So, I did a thing ... Shunned VIDcast #1 - Secrets - Jehovah's Witnesses and Cult Life
by dubstepped inalright, many of you know me from the this jw life and shunned podcasts along with my inane ramblings on here.
i just made my first video and put myself out there on youtube along with my podcast episodes that are on there now.
i put my podcast audio up on there as videos and new people are subscribing and finding it through that.

The urban legends we heard as JWs!
by stuckinarut2 inhow often have we heard some sort of sensationalist urban legend as jws?.
here is an example i was told as a kid:.
the experience of a sister who knocked on a door and was greeted by a big fierce looking man- intimidating and mean.

Has anyone mentioned this one yet? Sorry haven't read everything.
It was at a convention, never knew if it was true or not.
The man that was very ill in hospital and could see from his bed in the ward, a bird making a nest outside in a tree and he watched it and watched it and then when the chicks had fledged he asked if someone might go and get him the empty nest and when they did he looked at it and it has a piece of a tract inside it with the WT name and address. Said something like 'for further information...'
They said it was a true story but I never knew if it was or not.

what will be the next thing
by pepperheart inhi what will be the next thing that watchtower will cut,if you say the leaked video that fay put up the finance guy from the watchtower was saying that they had spent $26 million in about 6 months.
so if they are getting through money that fast then they are going to have problems.

I think they are sly and probably move money around all over the place. I don't know that things are that bad.
But on the other hand as anyone watched this:

What are the JWs saying about Trump?
by Wild_Thing inas much as jws say they are neutral, they can't help but discuss politics and label them as either bad or good and somehow connect it back to their dogma.
i remember hearing them discuss it all the time when i was a jw.
i can't help but wonder what the r&f are saying about trump and the many, many controversial events surrounding him.

My uber pioneer friend in Canada told me they excitedly wake up every morning to see what Trump has done next and thinks Trump will bring on the end of this system. She also says it's clear Jehovah God is pulling Satan in by a hook. So, I think a lot of JWs are excited by Trump.

Talking of JWS walking down the street. I just watched one of XJDUB's videos on Youtube and I could not believe the language of one of the 'brothers' he saw walking down the street towards his k.hall -- presumably where XJDUB was doing his protest.
I was really shocked to see this older brother direct such venom at XJDUB, calling him an *a..hole* saying he would 'beat the s***t out of him' and threatened to punch XJDUB in the face (I believe this 'brother' had already punch XJDUB in the stomach on a previous meeting)
Where was the fruitage of the spirit? This was a mature JW - possibly an elder? I just never expected a witness to talk to someone like that, no matter the circumstances.

by JunkYardDog ini had to go into a office close to a supermarket on a very high traffic expressway with next to no persons on the street anyway ever near.
i see this jw lady about 65 yrs old standing there alone with 2 bags of groceries staring at the catholic church one side across the interstate road and the kh across the other side of the highway.
cross bronx expressway.

Wow! If I was a JW looking for help, like I was last year, this thread would have sent me running.

Not Being Invited To Gatherings.
by kennylazo1 inhave you ever found out that your "buddies" from the kingdom hall went out to have fun and did not invite you?
if so how did you feel?.

I've been in many congregations - both sides of the pond - and I don't think I've been in one that wasn't cliquey.
I don't think I noticed it when the kids were small as I was too busy being a mum and it didn't bother me if we weren't included, but in my past (and present) congregation we were rarely included in things and more so when my husband and kids stopped going and it was just me. I couldn't get anyone to go out in service with me let alone get invited to anything!
Two of the kids decided to go to university, so I would have been labelled bad association. Some sisters made it quite obvious I wasn't wanted.
It felt very lonely at times. But like LongHairGal it made it easier to fade because no one was that bothered that I wasn't there.
Sometimes congregations will revolve around a couple of big families and they will have their mates. If you are not part of the entourage, you won't get included.

Blood Directive
by Phoebe inis there a new blood form to fill out?
maybe it's been mentioned here and i've missed it but when they were chasing me with the gdpr, they also mentioned they wanted to me to fill out a new blood directive.

Anyway, I was watching Witness Nomore on Youtube and he said he'd been contacted by two witnesses who were very concerned about the new blood form. I just wondered if everyone had been asked to fill out a new form.
My apologies if this has already been discussed.

Our very own pale.emperor on the "shunned" podcast.......
by dubstepped inwell, i offered in one of his threads to have him on the show and posters seemed excited at the possibility and we got it done so now you can hear from the man himself on the newest episode of "shunned".
one of our very own stepped up to tell his story, well, aside from myself of course.
it was great getting to actually speak with him.. this is my first international interview for the podcast.

I'm with dubstepped and Sail Away on this. My parents were fanatical JWs, too.
I wasn't allowed any contact with the outside world whatsoever. I was not allowed to use the phone.
I went to regular school but straight home after, absolutely no talking to school mates after school. Any contact with anyone or anything outside JW world was totally forbidden and punishable.
If I didn't answer in the meetings I was severely berated afterwards. And one answer wan't good enough, it had to be several answers. I wasn't allowed to go to the toilet during the meeting, even if I was desperate. On one occasion this resulted in me wetting myself (I was about 8) and oh my god, I was dragged from the hall and flung into the car - sobbing. My father was livid with rage. I thought he was going to kill me.
Assemblies/conventions - they had to know where I was every single second.
No watching television at night.
Weekends - ministry on both Saturday and Sunday. No choice. You had to go.
My speech was also restricted. I had to use the right words or my father would go ballistic. I once made the fatal mistake of saying someone was 'pregnant' I was sent to my room in disgrace for using a 'filthy' word. Apparently, I should have said 'with child'
The control didn't even end when I was older. I pioneered and worked in an office full of smokers (they did in those days) when I came home from work my father insisted on smelling my breath to make sure I hadn't smoked. My bag was checked for cigarettes.
When I rebelled at 19 and left home, my parents used people to spy on my apartment and when I went in and out was logged and reported to the elders.
I was told repeatedly if I didn't tow the line they would 'publicly disown me'
That coupled with sexual abuse....and I wonder why I ended up being treated by a psychologist!
So, yes. I totally believe the story on reddit.
