oh and I forgot to say I have been screening my calls. I have had couple of calls from withheld numbers that I haven't answered (but to be fair it might not be from them, but I suspect it is)

They have texted and knocked on my door twice since last week when I posted the Tight Pants video on my Facebook page. I replied to the text to say I would call them when I wasn't so busy and was ready for them to come around. I haven't bothered answering the door when they have knocked.

Did Prince Just Say Goodbye to the Jehovah's Witnesses?
by ithinkisee inhttp://allied.blogspot.com/2007/02/prince-says-goodbye-to-jehovahs.html.
any music fan who watched the super bowl last night could rightly walk into work this morning and say, "did you see the bears and colts play football during prince's concert?".
(reprinted from the link above).

Of all the Eighties acts to become a Jehovah's Witness, why did it have to be Prince? Why not someone more frivolous, irreverent and fun? Like those hard-drinking party girls Bananarama? Stupid question. on becoming a JW any fun would be sucked right out of them. Come to think of it, Prince is probably the right choice. I find him as pretentious and boring now as I ever did. (apologies to any Prince fans on the forum lol).

Homosexuality, the GB and the Bible
by Oubliette inthe recent topics addressing the shamefully bigoted talk by jw gb member, anthony morris, on the subject of homosexuality got me thinking.
what the heck is up with the gb's obsession with this subject?.
as far as i can determine, jesus never said a single thing in reference to homosexuality.

@MeanMrMustard
It's the comment "Being gay is wrong" that's a bit homophobic really. I appreciate a christian might have the view that men having sex with each other is wrong (that's the extent to which the bible addresses same gender sexual activity - it does not address homosexuality itself as a concept).
To illustrate: "being gay is wrong" is like saying "being from Jamaica is wrong". If a christian goes with what the Bible has to say, the most they can say is that it's wrong for men to have intercourse with each other. (using the Jamaican example, it's like saying it's wrong to eat jerk chicken hehe).
There is more to being homosexual than just having sex, though clearly that is a big part of it. What most fundamental religionists don't seem to recognise is that it's not so much about sex as it is about love, hopes and dreams and who you are
If one wanted to be really pedantic and use JW reasoning: take a look at the Insight Book Vol 1, under Crime and Punishment, page 549, under the heading Major Crimes Under The Law. Here the WTS interprets the words used at Lev 18:22 as "sodomy" (no 11 in the list). If this interpretation of a man lying with another man as a woman etc is correct (I'm not convinced to be honest), then as far as homosexuality is concerned, the bible only condemns sodomy. (Paul's scripture at 1 Cor uses an adaption of the hebrew word used in Leviticus).
The point being that the bible does not condemn homosexuality. That is why, to me as a gay man, Tony Morris' talk was so offensive when he ranted about many many many homosexuals being in the fashion industry. Does he not realise there are many many many homosexuals who are Jehovah's Witnesses? What message is he giving them apart from extra guilt and self loathing, knowing he thinks they are "disgusting"?
(edited - far too many mistakes and typos, sorry!)

[w14 02/15] The "Photodrama of Creation" centenary article
by ZionsWatchTower ina recent article in the watchtower, february 15, 2014 addresses the centenary of the photo-drama of creation.
then comment it on this 'remarkable work', but it will never be displayed by the watchtower again .... _______________________________.
the 1890s introduced silent motion pictures to the public.

I was about to respond to the following smug tweet by a dub:
"eat your heart out Hollywood! Guess who made movies with colour & sound b4 you did" [followed by link to jw.org]
I was going to answer "Le Vie Et La Passion de Jesus Christ 1903". Before doing so I thought I had better make sure I got my facts straight.
My findings were that while the french film could lay claim to having sound (i.e. music) and so I could counter the Jdub's tweet on a minor technicality if I wished to, the film could not lay claim to having synchronised voice/speech. This was indeed a milestone that the Photo Drama of Creation can lay claim to. Even non witness film buffs acknowledge this (for example see this link to Film History Milestones).
I'm not being an apologist. I just think that sometimes we are so enthusiastic to pick holes with the WTBS that we fall foul of exactly what we are accusing them of and can completely undermine our "apostate" credibility. I'm really not sure what the value of the claims made by OP of this thread is.
Maybe a more interesting aspect of this is that it was the Bible Students who can lay claim to this milestone, not JWs. Considering that JWs apostasised from the Bible Students, they cannot really take the credit for this achievement.

Most Ridiculous Thing You've Ever Been Counseled On
by MrFreeze ini'm sure topics like this have already come up but they tend to get hilarious with the absolute absurdity that goes on in the kh.
i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.
i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

I was told off in front of everyone in the middle of the KH for answering up. The previous weekend my restrictions were lifted (following a JC a few months earlier) and I was encouraged to answer in the Service Meeting, which I did. after the meeting an elder came up to me and angrily said "why did you answer up when you're not allowed to?" I wanted to die on the spot.
Less serious but maybe more daft matters I was counselled on over the years:
As a small child, listening to Abba songs ("they are immoral")
Again when I was a kid, wearing a badge (I think it had come free with fizzy drink or something)
Later on, wearing a beard (wasn't formally counselled but just got a few barbed comments hehe. Ironically they made me an MS even though I didn't shave it off)

Top evolution researchers agree: There is A Creator! The Watchtower is Right!
by mariu inokay, it's just one scientist: http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201404/frederic-dumoulin-interview/.
but he's a very eminent one!.
for more than a decade, frederic dumoulin has worked in the field of pharmaceutical research ... studied the effects of medications and toxins on living creatures ... such design simply could not have evolved.
