Whats all this about a "God neutral pledge" and how that wouldnt offend anyone. As far as i can see, it shouldnt offend anyone. Since there are many gods, a hindu, muslim or jew shouldnt be offended, since everyone has a god of some sorts. Even an athiest has a god. It's just in a different form.

And as already stated, NO ONE has to say the pledge. Political correctness makes me puke. Not that im a big bush fan. in fact, i think its a little hypocrytical for political leaders to jump on the bandwagon on this issue, acting like they're defending God himself, when theyve been so passive on other issues the bible clearly condemns.

When the constitution was written, as stated already, it specifically says, ALL RIGHTS ARE GIVEN BY GOD. The writers of this document were basically applying the principles of German Common Law. Wich teaches exactly this. However, in the early nineteenth century, many young men were educated at oxford and other english universitys, wich taught English Common Law. This teaches that ALL RIGHTS ARE GIVEN BY THE KING AND/QUEEN. A far cry different from German Common Law. These same men, brought back this form of law to America, and slowly the Govt. has assumed the position of God.

So even though German common law is stated in the constitution, we are and have been far from it for a long time.

we all know how the wts puts much emphasis on appearances.

eg...men must wear suits, ties, no beards, no hair touching the ear or collar, no pants for women, nothing that would appear "wordly" (for those of you not informed, "wordly" refers to anyone not a jw).

We all know how the WTS puts much emphasis on appearances. eg...Men must wear suits, ties, no beards, no hair touching the ear or collar, no pants for women, nothing that would appear "wordly" (for those of you not informed, "wordly" refers to anyone not a JW)

While touring Disney earlier this year, i had the oppurtunity to leave the magazines with a nice young......HAAAA!!!!!!!! Caught you dozing off. Ok, it wasnt funny. Anyway, i met a guy who used to work for Disney on his summer break, (he was a college student) and somehow the subject came up about the safety of the rides at the park, ect... and he informed me that an undetermined ammount of people had died from accidents at the park. This really didnt surprise me too much, considering the stupid things people do, and the rides themselves are subject to failure. But what caught my attention was when he said NO ONE HAS EVER DIED ON PARK PROPERTY. But i thought you just said..... I did. Apparantly, they have an around the clock coroner, who when someone dies for whatever reason, throws the body in his car, and drives just far enough to be off park property, then pronounces them dead!! That way they can boast that no one has ever died at Disney. Then he told me a grizzly story of some guy who got out of his log on the log ride while it was moving slow, then tried to re-enter it, and was run over by the next log behind it. No problem. The ride was stalled long enough for several guys (in suits) to clean up the mess, haul the body off the park property, and proclaim it dead!! Downtime for the log ride? About 30 minutes.

Trash is supposed to be picked up within minutes of being thrown down,by an amazing ammount of janitors. Mickey and his friends are always somewhere in the park, but its not the same mickey. The entire park is connected by underground tunnels. So when Mickey leaves one section of the park at 3:30 pm, another Mickey pops up at 3:31 on the other side.

No one who is employed by Disney is allowed to have a visible tattoo on them, and if its a guy, no ear rings, or body peircing of any kind. Hmmmmm i wonder if they allow it on National Gay and Lesbian week?

The similarities of two corporate giants were starting to emerge in my mind, when we visited MGM studios, and my wife and friends asked me to ride the TOWER OF TERROR. I explained that i had already ridden it for most of my life!!! Needless to say, i rode the Disney version of it too. Although i must say, the ride itself, while fast and scary, was over in a relatively short time, and i could leave it mentally and physically in one piece!! And all my friends were still my friends when it was over.

Mom - Why do you treat me like the damned!

not that my mom would ever visit this site - but i have to just vent.

last night my mom promised she would meet me at home to help me move some furniture.

she made it seem like it was a tremendous deal and the only reason why she would be by would be because she had something else to do in the neighbourhood.

I can definately sympathize with everyone. I too have experienced this treatment. Even though i have not recieved a "label" from the org.,(i was one of those ones who "slipped through the cracks" in the system) i told my cousin to read the bible often, and he didnt have to attend JW meetings to be saved. This spread like wildfire among the family, bringing on some heated debates over the phone, and for the first time when visiting my parents (i live 3 hours away) i was denied access to their home and had to get a motel in the same town with my wife and daughter. Amazing!! I have a sister thats working on her second illigitimate child, runs around with a bad crowd does drugs, and has a drinking problem, and a brother who never works, and has joined the masonic lodge, and even lived with a woman in my parents basement for a while, and both of them are living at my parents home. But because neither of them are baptized, its tolerated, and because i was (at age 15) im not allowed to even spend the night. Simply because i dont agree with them doctrinally.

Dont get me wrong, i dont mean to judge my brother and sister, I would do ANYTHING for them. Im not asking to be treated any better than them, just to be given the same love. But because of a LEGAL TECHNICALITY, thats the way it is. Actually, things (conversation wise) have improved over the last 2 weeks. They are letting my daughter stay there, and even sent an anniversary card. But im not holding my breath too long. In anger, i even quoted Matt.10:34-36 to my father. Of course, he sees it in reverse.

Dak,
I enjoyed your response, as i know you put a lot of thought into it. But i must say, it seems as if you are basing most of your belief in the fact that nowhere is Jesus called the "True God", and the fact that he called the Father the only "True God" First of all, to answer you question about Jesus praying to God, therefore he couldnt be God.

Lets take my earlier illustration about husband/wife. Remember how once married, the bible calls them "ONE FLESH" The bible also calls them both "MAN" Im getting ready to go out on a limb, so bear with me. What if she travelled to another planet to buy some property,and called me on the phone, talked to me, and then told other people she had met,that she was there to represent me,in pefect agreement with me. When asked what her species were, she could reply, "MAN". She them could explain she was ONE with her husband. That she was in me, and i in her. TWO people, ONE NATURE.

Jesus actually said he was the true vine. Titus 2:13 says: "While we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, will be revealed" Once again, i say YES he was in submission the Father, but was still equal with the Father in his very Nature.

If the title God was not taken that seriously back then by men, God sure took it serious. What about the Roman Governer (name escapes me) who was eaten of worms and died, simply because the people said he had the voice of "a god" and he didnt correct them. Yaweh said he would Give his Glory to NO OTHER.

And of these other people and satan, and so forth being called "gods", none of them are ever called mighty, great,saviour,wonderfull,everlasting,the first and the last,.......
It sounds like from these passages, the Father has given his glory to another. His Son, the Lord of Glory.(1cor.2:8,) Who is this King of Glory? The LORD, strong and MIGHTY, the LORD mighty in battle (psalms 24:8)

Sorry DAK, Only ONE True God, the rest of them are FALSE!!

I see where your comming from, we obviously dont know what else is out there if anything, besides our known universe and Gods heavenly realm. And yet looking at it as you suggest from a finite point of view, this would still include Jesus. Of course im bringing this up because of JW doctrine pounding home the fact that Jesus was Gods first creation. So tackling the subject of Jesus being "created" i think this is fairly solid. In other words, God couldnt have made Jesus, because ALL things that were made, were made by Jesus. Unless the Father did bring him forth, sometime in eternity past, and that does not count as making him. (The vines notes on the deity of christ actually suggest Jesus as possibly having derived his existance from the father at some point in time.)

DAK, (Just an afterthought)
You said that there is only "one true God" thus referring to the Father. If thats the case, then Jesus cannot be true, because according to what you are saying, he is "a god", but not the "True God" What about 1John 5:20? Jesus here is called "The true God,and eternal life" (even the KJV,wich everyone claims is so biased, inserts the word "even" therefore distinguishing the two persons, Father and Son.) At the VERY LEAST, you have to conclude that they are both "TRUE" according to this verse. OOOPS! Now we have 2 True Gods.

Poor God, he cant save you unless you join an organization, or do this or that. "My sheep hear my voice, and i know them, and they follow me and i give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish". "And thou shalt call his name JESUS, for he shall save HIS PEOPLE from their sins." (matthew 1:21)"As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to AS MANY AS THOU HAST GIVEN HIM." (john 17:3)
Who are these sheep? Members of some large organization where you can be saved depending on how much you adhere to the rules, or your meeting attendance?

Or, those chosen in Eternity past, by the Soveriegn God who knows all things, and has to answer to NO ONE. Rom. 8:29 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son...." vs.30-"Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." vs.31"If God be for us, who can be againts us?"

Eph.1:4 "According as he hath chosen us in him before the Foundation of the world....."vs11 "Being Predistinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will"
2Tim.1:9 "Who has saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace wich was given us in Christ Jesus BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN.

One thing i didnt mention about the husband and wife relationship, and the bible calling them "one flesh", was something i too had mentioned earlier at a post. And that is, even though they were two seperate people, man and woman, they were called Man. (Gen.1:27) Their Nature was Man. The Son and The Father, their nature=God.

Lets go back in time before Anything was created. Where did Jesus derive his existance? or did he always exist as God? or was he "a god, who hooked up with the father at some point (a morman belief)
Well, if he was "MADE" by the father, then cut out John 1:3 that says "ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM, AND WITHOUT HIM WAS NOT ANYTHING MADE THAT WAS MADE" That includes himself doesnt it? Therefore, i have to conclude he already existed with the Father. He was begotten as the incarnate son.

God (the Father) is a jealous God, do you think he would actually permit angels, and men to even do "obesiance" to someone else? The word obesiance actually can mean several things, including submission to that person or being, or pay homage(a mark or testimony of esteem)
Angels never permitted any man to do obesiance to them. Dakota, i think youre trying to water down the language used by those who "Worshipped the Son"

So what do you believe about the Son? Are you saying he is a god, not the same as the father? Only the pagans were polytheistic. He cannot be "a god" without being a false god, too many scriptures saying ONE GOD.

I respect the fact you are still "digging", obviously most of us have done a degree of research on this topic. Let me throw a few points at you on the subject.

The book of Hebrews was obviously written to the Jews, who only believed in the "One true God". So the writer had to explain who Jesus was. The first chapter dispels any notion the he is/was an angel. So is he "a god" or God-manifest in the flesh?

Ok, im a jew, reading Hebrews, and i read chapter one, just describing how the angels worship jesus, and how he is higher than the angels. Then i read in verse 8, the Father calling Jesus "God".
And being a jew, i know absolutely there is only ONE GOD, so then i read on in verse 10-12. Wait!! Yaweh created the heavens and earth, and these two verses are a direct quote from Psalms 102:25-27. But here in Hebrews they are reffering to Jesus. Then i recall a scripture in Isaiah 44:24 that says I am the LORD that made the heavens and the earth ALL BY MYSELF. And another O.T scripture rapidly comes to mind, Isaiah 42:8,9 I am the LORD, and my glory will i not give to another. (incidentaly,verse 9 is repeated by Jesus in Jn.13:19. Another Isaiah scripture Isa.45:22,23 is repeated in Phillipians 2:10 Yaweh is saying at the sound of HIS NAME every knee will bow..ect... In Phill, it says at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow...ect...And as you might know, there are literally hundreds of paralells between old and new testament like will was quoting earlier.

I think maybe part of the problem in understanding the concept of the Trinity, (at least it was for me-i was a 3rd generation JW, who did not believe the trinity doctrine for 33 years) was the language Jesus used when refering to his father as doing HIS will, and saying the father is greater..ect...But i think the relationship between the two is very similiar to husband and wife. Even though they are two different people, they are in a perfect union, therefore becomming "One flesh" The wife is in perfect submission to the husband, just as christ is in perfect submission to the father. He came to do "his fathers will". But like Phillipians 2:6 says, "he thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

As far as explaining it, my favorite is the Husband/Wife thing.
But the other day, i was thinking on the subject after reading some of the post, and i kind of thought of one. Jesus is called the Word. Therefore God is "Declared" by him. He is Yaweh in action. Just as my voice loudly declares what i believe and who i am. Without my voice, i could not tell anyone about me. Is my voice me? I should say absolutely. Even though it is invisible, it reflects who i am, and what im all about.
