by itscrap&theyknowit! init's been a long time.. well, i guess i'm gonna have to 'cut the cord' with my family.of course, they are all big sinners in jehovah's borganization, as is my husband.
but, i need to get it together and start attending meetings again!.
because he is the hypocrite and i don't tell them everything that goes on in our marriage, his word holds power over mine.

The Bible-- Full of Errors And Inconsistencies?

if you feel this way, can you please list any specific reasons/arguments as to why not.

Whether or not it is the word of JHVH God, there is enough incriminaing information there about his personality for me to steer clear.
There are other Gods and other holy books, you know.
Maybe if I were wandering around in the middle eastern dust about 3000 years ago he might have had more appeal for me. But even then, you could take your pick.
Molech, YhWh, Baal, El, Asheroth, just to name a few.

as i was reading the sparlock article, i couldn't help but notice something seriously wrong:.

Believe it or not, another brief elder encounter yesterday...
by sd-7 init was another elder from my judicial committee, came up to me after i'd strapped my daughter into the car.
two things that struck me as different were (1) he didn't feel a need to bring a second elder along with him as if something that required two witnesses was going to be said by someone who'd been df'd for two years and 99.9% absent from meetings as well, and (2) he actually seemed genuinely friendly.
he simply asked if i was planning to come to the meetings again anytime soon.

the thought that immediately came to mind after I'd gotten in my car and gotten off the parking lot was...this is how abusers work. They want to keep you off-balance emotionally. Highs and lows short-circuit rational thinking.

Information Urgently Needed
by SCGrl ini just signed up although i lurked years ago.
i finally managed to move on and lost interest in ex-jw sites.
but now i am in a situation requiring a bit of detective work and the recalling of past occurrences and i really need to know the dates for the memorial every year from 1987 up to this year.

Your grandmother and mine should be friends. Unless they are one and the same and you are my long lost cousin.
I too had kept my mouth shut for the sake of the old, thinking, oh yes they are old and you dont want to upset them.
Ive decided thats a crock, they are old and old enough to know better. At some point, everyone is an adult, and responsible for their bad behavior.

but despite that:
You know something is wrong when:
When people pretend to be one way and you know they are not who they pretend to be.
When women are treated as lesser.
When people respond with fear and memorized answers.
When people are spying on each other.
When a perfectly reasonable question is shot down with personal attacks and emotion
Are you allowed to ask questions, really. In the WTS, the answer is no.
The quickest way to get out mentally:
Allow yourself to imagine other realities in the form of what if questions
What if there is no God
What if the world doesnt end in my lifetime
What if I can be a happier, kinder person and enjoy life
What if other people are not so bad and not doomed to destruction after all
what can I become (the power of questioning your own potential)
