  as some have recently posted here, there does seem to be a shift going on in their self-interpretation(s) of what happened in 1918 and 1919. if we can look past all the details that emphasize the poor thinking and poor wording (or contradictions/just plain craziness/insignificance) of their message, something bigger seems to be afoot.

  they appear to be attempting to redefine the meanings for some "prophetic" scriptures in light of themselves.

  In answer to the OP's question, my guess is that they are gradually demoting Rutherford, making it easier to move past some of his crackpot ideas.

  That could be more true than we think. There are at least two instances of the "as they understood" excuse for being WRONG in this mornings WT! And the local conductor mentioned it several other times, emphasizing the "as they understood" excuse. They call it clarification, when in reality it is change. There is one helluva difference.

  I did bring out the Isaiah quote with the reference to one attender this morning. They got red-faced mad when I read it to them.

  jehovah's witnesses cannot do a lot of things.

  i remember pioneers having to quit their jobs because they could not work in a convenience store and sell cigarettes.

  i know of a young man who was offered a scholarship to any college or university if he wanted to go to because of his football abilities.

  It may appear so, however the following statement is their get out of jail free card.

  Would I patiently wait on Jehovah, or would I be inclined to take matters into my own hands?’

  Today that same brother, under the same situation, would be summarily executed (DF'd) for not 'waiting on Jehovah' and having taken matters into his own hands by marrying.

  One must not be mislead, there is NOTHING that any member of the JDubs can do without incurring the wrath of G.O.D. (guardians of doctrine) unless they have approval from G.O.D. (guardians of doctrine) first! And may God have mercy on your soul if they change their minds about what is approved conduct for the sheeple THIS week!

  You mean because of our view of a PROPHECY?????

  What was that the governing body has seen fit to print? Something about no understanding fulfillment of prophecy beforehand, but only afterwards? "Prophecy" is useless if it cannot be understood until after the fact.

  there's a single brother in the cong that is always flirting with his wife.

  well at a recent meeting my df friend decided to show up to check this brother out.

  That is 100% true It is also true that if one is DF'd others who are still in can do and say anything in front of the DF'd person and get away with it The eldumms will NEVER listen to anything a DF'd person says, even if they had photo proof of the drunkenness, illegal drug use, or fornicating.

  Remember? In Dubland a DF'd person is "dead".

  gorby went to the kh for family reasons today.. and landed right away middle in a pseudo history watchtower article.

  just that aspect of the jw belief he is so sensative about.. so 1918 and 1919 are changed with one mark of a pencil.

  the argument of change was in the past the argument of the doctrine.

  it seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.

  i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
