  Intersting Visit from our local JWs yesturday

  way to early on a saturday morning we got a ring on our doorbell.

  someone else answered the door.

  after they left i walked by our entry way and gagged from the smell!

  I didn't like this OP. No matter how thoughtless someone is by wearing too much perfume, they don't need to be subjected to aggression. If I'm honest my immediate thoughts about the OP when reading it were "what a horrible person looking for an excuse to shout at these people" and "some people need to get a life". Yes I know that's very judgemental of me, but I was raised JW and some traits are hard to shake off.

  But you know the most offensive thing about this? The title. It says "interesting visit" (sorry "intersting"). I was expecting some interesting debate, or an opportunity taken to wake up some JWs, but, no, this was just a boring excuse to belittle and intimidate a couple of strangers. Stereotypical apostate in fact ;)

  We're not trying to convert you

  recently i saw a link to an article from the st. petersburg times (one of these links on the side of this forum to sometimes old articles).

  it was an article about jws and their preaching work.

  imo, middle to favorable.. but the one thing was from a door where the jws are saying they're not here to convert anyone, they just want to share a scripture.. what sort of bs is this?

  The catchphrase when I was in was "We're not out to convert people, only they can do that themselves". Utter crap obviously, but that's the way we were taught to justify such glib statements.

  I need help finding 2 specific Awake or Watchtower articles from 70's or 80's regarding converting homosexuals.

  i remember reading at least 2 articles from the 70's or early 80's referencing people that supposedly changed from gay to straight while jehovah's witnesses.

  i can't remember the specifics or maybe i was just reading that into the article at the time.

  does anyone remember these articles or something similar?.

  These articles make me so angry. These are the ones certain elders thrust in my face. I find the first one particularly repugnant that the guy left his partner - must have been very painful for the other guy but it's just glossed over as if no importance - he had his chance and didn't take it". What a load of evil crap.

  been reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.

  i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.

  i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

  it's getting to the point where cnn should start announcing "breaking news" if there *hasn't* been a mass shooting !.

  it's crazy.. i was watching the 70's documentary they are running and that's the point when media hype about mass serial killers seemed to begin the danger-gun-solution hype cycle.

  sure, people had guns before then but nowhere near like it is now.. when will it end?

We had to all hide in the bathroom together and be really quiet. It was really scary but the teacher said if there was a real man with a gun trying to find us, she'd cover us up and protect us from him. Tommy started crying. I tried to be brave."

  My three-year-old nephew had the same drill at his preschool in Virginia. Three-year-old American babies and teachers—hiding in bathrooms, holding hands, preparing for death. We are saying to teachers: arm yourselves and fight men with assault rifles because we are too cowardly to fight the gun lobby. We are saying to a terrified generation of American children—WE WILL NOT DO WHAT IT TAKES TO PROTECT YOU. WE WILL NOT EVEN TRY. So just be very quiet, hide and wait. Hold your breath. Shhh.

  I've decided not to be very quiet, hide and wait anymore. I'm done offering prayers and condolences and instead I offer my fury and my creativity and my fire and my energy and my sanity and my love. I've joined my voice to the‪#‎gunsense‬ movement and I've got my beginner boots back on and I'm learning. If you are a gun owner who believes in sensible gun reform—let us join forces. If you are not a gun owner (like me and Craig) and you believe in sensible gun reform, let us join forces. If you are someone who can look at the statistics of gun violence in this country and refuse to enter a conversation about change: well—I don't even know what to say. Except that I'm not talking about taking your guns. I'm talking about taking your non-existent right to an assault weapon without a damn background check. If you can tell me that your right to an assault weapon without a background check is more important than my child's right to stop preparing for her own death at school—well then, I'll see you on the other side of the march.

  We've got BOOKS banned in this country to "keep our kids safe" but we won't ban assault weapons to keep them safe. Lord, have mercy. And please let us not use tired arguments like "Bad guys will get guns anyway." Yes, bad guys will also run red lights. We still have traffic laws. Bad guys will still rape.We still have laws against rape. Let us not be ridiculous while our babies are dying.

  The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for pissed off parents to do and say nothing.

  Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with the parents. Let us choose the lives of our children over the money of the gun lobby. Let us stop being quiet and hiding and get loud.

  Essex Newspaper Confirms WT Cutting Back But Not at Chelmsford

  link below.. jehovah's witnesses have quashed rumours that the bid to bring their headquarters to chelmsford could collapse due to financial turmoil.. the international bible students' association (ibsa), the organisation which circulates the christian group's literature, said on monday that the construction in temple farm in west hanningfield will continue.. an anonymous source contacted the chronicle on friday claiming a woman in the ibsa's construction department confirmed the project would terminate.. the man, a current jehovah's witness member, said: "something major is going on with the organisation financially.".

  the ibsa did however confirm it was pulling the plug on other construction projects worldwide.. stephen morris, ibsa's personnel support manager at its branch relocation department, said: "in order to make best use of contributed funds, some construction projects worldwide will be delayed or cancelled..   my thoughts are.

  1. they want to avoid being made to comply with any laws that come with anything classed as a "school" especially a school with children enrolled.. 2. the mid-week meeting has been dying in the ass for years and needs a revival.

  i predict happy -clappy-sing-a-longs to be included in the program.. anyone else have any thoughts ??

  That was my thoughts too. I think the most likely scenario is that they're getting jittery over the current "world conditions" (TM), especially the migrant crisis that doom-mongers are saying is going to end western civilisation as we know it. They are probably desperately fitting it into their prophetic models of overlapping generations, UN and peace and security scenarios as we speak.

  Mark my words they are taking an opportunistic advantage of people's fears. The building work will be back on track next year (assuming Armageddon doesn't come in the meantime ahem)

  My Mom Is Dying

  i just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.

  she is on morphine and hanging on.

  she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.
