I like the idea of the country being shown. If anyone doesn't want the country they are posting from to be known, there are plenty of proxy/browser add-ons that can display an alternative in order to protect privacy.

Poster country flags and privacy
by Simon inthe new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.

New forum 'parousia' is upon us! (software version)
by Simon inthe time has nearly come to switch over to the new forum software.
of course it's not completely finished yet (and never will be) but i think it's good enough to go live with and probably already better than the current one.
i'll give you a quick overview of what to expect and post more detail about the changeover process later.. cloud platform.

Yep all the time for everything. Apart from the whole gay thing, there was not being spiritual enough, not going on FS enough, not doing return visits, my public prayers not sounding as impressive or being as long as other brothers', not fitting in with the spiritual superstars, despite spending hours preparing meetings, still not finishing that preparation or falling asleep in the middle of it, not being as good a ministerial servant as the others, having a few non witness friends whose company I enjoyed more than jws, oh and did I mention the gay thing? ;)

the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

We had a brick thrown thru the window and it landed in a middle-aged sister's lap. She wasn't hurt I think her bible protected her. Lol. As for the book study, I could write a book on the interruptions we had virty every week due to the freaky people assigned to our group.

conversation turns to bethel's recruitment drive for volunteers to help build the new complex in essex and how many pioneers and holding back from volunteering directly with bethel but willing to volunteer thru what was the regional building committee (can't remember what the new name for rbcs is).

@objectivetruth: exactly! How legalistic can one get? Either Buiding bethel counts or it doesn't. WTF does it matter if the work is done via the RBCS or directly for Bethel? (Sorry for my language I just think this is so ridiculous yet I didn't think much of this kind of thing while I was in)

Conversation turns to Bethel's recruitment drive for volunteers to help build the new complex in Essex and how many pioneers and holding back from volunteering directly with bethel but willing to volunteer thru what was the regional building committee (can't remember what the new name for RBCs is). The reason? You can count your time if you do it with the Regional Building Committee but not if you volunteer directly with Bethel. I mean, WTF?! Do these people not hear themselves?

I don't think this is anything new at least not for pioneers. Text messages have been counted as return visits for years.

Avoid the elders. Just don't be available. I had an elder stop me in the street once for a chit chat ;) and then he got to the point - the other elders had told him he was more likely to see me than the others were and so they asked him to arrange a time when two of them could come around. I just said I'm really busy at the moment so I'll get in touch when I can make some time spare. He kept labouring the point - but we'd really like to see you etc - I just kept repeating exactly the same phrase. He eventually got the message. I haven't heard from any of them since.

Don't bank on a dramatic reaction. I grew a beard in order to avoid being made a ministerial servant but it didn't work. Depends on your local elders I guess.
