We do have freedom of religion in Australia - I attend the Rev Harley Davidson’s Church of the Righteous Hog, and nobody hassles me too much about that!

I saw things done to make children sit quietly at JW meetings which could only be described as atrocities.
No bones were broken, nobody died, but what was inflicted on those children (who were just being children) was outright inhumane. 40+ years later, I still cringe when I think about it.

Remembering Rutherford
by Sea Breeze inhe seems to me to be the angriest and most ill-tempered of all the wt presidents, especially after his stint in prison and failed prophecies.. “regarding his misguided statements as to what we could expect in 1925, he [rutherford] once confessed to us at bethel, “i made an ass of myself.”” watchtower 1984 oct 1 p.24.
rutherford died at beth sarim on january 8, 1942, at the age of 72.
[220] cause of death was...carcinoma of the rectum..."[21] .

In that video posted by Dropofyourkeylee, we see Rutherford kissing fruit.
Hardly the actions of a sober man, I would have thought!

It is entirely possible that a person comes to believe their own propaganda. The deluded bloody fools mentioned above quite likely did so.

Awake is back?
Bloody good show!
A major reason I am so £#cked up is because I began reading those £#cking bloody things from age eleven.
But of course, reading Awake is the equivalent of a university degree!

Adjoining hotel rooms with an interconnecting door, plus very similar arrangements in The Judge’s private railway carriage? (And they very definitely weren’t married!)
What was that about an unmarried couple being “under the same roof for the entire night”? Certainly enough to get mere mortals disfellowshipped - these days, anyway.

Documented proof?
The bastard was too cunning to leave much if any of that around. There is, though, circumstantial evidence aplenty that he loved his booze. Also, his conduct with certain female staff members would have been enough to get him disfellowshipped in the JW world of today.

Do technologies exist for all electric power in the USA to be produced solely from renewable energy sources at low cost? What about automobiles needing only a little gasoline or even not needing gasoline at all? Back in the year 1928 Rutherford said YES to both of these questions
One thing you would have to credit Judge Joseph Boozerford with, he certainly knew how to tell a good story (and some of it could even have been true!)
Typically, that spiel he made in Government was long on extravagant claims, but very short on actual detail. There have been many crackpot ideas about how to run an internal combustion engine on a minute amount of fuel, but these all have one thing in common - they don't work. Also, in Rutherford's time, the technology simply was not there to harness wave action for the generation of a usable supply of electricity (bloody hell, I would have hated to see the waveform that resulted from those efforts!) No wonder he failed to mention which US Patents were involved.
As others here have already noted, Rutherford - the typical religious charlatan - was certainly full of it.

Although in my mid-sixties, I am still working full time for an Electrical Engineering firm - although in a role best described as that of a "Busted @$$ Electrician".
In fact, during the last ten years, I have three times actually gone back "on the tools", but of late am mainly in the office. There have, though, been some lengthy visits to site (open-cut mining), with another one coming up next month. My involvement there was (and will be) with the high voltage switching activities.
Looking ahead, I can see myself remaining in the workforce for some considerable time yet to come. According to my employer, that is most likely going to involve a training role in High Voltage Switching and Isolations. To that end, I am presently studying towards attaining Certificate IV in Training and Assessments.
