that's what i usually asked myself.
i just couldn't imagine the apostles having to lug a heavy bag of literature door to door like we did.
Its all bandwagon stuff. First century apostle are portrayed as miracle working, powerful revolutionary INDIVIDUALS. Rutherford was a power hungery, antiestablishment guy. He followed in the proud american revolution tradition. His only miracle was converting ethyl alchohal into water, opposite from what jesus did.
Russell followed the british american fringe types.
Russell and rutherford were individuals, but their followers were not allowed that luxury.

so while making a you tube video of my dad today, i came across this in a dvd of home movies from way back, i didn't even know about it... originally shot on super 8 film, shot off screen with camcorder in 1992, with open mic, transfered to dvd in 2010 .. made to you tube in 2013.... check out the food service, without paper plates no less .. it's only a couple minutes on convention then, a little seatle conventions were a family vacation when we were growing up ... .

I remember those compartmented metal trays. Assembly food was good. It was real mashed potatoes and gravy, and other real stuff. Those were the days. The wt had lots to say, too. They could fill up to 7 long assembly days w their ideas, of the day.

what the ot says ... what sources of evidence do we have that account for the 'great escape' of the christians from jerusalem after cestius gallus siege of 66 ce ?
do we have any christian prespective about it?
since i concluded that all nt books were concluded before 66 ce (including revelation), what do we have in order to support the story that the jerusalem christians ran to pela ...etc....?
Rodney starks book, the rise of christianty says that cities became the main early growth centers for early christianity. Rome was one of the main ones. The word that we use to define nonchristian, pagan, came into use from this event. Pagan meant the country folk - the nonchristian ones, as compared to city people, where christianity was rising. So, christianity had already spread out of jerusalem, before its destruction.

I agree, its possible. I have had female friends for yrs. I would say that both have to be in the friends only mode. And, it wouldn't be a secret.

i've been reading a lot and learning even more (project deadlines to meet), getting this overwhelming satisfaction and feeling good.. and then i stopped and realised that i never got that feeling when reading borg publications.. i also realized that i have probably read more non-fiction books in the last month than i did during my whole life in the borg.. for all my reading (and i was fully in) i read no more than two wt books cover to cover.
none of my study books were studied cover to cover and wts were usually quickly underlined and rarely properly studied.
magazines were usually flicked through and resolutions to read them cover to cover rarely lasted more than a few weeks.. i did manage to read the bible through once - but that was because i was always afraid someone door to door would ask me if i had, so i figured i should just crack on with it.
At the beginning, i read a few wt books. I tried reading throught the bible a few times. I ended up reading it in sections, maybe i read the whole thing. After a couple of wt yrs, i started reading other things a lot more. Mainly, i read science and science fiction. I must have read hundreds of sf books. When i exited wt, and entered my christain phase, i stopped the sf and started w bible background, theology, church histroy, stories of the catholic saints. Also, history and psychology. So, i did read a lot.
Leaving the christian phase, i cut down drastically on my reading. I still do a bit on some subjects that interest me, but nothing like i did.

the only reason i am posting this is because i know many of you are going or will be going through something similar and wonder if it is worth it.
i personally feel that it is worth it regardless of what i lose.
my wife is backing me and i have my children.
My mother turned me in, as well. She thought it was a last ditch attempt at saving me. She was like yours.

like many, my path to the ttatt was a long and painful journey.
i wasnt mature or intellectually honest enough to "wake up" while still an active witness.
(i applaud those who have awaken while active; that is mental rigour i wish i had!
Getting a more complete picture helps.
Your friend is likely in a LOT of denial, still. Still a believer. He likely needs to talk a lot about his wt issues and beliefs. Coming here and doing just that would likely do the trick.
