this link is from an official jw website, and i believe those interested in such connections should take a long and hard look at the russiand and other jw sites.
it seems they are more "open" as to admit, and not least - use - their un connections as a tool of the trade.. i have reasons to believe the wtbts will try to use as defence that "human right issues are non-political" - and as such say the un connection is really a non-issue.

Maybe they wanted to use the info from un libraries not to write articles, but to learn about politics, culture, economic conditions and who is who in 3rd world countries. This would be called 'intelligence', spying out the lands to plan strategies. Just a thought.

I would say: Jesus, all these other christian religions like the pentacostles, baptists, and a bunch of others did everything you said to do. They visited prisoners, they fed and took care of vagrants, drunks, and druggies, they preached about your salvation, they expelled demons, they healed in your name, and they worshipped you like a god. They sang for for you hours at a time, and chanted your name. They had parties for you. Are they not your brothers?
The wt only had boring meetings about jehovah and how he was going to kill everybody. They called for jehovah to exterminate everybody else at least 8 times. Why would you pass over them all for the jws who only worshipped jehovah and preached about him and his goal of killing almost everybody? You said you were going to attract ALL men to you. Why did you give up?

following up on my self esteem thread, i have been doing some thinking about worth and self worth and what makes people worth something.. how do you define worth?.
everybody's worth can be defined monetarily by how many assets he/she owns but those are not the person's worth, they are they worth of what they own.. to the world in general, each individual is not worth much.
i would say that the amount of worth is infinitesimal when put up against 6 billion humans (not counting the trillions of other living entities alive at any one point in time) and then also put up against all the humans that have ever lived.. its hard to compare your worth to einstein, newton, salk and a handful of others whose lives have actually shifted the human experience positively.

I have the belief that we all have a built in value that stayes the same whether we accomplish a lot or do nothing. To illustrate: what does my cat do for me. True, she is good company, sometimes a pain in the but. But really she is just being a cat, and i love her. That is what she is good at. I understand that most cats are similar to mine.
Just by being a human and doing nothing at all, you have the same value as an achiever. For fun, you could try an experiment where you do absolutely nothing for a couple of days, always reminding yourself that you are worth as much during that time as on the days where you have conquered the world. This is a chance to be with yourself so to speak, to fully accept yourself, without any outside values added. I am expressing this as best i can.
in past posts i have placed god on trial by questioning two issues: 1) the issues in the graden of eden, and the severe punishment of the entire human race for a very minor act of eating fruit.
2) god ordering the extermination of entire cities, including every last man, woman, child, baby, and even livestock.. results: the result on this forum have be mixed as expected, but showed a range from suport to tryuionmg top explain these events with reasoning, logic, or plausibilities.
some felt that i might be losing my faith.

I like your little thesis, i guess because i see it on similar lines, although i lean a bit toward reincarnation. Maybe it's out of fear of nonexistence. Then again nde's, eastern philosophy and munroe institute suggest there is an afterlife. Nevertheless you expressed it well.

I guess i look at individual worth from a spiritual angle. Jesus said he was god and his opposers were gods. While that may not be accurate, what seems true is that we are all a chip off the old block, so to speak, ie we all have that divine spark or spark of the divine. It just becomes veiled underneath a bunch of crap. Through meditation or other spiritual exercises we can see that divine part again. To take it a bit further, my theory is that: 'god' is spirit is life, therefore life is spirit is 'god'.
The wt/bible conditional divine love is totally wrong.

As you are reading the bible, you could visit a few churches, or even places like a buddhist or unitarian church. Don't worry, they don't have anymore demons than the kingdom hall does. Their ministers also like to answer questions. Unitarian people are the best educated religion. You can have a good time checking things out.

It's probably a good idea to take your time and keep your head down. Don't challenge them. If you pose questions about negative aspects about the society, use a hypothetical approach, they will feel less like you are challenging them. If they try to force you to commit for or against the society or tough things like that, you could tell them that you are just a bit confused right now.
If you got dfd, how would that affect your studies, your social life? You could just quietly research stuff for a while. Have confidence in yourself. Trust that whichever higher power you feel the most comfortable with (jehovah, jesus, god) is helping you along with guidance, so that you will end up going the way that is right or you. That higher power really wants what is bets for you. It never gets angry, as the wt claims. It never runs out of time, like the wt claims.

having a chinese background, it has been incorporated in our culture to believe in wicked spirits and that sort of stuff..i was wondering if any here could enlighten me with some of their knowledge with regard this subject..my mom's core reason of believing that the jws are the true religion is because of the fact that she found peace and she said that 'wicked spirits' stopped attacking her when she became a jw..(she said that sometimes she felt that wicked spirits want to rape her or something while she was sleeping/dreaming?
)i sometimes think that this is pure imagination but who am i to judge it is her experience anyways..some say that this may be a medical problem but do any of you believe that this might be true?
do wicked spirits/demons really want to 'disturb' us humans?

Some ppeople think that like musical ability, everyone has psychic or spiritual potential. I think they are the same. If one is a chritian, it's called spirituality. If one is nonreligious, it's called psychic. If a person is motivated by negativity such as fear, hate, envy etc, it is the dark side.
Naturally some are more gifted. Others have to work really hard at it, but if a person wants it and works at it, s/he will get it. A good starting point is meditation for say 15 minutes a day. I'm not evangelising for this, but if this is a field in which you have interest, there lots of info, lots bogus, lots of good stuff, christian, pagan or secular.
