i was just wondering if any of you have any stories about unexplained mysteries, like seeing a ufo, or anything that you would consider unexplainable.
please share your stories.
When I first moved to the Virgin Islands in the mid-1970s, I befriended a man who lived in the same apartment building as I. He was a strong believer in reincarnation and the metaphysical. He was also a close personal friend of my employer. One evening, he knocked on my door and asked me to join him on the porch with my boss, who was visiting at the time. She rarely came to the store where I was working in their jewelry department, and this was the first time I'd ever met her.
As soon as we were introduced, her eyes grew wide and she said "I know you". I explained to her that I'd just moved to the island, and we'd never met before. She then proceeded to ask for my birthdate. She nodded her head, and told me to meet her at her office as soon as I reported for work the next morning.
I reported to her office as requested, whereupon she proceeded to go into a file cabinet and pull out newspaper clippings from the 1950s, all pertaining to a man who had managed her jewelry department back then. He had become despondent and, according to the newspaper obituary, committed suicide -- one day before I was born! Until she passed away, she swore I was the reincarnation of that man come back to St. Thomas to complete my job working in her store.
I don't necessarily believe the story, and I am a skeptic about reincarnation, but the coincidence is remarkable.
(PS) I do also believe I once saw a UFO while visiting my great uncle in Baltimore in the early 1960s. I was a small child at the time, and the memory is vague, but I can think of no logical explanation for what I saw in the sunrise sky.
i'm going to offer some of my favorite quotations.

A few quotes from Groucho Marx
My favorite Groucho Marx quote:
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll make an exception.

(And now for probably the most obscure reference I've yet made on the internet...does anybody else ever think of "Grandpa Bunny" every time they see a beautiful sunset?)
No.....but every time I see a white fluffy bunny, I sit there and wait for it to lay a chocolate Cadbury egg. So far, I've been very disappointed.
this week i ran into 2 people (on the same day) that i know, don't know each other, and they both talked about conspiracies and the role of the "illumanati" and the belief in "gray aliens".
the one that knew i was a witness congratulated me for my decision to stop attending meetings and believing in the witnesses.
russell was a member of the "illumanati" and how the "aliens" were telepathically (sp.
That wasn't a UFO. It was probably Brother Russell still directing the work.
I doubt it. The UFO he described wasn't pyramid-shaped.

When I lived out in California, I met another exJW at a metaphysical conference who told me that when he lived in the Pacific Northwest, while he was still a JW, he and an elder from his congregation were out for a hike when they saw a UFO hovering in the sky. The elder made him swear that he would never mention it to anyone, as he was afraid they would be disfellowshipped for such talk.
Perhaps equating the greys with the Governing Body isn't that far off.
in our personal life, there has been a slight improvement over last year.
our area, our little town is still struggling and losing small businesses.
my latest co-worker is a fellow business owner.
The city I live in is destitute. Of the 34,000 homes in this city, 4000 of them are either boarded up, condemned, or burned out. Thousands were thrown out of work when the steel mills closed. Crime and drugs are rampant, with an accompanying high murder rate. Every night I sit on my porch and hear gunshots. You can buy real estate here for next to nothing because property values have plummeted. This is attracting more and more poverty-level people from surrounding major cities (New York and Philadelphia). Slum lords are scooping up these properties and renting them out to anyone who can come up with a security deposit. Crack houses are everywhere.
I was raised here, and have recently returned after a 25 year absence. To have seen this city degenerate from a thriving metropolis into a crime and poverty-ridden tenement is disgusting and saddening.
We just elected a new mayor whose plans are to revive the economy by trying to attract new industry to the city, cracking down on the slum lords by tightening rental property requirements, and more agressive enforcement of drug laws. He has his work cut out for him.
National economic figures are meaningless here.
hits nyc ho ho ho.
only i'm not hoing i have to work in this.
like walking my pooches.
It just finished snowing here in east central PA an hour or so ago. Little patches of blue sky, but a biting wind to go along with it.
I'm tempted to move back to California.
this is a serious question.
how many of you have jobs?
from the number of posts and the times people complain on here, it looks that many of you don't.
I am currently unemployed (unless you count the time I spend writing my next science fiction novel) for medical reasons. Although I sometimes visit this board during daylight hours, most of my posting is done very late at night. It's 20 minutes past midnight as I type this, and I'll probably be up for another 2 or 3 hours yet.
