I have a hard time blaming the Watchtower
by spiritwalker in" if the watchtower said it, and the men on the platform preached it, then it must have been true.
so it was very hard to accept as an adult, that they were wrong.
i blame myself.

Christianity as a whole, is sick and pulls progress of humanity down to a level I think we should have moved on from by now.
I wholeheartedly agree! Modern Christianity (as it exists today) teaches the premise of "conditional love". In other words: "We will love you, if........."
Until such time as religion stops making demands upon their minions, threatening eternal punishment and/or destruction if their tenets are not obeyed, they will not be able to move forward.
Many people ask me why I do not attend church, especially since I have studied the Bible in the ancient languages for over 20 years. My answer is simple: I have not yet found a religion that does not teach "We are the only true religion". My quest for spirituality will not include any organized religion until such time as I find one that teaches unconditional love.

You'd hear no complaints from me if I were offered the opportunity to return to tropical island life in the Caribbean, where I lived for 13 years.

Massachusetts backs gay marriage
by ignored_one inhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3281017.stm
massachusetts backs gay marriage the us state of massachusetts has ruled in favour of gay marriage.
the state's supreme judicial court ruled that that barring same-sex couples from the benefits of civil marriage was "unconstitutional.

Technically I think marriage is a religious ceremony .
Yes, but as long as the State gives tax deductions for married couples, and the private sector gives medical insurance discounts to married couples, the fact that marriage is a religious ceremony will be a moot point.
I think it will be hard to make same sex marriage legal with G.W in the white house because he already made it clear that he will do everything in his power to preserve the sanctity of marriage.
I don't think it will happen at a federal level for years to come. The current administration opposes it on "religious moral" grounds, blatantly defying the separation of church from state. Do they have enough support to back a constitutional amendment? I doubt it. Sure, there's lots of talk of opposition, but I really don't think that the Republican party is made up of a primarily ultraconservative right-wing element, any more than the Democrats are all left-wing extremists.
It wouldn't surprise me to see some people wanting to marry farm animals in the future .
There are a lot of nut cases out there. I wouldn't be surprised if a group arises asking for marriage to corpses, to space aliens, or to Elvis. As I said above to Yeru, this does not mean that any of these groups would be able to piggyback their causes on the gay marriage issue. -

NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , Why do you think Bush went ahead to invade Iraq ???
by run dont walk inthe war is going on and on, and may be awhile before it actually officially ends.. the original reason for invasion was because of weapons of mass destruction, but that has fizzled,.
so why do you think bush was so keen on invading iraq ???.
oil, money, power, helping the iraqi people, ???.

Oil, ..... ???
Yes.
....money,.... ???
Yes.
.... power, .... ???
Indirectly.
.... helping the Iraqi people, ???
Probably at the bottom of the list, if on the list at all. Saddam Hussein was slaughtering his own minions long before there was any talk of taking out Iraq by the current administration. I still don't understand why Bush and his cronies had to manufacture so-called WMDs when this country had a perfectly legitimate reason for overthrowing the Hussein regime. The U.S. (and Bush) could have been looked upon as heroes, but thanks to a poorly played political strategy, we are now looked upon with incredulity and skepticism.
My opinion? I think the invasion was a tactical manouver to take the public's eye off the fact that we have been unable to locate Osama Bin Laden, and that Al Qaeda is still thriving.

I do remember my then mother in law jumping between me and someone who asked me if I wanted a drink, she said "NO".
That reminds me of a friend who was so concerned about my recovery from alcoholism that he actually asked me if it was OK for him to eat grapes in front of me!
People mean well, but they have to understand that if you try to work their recovery program for them, it won't work. You can't get or stay sober for someone else. You have to want it for yourself.

One teacher at work broke out that old saw that countries that supported gay lifestyles were destroyed within 50 years, and that Gays would destroy marriage.
I suppose Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands, and a few other countries better prepare themselves to be destroyed.
Where do they get this "information"?
