm label licker and the why i picked this name was because of all the licking up one side of elders and down the other to either be an elder or ministerial servant.

one time i was standing right in front of this brother who wasn't made an ms yet and he totally ignored me and talked right over my head speaking really loud trying to catch the co's attention.. got sick of watching the poor elderly sitting all alone or standing against the wall like a wall flower with noone to talk to and yet all these label lickers would take turns picking up the elders elderly parents and take them shopping and do their groceries at least four times a week while out in service, yet, there was noone there to take a meal to a sister who just got out of the hospital with a heart attack.

when i had shown up at her apartment with a meal she asked if i could wash her private and change her bandages.

My Dad's story

every once in a while it really hits me that he is no longer here to talk to.

unlike most of you, i wouldnt have been afraid to approach him with questions or doubts.

JW preached to me not knowing I'm still in...

so i was working at my 2nd job today in a store and i was the cashier for most of the day.

it's been about 2 weeks since i've been to a meeting & i hadn't shaved so i had a somewhat hipster-ish stubbly beard going on.

also my hair has gotten slightly longer, nothing noticeable to the world but something that would turn a few heads at the kingdom hall.

So where is all this supposed worldwide persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses?

for years, it was drummed into our heads that the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one who hates us and a result, mankind particularly hates the jws with a passion.. now that i think about it, i've seen very little evidence of that.

i mean yes, in places like malawi, germany and some other countries the witnesses have been through real persecution - not the type that the average dub would call it like doors being slammed in the face.

but what have they experienced that many other religions in other countries haven't?
